About the property

Apartment sleeps up to four persons (two doubles)

The Retreat is the award winning and recently completed luxury holiday apartment adjoining Wolferlow House, the former rectory, set in beautiful scenery on the Herefordshire / Worcestershire border.

The highlight is the exclusive use of a totally private 9m indoor heated swimming pool and a Finnish sauna - entirely to yourselves.

The Retreat comprises a luxurious double bedroom with en-suite shower featuring a king size bed and Chinese furniture. A proper fold-out double bed settee allows extra sleeping in the sitting area. Double doors and a Juliet balcony give views across the croquet lawn. The fully equipped kitchen is tucked in the corner of the generous living area with flat screen TV, comfortable chairs and a dining table. A wide double-glazed glass screen leads to an elevated paved balcony with outdoor seating and distant views over farmland to the church and Wolferlow Court.

The large gardens are open each year for the National Garden Scheme (17 June 2017) and include an orchard, wildflower meadow with ponds, herbaceous borders and distant views across farmland.

Well away from any busy roads the seven acre property is quiet, peaceful and private.

Attention to detail includes the provision of top quality bed linen, towels and luxury towelling robes.

The Retreat is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic and luxury getaway or to bring the baby / younger children and enjoy a family time together.

Notes:
The highlight is the exclusive use of a 9m indoor heated swimming pool and Finnish sauna with fitness area and table tennis table. A wet room leads off. From the pool large double doors lead to the garden terrace with loungers, table and sun umbrella. A flight of 15 stone steps with handrail provide access to The Retreat so it is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The garden is open once a year (year off in 2016) for the National Garden Scheme Yellow Book. Our daughter, Laura, a professional caterer provides a superb supper menu that is available on 24 hours notice - menu provided at time of booking. Highly recommended by our guests.

Beautiful location - glorious views!

  • 4 of 5

Gorgeous location, peaceful! Wonderful welcome, with a bowl of fresh raspberries and home grown tomatoes in the apartment. Friendly and helpful without in any way intruding on our privacy. Gave good advice regarding an evening meal out locally. Two friendly jack Russell's who also made us feel very welcome🤗?. Lovely pool area.......a little cold (27 degrees) but we were only there for the weekend so this did us fine.

Couple of minor problems, and to be fair we didn't mention them so it's down to us really - the grill pan was really dirty, and to be honest we didn't want to clean it prior to cooking, when only away for the weekend, so we went out for breakfast to Tenbury Wells - which is a quaint little market town. (Go into the bakery and try the pork pies and hand made chocolates - delicious! ) Kettle switch won't stay down after it's been boiled once?

The Retreat is set in beautiful rural countryside on the borders of Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The area is a well kept secret offering a wealth of interesting places to visit and lots of peace and quiet.

London is a world away but we are actually only 120 miles from the M25. Birmingham is 38 miles. Readily accessible from M5 J5 (Droitwich Spa) & J7 (Worcester South).

Bromyard (5 miles) Home to the Herefordshire Marmalade Festival, The International Town Criers’ Festival, the Scarecrow Festival, Dr Who Museum, Nozzstock Rock Festival, Jazz and Folk Festivals; there’s something for everyone going on here! That’s before you visit Brockhampton National Trust, Bromyard Downs or Bringsty Common.

Tenbury Wells (7 miles) Traditional market town on the River Teme hosting the Mistletoe and Holly market and has many traditional shops on the high street that you won’t find anywhere else. Good food and drink is to be expected when the town is surrounded by farms, hop fields and orchards.

Worcester (15 miles) Visit the magnificent cathedral, catch up with the English Civil War at the Commandery, stroll along the Shambles shopping, explore the River Severn or relax at New Road watching the county cricket.

Ludlow (17 Miles) Architectural gem and gate to the Welsh Marches, Ludlow has a wonderful market, superb restaurants and events and festivals throughout the year. Ludlow Castle dates from 1086 and is surrounded by over 450 listed buildings. Wonderful for foodies!

Great Malvern (18 miles) The Malvern Hills offers some of the best walking in the country before visiting the local tea rooms, shops, spa, theatre, Abbey, Eastnor Castle or the Three Counties Showground for the Spring, Summer and Autumn Garden Shows.

Hereford (20 Miles) Another great cathedral with the Mappa Mundi and the historic chained library, horse racing, traditional black and white buildings, local cider and beer all set in a medieval market city.

The Cotswolds, The Long Mynd, The Black Mountains, Hay-on-Wye, Cheltenham and Stratford are all within reasonable driving distance.
