Studio with sleeping for four and amazing Mountain Views
Come experience the quieter side of Cody in our cozy log cabin studio with amazing views! Located only 20 miles from town, you can enjoy the many activities Cody has to offer and then retreat to your own private studio for true relaxation.
Originally an art studio for one of Cody’s own artists, Lucille Patrick, this charming building has been converted into a Southfork oasis. The Studio features a queen bed, daybed with trundle, kitchenette and a separate bathroom with a shower/bath combination.
Outside, relax on a private covered deck in your own fenced-in yard where you can grill, sit back and enjoy the gorgeous views and wildlife!
Situated on the South Fork of the Shoshone river, you will be submerged in wilderness and the breathtaking beauty of the Washakie Wilderness. Your drive to the studio will take you along the scenic South Fork valley of the Shoshone river with incredible views of Carter Mountain, the Buffalo Bill reservoir and Castle Rock.
Surrounded by private ranches and National Forests, you will be in close driving distance to the Carter Mountain access road, the Deer Creek Campground, and the Shoshone National Forest where there is excellent hiking, wildlife viewing and trout fishing opportunities.

Pristine studio with a perfect view
Our experience at the Paintbrush Studio is almost too perfect to put into words. We had seen the pictures on the website and texted with Becky but both are even better in person. Our stay at the studio was only suppose to be somewhere to sleep before our stay inside Yellowstone Park. Instead it became our favorite place in a 10 day adventure that included Jackson Hole, the Tetons and Yellowstone. Everything about it is peaceful and soothing. Becky had set up an atmosphere were all we had to do was relax. The studio is comfy with a pleasant decor. The kitchen is well stocked and immaculate. There is a selection of movies to fit everyones taste. For me, the best part was sitting on the porch in the morning drinking coffee, reading and enjoying the view, and because I am an animal lover, Jasper the cat as my companion was a huge added bonus. My husband is an avid newspaper reader so he sat inside, in the leather recliner next to bank of windows which cover the front of the studio, and enjoyed his morning routine. We had such a lovely time we dropped our original plans to go to Yellowstone during the day and instead stayed in Cody were we spent a large part of our day at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West Museum ( a tip from Becky) which is a must see. Around sunset we ventured down the road from the studio and came upon a herd of elk, many more than we saw in Jackson Hole or Yellowstone.
I am not sure when we will get a chance to return to Wyoming but if we do we will definitely return to the Paintbrush Studio and for a much longer stay.
The studio was perfect. It had everything we needed, was neat, clean, and beautifully decorated. It was away from town which we loved, but close enough to town activity.
Very nice little cabin with a great view of the mountains.
Very nice little cabin with a great view of the mountains. This is a perfect place for two people looking for a place that is not a standard hotel/motel room. Nicely decorated, with small kitchen that is ok for reheating food but not for cooking a meal (who wants to cook on vacation, anyway?)
Host is attentive and answered questions immediately. We would come again in a heartbeat.
We loved this beautiful studio/cabin. When we arrived Rebecca welcomed us offering assistance or any information we may need. Upon entering the studio not only was it immaculately clean but also very comfortable and homey. Beds were comfy with more than enough bedding. There is a variety of movies and games supplied, also wifi available. There is a binder on counter with information on activities and places to see, also includes information on everything you may need to know about studio.
We would not hesitate to stay again. It was everything we wanted and hoped for; clean and comfortable with amazing views in every direction!
Thank you for having us,
The Gifford Family
Charming studio log cabin in a beautful rural Western setting, superb hosting, HIGHLY recommend!
At first I was hesitant to book: 20 miles outside Cody seemed like a long way when we were there to enjoy the rodeo, Old Trail Town, the Center of the West museum, and other in-town activities. But we wanted a cabin with a kitchenette, and we wanted to relax in the evenings away from crowds and noise. I showed my wife the listing and she thought it looked perfect. The amenities were right, the price was good, and Rebecca seemed nice when I inquired, so I booked two nights.
Rebecca's directions were excellent and it was not hard to find, even as dusk approached. The drive from town was not difficult or particularly long, although we did slow down due to our initial unfamiliarity and coming darkness. Traffic was nil. Rebecca greeted us on site and made sure we were satisfied and had all we needed.
The property is nestled between two mountain ranges in a wide valley along the south fork of a river. It had lightly rained before our arrival and the air was perfumed with sagebrush and cedar. A few head of cattle roamed the property around us. All we could hear was a light breeze through the vegetation and the river rippling through its channel through the pasture and down the valley. The moon rose brightly over the mountains to the west.
Inside the cabin, everything was neat, clean, and suitably furnished for the four of us. It was charmingly decorated with vintage Western themed photographs and art, without being overdone or kitchy. There were fans and a ceiling fan for cooling, but the cabin temps were comfortable, in spite of a warm July week outside (and I'm one who can't sleep in a hot room). The bathroom was more than adequate with no problems; my only comment for improvement here was that it could get a bit humid without a vent fan, but we used a portable desk fan and all was well.
We cooked a meal here one night and everything worked as it should. The fridge is small, but held all we needed for a couple nights' stay. Dining in the cabin was an enjoyable experience. On a nice night, if mosquitos weren't active, dining on the porch would be even better.
Making the drive in daylight, we discovered just how beautiful a setting we had. We passed the Castle Rock formation on the way. A little snow remained near the mountaintops.
Rebecca was the perfect hostess: attentive, helpful, but not intrusive. We truly relaxed and enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend for a family of four visiting Cody or Yellowstone.
Lovely, sunny cabin with fantastic mountain views!
We found Rebecca's studio immaculate, bright and very comfortable. Large windows opened up to beautiful views, yet we had plenty of privacy. The bed was wonderful, but my favorite spot to curl up in the entire cabin was the big leather chair! The porch was the perfect place for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine as the sun went down. Rebecca welcomed us and had prepared a list of activities, restaurants, museums and just about any other information we would need during our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights and highly recommend the Paintbrush Studio!
Thanks so much Robin! Your comment made my week. I am glad you enjoyed our studio. You two were wonderful guests and we would love to have you back any time!
