Don't have a boat, but would like to get on the water? Full-sized Old Town Canoe and paddleboat available at no extra charge (lifejackets included)!!

Inviting 3BR 2 1/2BA waterfront home on the beautiful, wooded south side of Richland Chambers Lake - conveniently located 1 1/2 hours south of Dallas and 2 1/2 north of Houston. Also an hour to Waco (Baylor University), 1 3/4 hours to College Station (Texas A&M), and 2 hours to Austin (University of Texas).

This fun, family-friendly custom home is situated on a very private, gated, 4 acre wooded lot, was built in 1998 and has 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Sit and rock on the front porch with your morning coffee while watching the wildlife and birds, chill in the hammock or dine under the stars at night. You can relax on the large covered back porch under the fans or enjoy the kids exploring the expansive, shaded back yard and waterfront. If the beach is your thing, Fisherman's Point is only a few miles away which boasts a fun, sandy beach area! Runners and cyclists love the fresh air and paved country roads for training runs and rides! Shoot some hoops with your fam out front or take a nap in the hammock.

Richland Chambers is the 3rd largest (and the newest lake) in Texas and was recently named "Still Undiscovered" by D Magazine! (Which means you won't find lots of boating traffic on the lake -- even on holiday weekends).

Richland Chambers (which is 45,000 surface acres in size!) was also named one of the area's:

* Most Beautiful Lakes

* Best Fishing Lakes

* Best Skiing Lakes

* Best Sailing Lakes

* Closest Lake without Shoreline Restrictions

Come see what the excitement is all about! (Just beware -- most people who visit end up stopping by the realtor's office on the way out of town!!)

Sleeping Accommodations:

Bedroom #1: King bed

Bedroom #2: Queen bed and twin sofa bed.

Bedroom #3: Queen bed and full bed

Bathroom Accommodations:

Bathroom #1: Large master bath with walk-in shower and jetted tub

Bathroom #2: Jack-and-jill bath with enclosed tub shared between bedroom #2 and #3

Bathroom #3: Half-bath in hallway outside bedroom #3

The house is completely outfitted for families with small children (high chair, plastic plates/bowls/cups/forks/spoons, 2 pack and plays, bouncy, rocking chair, toys (including Legos, Tonka trucks, wagon, balls, crayons, etc.), videos, baby bathtub, Reebok jogging stroller, baby swing, kid-sized picnic table) and several games (Monopoly, Scrabble, Life, Twister, etc) and movies for older children and adults. Treehouse is 6' off the ground and visible from the front porch.

Not only do we sleep 8 comfortably, we can feed them well too! The kitchen is very well-equipped with everything you need to prepare a nice meal for your family -- or visit one of the several local restaurants on the south side of the lake. During the summer, you can even boat to dinner!

There is a large work space in the master which is perfect if you have to catch up on some work while you are away. High-speed internet on a wireless network is included at no additional charge.

For those of you with homes already on the lake, this central southside location would be a excellent extra "guest house" for your company, or for a local homebase during construction.

Dogs love it here -- well-behaved, non-destructive housetrained ones are welcome.

Come escape to the lake and enjoy the wooded seclusion that this one-of-a-kind property offers.

About Cliff Helterbran

I grew up spending summers at the we knew we wanted to buy a lake property for our future children to enjoy as well! We live in Coppell, Texas, and were looking for a lake that was far enough to be out of the city....but close enough for a weekend get-away.

We rented it for years when the kids were small, then enjoyed it ourselves for a few years -- and now the girls are 9 and 11 and so busy with activities we wanted to share it with other families as we aren't able to get down as much.

Cliff Helterbran purchased this house in 2001

Why Cliff Helterbran chose Streetman

When we first visted Richland Chambers in the summer of 2000, we were sold! We bought a lot in The Wilderness on the spot...then found and bought this property in 2001. We love the wooded seclusion and quick access to open water. (This house is on the south side of the lake -- not in Mildred as it defaulted to in the listing))

We decided to begin sharing the property with other families in 2006, after our first daughter was born. It was not as easy for us to get-away every weekend, as it was before kids. (I'm sure all of you parents out there can relate!!). We throughly enjoy being a part of helping people plan the get-aways with family and friends!

What makes this house unique

As we have two daughters and have traveled extensively with them....we realize how nice it is to have baby gear when you travel to new places! Therefore, our home is fully equipped with all of the things a family with small children will need while they are away.

We also realize that not everyone may have access to a boat when they come down -- therefore we make our canoe and paddleboat available for you to use to see the lake while you are here!

I know I would feel like my right arm was cut-off without my wireless internet -- so it is provided at no additional charge as well.

We understand that pets are an important part of many people's family and welcome those who are well-behaved and non-destructive. (You wouldn't want to bring them if they were, right?!)

VRBO Bear enjoying the beautiful cove on the private wooded lot.

VRBO Bear stayed here

Dec 22, 2008

Located on a private wooded lot in a beautiful cove of Richland Chambers Lake, this home offered the perfect den-like setting. We didn’t have any problems getting there because the owner sent us a detailed map and easy-to-follow directions, along with tons of local information on anything and everything there was do in the local area (from where we could purchase bait to a recommended walking/jogging route). The young bears were particularly excited about roasting marshmallows, so the information provided about campfires was greatly appreciated. The home itself was perfect for a large bear clan of family & friends traveling together. The living area, kitchen and dining area were large enough for the entire group to enjoy at the same time. The bedrooms were roomy and the comfy beds were outfitted with luxurious linens. All in all, the house was extremely comfortable for small and big bears alike. The amenities made this home standout from other vacation rentals I’ve stayed at. Believe me- I’ve stayed in a lot of homes! It was the BEST-equipped home because the owners have thought of everything- from toys to a rolling white board for playing Pictionary to a little picnic table for toddlers. The kitchen was perfect for hungry bears and even featured two coffee pots (one for regular and one for decaf). Bears naturally have a lot of energy, so some of us can’t handle all the caffeine! From sunrise to sunset, our group enjoyed playing football in the yard, kayaking, paddle boating, fishing on the lake and building campfires. When we weren’t outside, we were able to relax in the spacious home and take advantage of the indoor amenities including the ping pong table, video game console, and extensive movie library. It was truly a great weekend getaway, perfect for any big bear gathering! The VRBO Bear

HomeAway Stayed Here

This home is much better than the photos and the description on this ad. Because we work for HomeAway, we stay in many, many vacation rental homes. This home is by far THE best equipped home we have ever stayed in. The owners have everything you can imagine from a perfectly stocked kitchen, toys and games for the little ones and even a boat and kayak! The house is located in a wooded cove directly on the water. If you have infants, be sure to ask them for thier list of infant items they have. You cannot go wrong with this home!

Great property. Plenty of room and clean.

  • 5 of 5

The home was a perfect retreat while we played in the 8U state softball tourney. The house was plenty big for two families (8 total). We didn't even get on each others nerves lol. The canoe and paddle boat were a hit with the children. House had plenty of life jackets too. Really neat setup and only a 35 minute drive into Corsicana for our games. We really enjoyed our stay and would do it again if in the area.

An Excellent Secluded Getaway

  • 4 of 5

This property was a great setting for our family reunion this June. It is quite secluded, so be prepared to drive a distance to do a full marketing or visit attractions. The home inside is quite comfortable, with all items and amenities indicated are available. However, their are no chests of drawers in any of the bedrooms. So be prepared to use what is available. The rest of the home inside is well-maintained, clean and air conditioned.

The property is located on 4 acres of wooded land with a wonderful view of the lake. Their is a dock for fishing and sunbathing. With that said, the outside maintainence(cleaning of outside of home) leaves a lot to be desired. Cobwebs, dirt, wasp and hornet nests dominated the patio and walkway areas. We hope this has been addressed since are visit.

For those who desire a quiet location with little distraction, this is it! The owner provided good customer service, and we would recommend this property to anyone who wishes to have a quite getaway.

We just spent 5 wonderful...

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 5 wonderful days at this lakehouse with our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren (ages 8 and 12).

We enjoyed the cove and all its wildlife and spent a lot of time, kayaking, walking, fishing, canoeing and listening to all the birds, otters, owls and bullfrogs. Its such a peaceful setting.

The home is really warm and welcoming. Very kid friendly. Our grandkids never ran out of things to do around the water, but when it was time to come in at night, they had a real good time playing with the many games available. We especially like "Table Conversaitons."

There are very well thought out items you can purchase if you forgot something. There are even a few complimentary items as well.

I honestly feel that our family bonded on another level this year by selecting a lakehouse like this, so serene and quiet. Spending quality time together without the hussle and bustle of running here and there to occupy our time, made for one of the best spring breaks ever.

Our stay was a very positive experience on many levels, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Can't wait to go back! :)

Great location + great amenities = great vacation

  • 5 of 5

There were 10 in our party (7 adults, 3 kids) and no one was crowded at any time. Everyone thanked me for finding this wonderful place. It's private and quiet and well provisioned. The towels were big and thirsty. The bed linen was excellent quality. Everything we needed was there, and much more. We stayed 3 nights and cooked all our meals in the house. We try to plan our shared mini-vacations so that eveyone has at least one cooking day and one off day but at more than one point there were 3 cooks in the kitchen and there was plenty of room for us to dance around each other. All the kids (especially the 5-year old boy) and guys loved the dock for fishing. The pre-teen girls loved the ping-pong & kayak & paddle boat. A short trip to "The Store" in Winkler found excellent steaks and huge potatos for baking. We were very happy with our visit.

Beautiful get away

  • 5 of 5

Do not miss an opportunity to stay at this beautiful lake house. It is a beautiful setting; the lake, trees, birds, herons, fish jumping in the cove. The kayak and paddle boat are a great way to explore the cove. The house is very roomy. All bedrooms very large with large closets, especially the master bedroom and bathroom! The kitchen is extremely well stocked. We had adults, teenagers and young children and there was something for everyone. We ate burgers at The Store one evening and they make the finest hamburger we've ever eaten. If you want to boat or jet ski; bring your own. The rentals on the lake are presently non existent. The homeowners are unbelievably nice and accomodating. We would recommend this home to anyone wanting a beautiful setting in a comfortable environment.
