The Space:
Iris Cottage has a cosy and homely living room, with wooden roof beams running elegantly across the ceilings, a comfy sofa, two matching, equally-comfortable armchairs and a flat-screen TV - this is a truly relaxing space for you to fall back on after your action-packed days exploring all that Pickering and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside has to offer.
The apartment's kitchen is full of character. With green wooden cupboards and drawers, the room is given a traditional, yet stylish look. All readily equipped with all the modern appliances that you’ll need to make the most of culinary grand designs from dishwasher to fridge-freezer, and kettle to oven and hobs. From there you can go ahead and take in the whole house for a meal together in the dining room, where four plush chairs surround the fine table set up.
Head to either of the two bedrooms and you’ll find tranquil spaces for easy living and soothing nights rest. There is a king size bedroom, as well as a super king. This bed can be split to form two singles, making Iris Cottage ideal for families staying with children. If this is something you are interested in, you will need to request this prior to your stay. All beds are made up using plush bedding and premium bed linens to ensure that you have the best night’s sleep possible. Both bedrooms are also en-suite. One has a bathtub, separate shower, WC, and wash basin, whilst the other en-suite boasts a shower, basin and WC.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full apartment. Keys are accessed via a key safe and the details will be provided to guests shortly before their arrival date.
There is private parking for one vehicle available to guests to the rear of Iris Cottage.
Please note that the outdoor space on offer at Iris Cottage is semi-enclosed and is not suitable for sitting in.

Iris Cottage is perfectly located in the market town of Pickering. The thriving town has plenty of independent shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars so you won’t tire of things to do. Explore Pickering Castle which is packed with a rich history dating back to the 12th century. Enjoy a walk on the iconic Cleveland Way, or head to Dalby Forest where you can explore the gentle woodland trails. Prefer to push yourself to the extreme? Go Ape Adventure Centre is for you!
From the beautiful North York Moors, to the expansive Great Yorkshire Forest and finally the delightful North Yorkshire coast, Pickering is ideally situated where you can experience everything the county has to offer.

Pickering has great bus routes with journeys to York, Malton, Thirsk, Helmsley, Whitby, Scarborough and Leeds.
The nearest mainline railway station can be found 8 miles away in Malton with routes to Scarborough, Manchester and Liverpool amongst others.
Iris Cottage is located just a short 10-minute walk to Pickering rail station where you can experience the infamous North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The station is a must see with a 1930s theme, so you’ll be transported back in time to the steam era. From here, you can travel to popular destinations such as Whitby, Grosmont and Goathland.

Stylish apartment
This property was extremely clean, stylish and well-equipped. It is spacious and well laid out.
It may be that we didn’t read the listing carefully enough, but it came as a bit of a surprise that the cottage is a ground floor apartment with an occupied flat above. That said, there was little noise. The property is situated on a busy road and so there was inevitably some traffic noise. The garden alluded to in the listing is simply the concrete back entrance to the property., which was disappointing.
All that said, we had a very enjoyable stay.

Spotlessly clean and well equipped except for one chipped large plate. Convenient location. Interior lovely. Liked the environmental 'green' emphasis at the cottage. Negative comments: noisy in front bedroom from traffic noise starting at approx 4.30am so sleep poor. Key pad inoperable initially - two of the code numbers would not press - we think the key behind was preventing the numbers from being pressed. Took five attempts to get the key pad to work. Back door is warped and does not close properly. Heating would not work. Hot water only tepid. There was also a smell from drains in the back bedroom. These are comments to improve the stay experience of future guests. Overall, good value for money.

I'm sorry to hear about the early morning traffic noise, the keypad issue on arrival, the warped back door, and the heating and water temperature concerns. Lovely property in the village of Pickering,parking available on premises.Lovely and clean inside and everything you would need for your break.Right in the heart of the village with shops in walking distance and close to the castle.
The only downside was communication,it took 3 emails then a phone call to get any response regarding staying an extra night.There needs to be a mirror in the front bedroom over the dressing table ,had to use the other guest room to dry my hair and then we had to move the big mirror near a socket plug.There needs to be an outside light outside the door at night ,we couldn’t see a thing when we arrived back at night.This is a downstairs apartment so bare in mind that there is noise from the upstairs guests especially if they have children running up and down the room.
You can’t get into your property till 4 pm but have to be out by 10am which is not even 24hours in the property!
