Quiet and comfortable lodge

If you want a good quality and comfortable place to stay that is full of peace and quiet then March End Lodges are just the thing. The kitchen is reasonably stacked with all the things you need for a self catering stay. The bathroom is huge and luxurious. The bedroom houses a king size bed, which sadly means it’s a squeeze to get around it if sleeping on the far side and that furniture is at a minimum. There’s not much room for storage. The lounge is ok for enjoying a couple of hours of tv of an evening. However the tv does get a lot of reflection from the enormous windows and as there is no curtain on the side of tv (only blinds) so it does hamper tv viewing. The outside area is fully enclosed so your dog can run free and the decking area, hot tub and outdoor seating were all fabulous. The lodge does get incredibly hot, it is west facing and the sun beams through the glass windows and I believe it also very well insulated as I could not get the temperature below 19 degrees. But the best thing I found about this lovely place was the water! I cannot believe I am writing about such a basic commodity, but the water comes from the farm itself and goes through their own filtration system. This water is so clear, soft and a pure delight to drink. Personally I think it’s the nicest water I’ve ever drunk and if they could bottle it, I’d buy it in truck loads! I would recommend a stay at these lodges and the area is a great central base for exploring beautiful North West Devon.

Very Well Equipped Lodge in a Lovely Area

Very well equipped Lodge in a lovely area with a wonderful hot tub. The only downside (if you are bringing a dog/dogs), is that there is a campsite in the field directly behind the Lodge and whilst this is a family campsite and no trouble at all, our dogs could hear the sounds coming from the campsite, but because they couldn't work our where the sounds were coming from, they were on alert and couldn't settle for the first few days, so relaxing in the garden and hot tub was not always possible. As the week went on this became much better and we got to relax more in the garden and hot tub, after a day out at the beach/exploring. This was just a small issue and everything else was wonderful and we would definitely recommend this accommodation.

If You Want a Peaceful Break - Look Here!

An absolute gem of a find! Peaceful location and lodge has everything equipped for your needs! The garden is great for the dog to run around and the hot tub is excellent to relax in. Location is great with two pubs within walking distance and if you wish to expand the walk we walked to Woolacombe and back along the beach! Perfect little break and will definitely be back.

Beautiful stay

This was our second time staying here and it didn’t disappoint, we had the most relaxing stay. The location is just beautiful we loved looking out and seeing the baby lambs and bunny rabbits in the morning. Very clean, presented beautifully and love the little touches with the bottle of Prosecco and milk in the fridge. Will definitely be staying again, great customer service from owners. We love it here, the most relaxing stay to switch off and relax from a busy life style.

Can’t fault anything excellent

We had a very good time the property was in excellent condition and the bed was so comfortable also where it is positioned is very quiet to be honest can’t really fault it the bathroom was probably the best we have seen for a long time only problem was the internet seems to come and go a bit but wasn’t a problem also it’s easy to get anywhere else the local pub as excellent food we had a Sunday roast which was really nice so overall we was very pleased thanks to everyone who helped with the booking

Perfection

This is our second time staying and it was just as amazing as we remember it being 2 years ago. A perfect get away with out Labrador and so relaxing for us too. The hot tub is incredible with the views, location there’s some lovely local pubs and if you google there’s some beautiful beach walks. We came in January so it was abit cold but the under floor heating is a dream. All in all just amazing and we can’t wait to come back BUT book in advance… they fill up quickly!

Great Christmas Break

We had a lovely relaxing break between Christmas and New Year. Lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything you needed. Been to a few Lodges with hot tubs and had a welcome pack on arrival including milk, bread, eggs, marmalade, and orange juice . Only had milk and a bottle of prossco which was nice thank you. Only other criticism I'd say was the 2 seater settee was too small. A recliner or slightly bigger settee would of been more comfortable at night whilst snuggling down on the evening watching the TV. Overall great stay ,great location , great views and pubs and beaches and on your doorstep. Would definitely return again.

Dog friendly holiday cottage

A lovely, comfortable and very well equipped holiday home with the added bonus of a hot tub and lovely countryside views. The huge bed was extremely comfortable. A fully enclosed garden makes it very safe for dogs. There are two dog friendly pubs within walking distance and Croyde with more facilities and amenities is a 5 minute car ride away. All in all, a really pleasant stay.

The most beautiful lodge is a stunning location

The most beautiful lodge in a stunning location. Every detail of the lodge has been well thought out, including treats for the dogs, processco in the fridge and gowns for the hot tub. the enclosed garden is perfect for dogs. There is nothing more I could of asked for. Would highly recommend but then again everybody will want to go :}

Lovely setting, nice lodges, responsive hosts

Lovely setting, very peaceful and quiet and very responsive hosts. Lodge is lovely, good space, big bathroom. Also, although the lodges are dog friendly we didn't notice any dog smell which is always a good sign. Phone connection is not great but wifi is good, so we ended up doing mostly whatsapp calls where required. It does get hot inside the lodges when the sun shines, there is a very small fan provided but if coming in summer we would suggest bringing your own as you'll need a powerful one if you get a nice sunny day. An iron is provided. We would suggest bringing shower gel, aluminium foil, cooking oil and bin bags. Overall would stay again.

Excellent in all respects!

We could not fault our stay at Thistledown Lodge, March End. A lovely quiet location, immaculately clean and well equipped, with a thoughtful welcome bottle of Prosecco and treats for the dog! The bed was super comfy and we enjoyed using the hot tub and outside space. Which was secure for our dog so she could enjoy the garden too! We also enjoyed the fact we could walk to two excellent local pubs for food and enjoyed a great walk to Putsborough on one of our days. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Great lodge

Didn’t start well as the post code did not match the true location as the address was a mix of March Lodges and Braunton. So we were not in the best frame of mind. The lodge is great and as described in every way. Put it even nearer the coast and you’ve got 6 stars! As for Luxury Coadtal as an an agent it gave wrong address and tells you it’s a 4pm check after you have paid deposit. Not great. If you can book it direct then bypass these people.

Amazing

Can’t fault anything! It was clean, comfortable, high quality and bonus of excellent location! One tip don’t follow sat nav in… drive via Croyde road, far less stressful if not used to country lanes. Amazing break, didn’t want to leave! Well worth a visit!

North Devon get away

The Thistledown lodge is a lovely place to have a quiet break away from hustle and bustle. It is clean and comfortable and had a secluded hot tub on the decking at the back. You can walk to the village of Georgeham where there are two pubs if you want to eat out, although there are no pavements so you need to watch out for cars. You can also walk to Putsborough beach in about 40 minutes. It was a nice touch that we were given Prosecco and fresh milk on arrival. However there was no shower gel or shampoo or dishwasher tablets/liquid and I hadn’t packed any! Treats were provided for our dog which was also lovely. The cost was a bit steep for 3 nights but we had a nice time. Thank you

Short Stay

The Lodge was lovely, modern, warm (we went in February) and clean. It was great to get in the hot tub! The garden area was perfect for our 2 dogs. The location was great, short drive to Woolacombe and the two local pubs served great food and catered for me who is coeliac. We had a small issue with the shower, but this was being resolved on the Monday. Definitely stay again, perfect for 2 people and their dogs

Amazing holiday

We couldn't thank the owners enough for such a spectacular stay. The lodge was spotless with everything we needed to make our Christmas 2023 special. So many local areas around for the dogs. So many beaches to choose from. Would definitely recommend and return.

Had a fantastic time at thistledown from the moment we arrived til we left. The lodge was clean and had everything you needed for your stay we enjoyed the hot tub and our dog loved the freedom of the fenced garden . The location was fantastic too as we used the two local pubs less than a ten minute walk to both and also walked to puttsborough beach wich was only a 45 minute walk . We had a fantastic time and definitely will return some day Thanks

Fantastic stay

Loved every minute of our stay in this lodge. The location is ideal to get to Putsborough, Croyde, Staunton and Woolacombe amongst others. The lodge was lovely and the enclosed garden did our dog was perfect. The hot tub was well maintained and the bed is the best I have ever slept in. All was perfect and we will definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality!

Lovely Lodge close to beaches

We stayed early August 2023. The lodges are beautiful throughout from the lodge itself to the high end furnishings. The lodge contains everything you need for your getaway and are very clean throughout with a comfortable king bed, bath and shower. The kitchen is modern with an area for eating and sofa for relaxing in front of tv. The garden is large and secure for a pooch and has wonderful views overlooking fields while you relax in the hot tub provided. There are two pubs in walking distance. The Rock Inn was our fav serving great traditional pub food with lots of options. The beaches near by are beautiful. Great holiday!
