Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 5 friends stayed at Call of the Loon in February 2018 for our annual friends retreat. Everything was great! Anton met us in the driveway upon arrival and was helpful without being overbearing. He was nice enough to give us a lot of driveway space (4 spots). Walking in, right away we noticed how clean the house was! The second thing was what a great feel the house had. Some of the highlights for us were the Keurig machine with coffee pods provided, bottles of water and ice provided, small touches like candles, and the Sonos sound system for playing Pandora. It's on the smaller side, which worked just fine for our group, which grew to 6 on Saturday. We were able to fit 6 around the table using the stools. Beds were comfortable. The sink and oven are pretty small, but worked just fine for us. The only downside is the proximity to the road and pretty constant traffic, but you get used to it. And the best part -- you don't have to do an ounce of cleaning when you leave! We would definitely return.

We will definitely be back!

  • 5 of 5

This rental is a beautifully maintained cabin with a lovely view of the lake. It is a clean and warm place to sleep after enjoying adventures on the lake or spend the entire day at home relaxing. All of the amenities you could think of are there for use. We will definitely be back when we visit our family in Mound, MN as it is only minutes away. Also, the host was very accommodating and available if we needed anything.

Wonderful lake escape!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four had a fantastic long weekend at Call of the Loon. The cabin is beautifully decorated and appointed. No detail was overlooked. The lake view is beautiful, and we enjoyed the front patio and the yard for family lawn games. The location is convenient to everything we wanted to do ... just steps to Black Oar kayak and paddle board rentals in one direction and to Dairy Queen in the other. :-) We were a very short drive away from lakeside restaurants, a day cruise and fishing charter. Anton was an incredibly attentive and responsive host, always quick to answer questions and provide area suggestions. We especially appreciated the "extras" in the cabin, such as K-cups, creamer, paper plates and paper towels. These small provisions truly helped us devote almost all of our short stay to fun and relaxation and not to errands and shopping. My sons, ages 13 and 11, loved their space in the loft. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Sparkling with charm on Independence Day

  • 5 of 5

Call of the Loon is a true gem in the Tonka Bay area that graced our little family with respite, charm, and sparkling entertainment over our fourth of July staycation. First, Anton is a fabulous host - welcoming and warmly responsive. Second, the cabin is immaculately cleaned and well stocked. The linens smelled so good and the beds were so very comfortable. The fridge was stocked with waters and essential condiments for any meals. There is SO much detail to every nook and cranny of this special place (e.g. the wooden encasement to the fridge, animal carvings, built in beds, cabinets, ladder and loft), a bit eclectic in parts, but enhancing one's experience. Everything is so well labeled. The exterior was also immaculately groomed. We loved grilling out and sitting at the tables in the front lawn overlooking the lake and playing games (provided in the cabin by gracious host Anton). Our 5-year-old daughter embraced the front lawn as her open air dance studio while we dined al fresco. While there was slightly more traffic than we anticipated on the street that the front lawn overlooks, the view of the lake was still spectacular. Further, we loved being able to watch the fireworks that were let off from all angles of the lake directly from the front lawn. And, when those mosquitos came out, we could still see all of the sparkling action from inside the cabin through the amazing windows. We were a short drive from several swimming areas and also enjoyed our yearly dining excursion to eat on the patio of 6Smith in Wayzata. We didn't get to try the barbeque from the restaurant next door as we had brought our own, but will have to check it out the next time. This is truly a great place. Thanks, Anton, for sharing such a lovely place. We'll be back!
