About Karole

I am an artist-painter and Mike is an avid sailor. After many years of sailing around Prince Edward County, we decided to leave Ottawa and move here to live among artists, sailors and winemakers. We bought a waterfront bungalow on the Adolphus Reach and added a 2nd floor for my art studio. My art can be viewed at The experience of travelling, housesitting and hosting many friends over the years has led us to become VRBO hosts. We are confident that you will enjoy the privacy and comfort of our waterfront property this summer. We will be aboard our sailboat in the area, available for any information you might require about the property or "the County".

Karole purchased this house in 2013

Peaceful, light-filled retreat in Prince Edward County

  • 5 of 5

The Studio House is a true home-away-from-home in beautiful PEC. It's cycling distance from several wineries and the lake view can't be beat! When we arrived, there was local wine, coffee, and mustard waiting for us, as well as a selection of staples they'd thoughtfully provided. Karole and Mike allow guests to use anything in their pantry, which is a great luxury--no need to buy whole bottles of a spice we needed only a few teaspoons of!

The Studio House is light-filled with large windows that overlook the lake. The rooms are airy and bright. There's a Juliette balcony for late-night stargazing, which is excellent in the County. The setup of the bedrooms, a bathroom for each, meant privacy for us all. During our stay, our young adult children visited and everyone was comfortable.

The roads in that area are relatively quiet and calm for cycling, and the 40km loop of the reach to visit the wineries made a great day trip.

Thanks very much for a great stay. We hope to be back!

Our trip to Prince Edward County was delightful. Our accommodations could not have been better. The very pleasant owners, Karole and Mike, have a lovely and spacious home that sits right by the lake. Wonderful views. Every amenity was available for backyard comfort and interior comfort. Private bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen has all of the conveniences. We spent late evenings watching Netflix. Picton was quite close by along with plenty of wine tasting venues, most notable being Norman Hardie. We loved Sandbanks. Do stock up on groceries in Kingston as prices in Picton grocery stores are very high. Also go to the Angry Birds Restaurant in Picton. This is an ideal family getaway.

Wonderful stay at the Studio House on the Reach!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely property in a great location. It was very quiet, but in a perfect position to visit Lake on the Mountain, Picton and, the Waupoos area. Actually it is not too far from anywhere in the County. It is a lovely house and garden, was amazingly well equipped and clean. Karole and Mike have included all the amenities that you might need in order to make this a "home away from home". They went out of their way to ensure that we had all that we needed in order to make our stay successful, including a welcoming bottle of wine from the local Devil's Wishbone Winery that we highly recommend. We also got to enjoy Karole's beautiful artwork, which was a treat all on its own. The house is very bright and airy and we would highly recommend others hoping for a wonderful experience in The County to consider this property. Thanks again Karole and Mike and as we said, we will be back!

Friendly & Inviting - Well-Suited to Art Lovers & Cooks

  • 5 of 5

We are so impressed with this property and the hosts! From the moment you walk into this immaculate and inviting home you feel at ease. We were greeted with a bottle of delicious local wine which was an added touch that warmed our hearts. We were constantly impressed: comfy and inviting beds, lake-side location, well-equipped kitchen and BBQ, and the luxury of 3 full baths! As two couples vacationing together we love to cook, explore & relax and we were able to do all three. The home is right on the lake and there are three lovely outdoor seating areas.

As an extra bonus our host Karole is an artist and her paintings and art collection adorn the walls. You'll enjoy exploring the pieces throughout the home and in her impressive upstairs studio (which is also a 3rd bedroom!). Both she and Mike are also avid sailors so there was a touch of the nautical throughout the home which was fun and interesting.

The property is about 20-30 minutes from some lovely towns in Prince Edward County but it doesn't feel at all remote. As city-dwellers used to traffic we found this to be a short, relaxing drive to get whatever we needed. As a bonus, we were offered the use of their season's pass to Sand Banks Provincial Park and used it twice to explore this amazing beach-side park.

The area is enjoyable to walk and the neighbours are friendly, too. I highly recommend this property for your next vacation rental!

Impecably clean, very comfortable beautiful house and great hosts

  • 5 of 5

This house accommodated perfectly the needs of our party of three couples. We are childhood friends that lives in separate area of the province and really enjoy reconnecting once in a while. The house was so perfect for us. It is spacious, it has a beautiful view of the lake, it is very well equipped, quiet and spotless. The six of us unanimously enjoyed staying at this house and I will make a point to recommend it to all of my friends.

During our stay, we had breakfasts and cooked gourmet dinners at the house. Someone in our party has a vehicle that sits six which aloud touring together. One volunteered to be the designated driver and we visited many nearby attractions and wineries. In the evening we retreated home, cooked nice dinners and enjoyed the company in this relax atmosphere.

In all, we had a great vacation together given the good company and the beautiful area. Of course, the house and our hosts were also instrumental in this great vacation.

Many thanks for share your house with us!!
