Charming, cosy and unique cottage a stones throw from the sea in charming Newlyn - one of the last fully operational fishing harbours in the UK.
Treat yourself and stay at this 100 year old cottage newly and entirely renovated to a very high spec - including dedicated parking.
The cottage has a wonderful history where crab baskets were woven in support of the famous Newlyn crab and fishing industry.
It is located a few meters from the fishing harbour and Newlyn's famous seaside coastal walk.

Great Location & Clean

We had a great stay in Newlyn and the surrounding area. This place is clean and well maintained. Owner was very responsive to my questions. Would definitely stay here again.

A delightful cottage in a great location

We had a wonderful stay at the Basket Loft. The cottage was tastefully decorated with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The location was excellent, right in the middle of Newlyn,close to a great pub and good restaurants.

Wonderful stay in Cornwall

Gord was a wonderful host who provided detailed information about the property and the surrounding area. The property was lovely and very comfortable. Super convenient location with restaurants, pubs, and grocery within walking distance. We highly recommend this property.

Lovely short break

We had a great time staying at this property. Its in a great location to explore Newlyn and West Cornwall. The property itself is beautifully decorated but at the same time very cozy. We immediately felt right at home. We'll be back!

Cute place near the water

This cottage was great for our 2 night stay in Newlyn. We could walk to restaurants and shops, leaving the car in the available parking space. The owner was super helpful with ideas of where to shop, eat and explore in Newlyn and surrounding areas.

The Basket Loft - A Lovely ‘bolt hole’ in Newlyn

Super little, well equipped, cottage with easy walks to a range of very good restaurants. Ideally situated for gentle strolls along the promenade to Penzance and its wonderful views of Mounts Bay.We had a wonderful and relaxing break, with morning coffee or evening tipple on the balcony watching the moon over Newlyn.Gord, the owner could not have been more helpful while we were there, a super host.

Our second time in this beautiful cottage, perfectly located at Newlyn harbour. We just love being there. Gord always has the best tips for restaurants, what to do, what to see. This time I did two of his recommended coast path walks and was alone (!) at Land’s End. Thanks for this marvellous week.

Great host, great property, lovely area

Well appointed, character-filled cottage. Beautifully furnished and decorated. West Cornwall is a fabulous place to stay with a great many beaches, ancient landscapes for exploring and tourist attractions. Gord was a great host and Newlyn is a fantastic place to stay with great food (Jelbert's ice cream is a must-try, Tolcarne Inn is unbeatable for fish dishes and there are enough pubs for every day of the week)! Thoroughly recommended!

Smashing weekend away

Perfectly placed to walk into Penzance. We also drove to lots of local and beautiful places all within half an hour. Great to sit and look out over the harbour too. Gord was very responsive and super helpful.

Such a beautiful cottage and location

Such a beautifully finished cottage, very well appointed and in a cute location. The town it's in is great, try Eddie's for fish and chips and you must take Cliff Road into Mousehole. Gord was a fantastic, helpful and attentive host. Tight to get a car into the parking spot but all else was wonderful.

We loved our stay here!

Our 5 nights here were more enjoyable than we had imagined. Right from the first communication with Gord we were impressed with the service he offers. The cottage is newly refurbished, well appointed and also well set up to enable us to work for 4 days. We also loved the fresh seafood and nice cafes in Newlyn. We didn't want to leave.

Amazing!!!

Amazing place! The house is very clean and tastefully decorated. The location is perfect- remote and peaceful, yet lots of lovely little grocery shops, coffee shops, ice cream parlours, take away places and restaurants within walking distance. 15-20 minutes drive to Land's End or Minack Theatre. Great base for exploring Cornwall.

Lovely spot in Newlyn

Great location- walkable to charming shops in Newlyn and a nice walk to Mousehole. Gord was readily available when we had a question about the door lock and was friendly and helpful. The apartment was immaculate and beautifully decorated- cosy and welcoming. We loved our visit and will recommend it to friends traveling to Cornwall.

What a gem of a place

Gord’s place was amazing! Honestly we didn’t want to leave 😀 it was very clean, beautifully decorated with lots of great touches made it soo cosy! The cottage was a great base to explore Newlyn, Mousehole and Penzance. Gord was a fantastic host always reactive to messages. I will miss my morning cuppa overlooking the sea. We will definitely be back, thanks again for such a comfortable stay.

Awesome spot!

The Basket loft is an ideal spot for checking out the area. Walkable to penzance, mousehole and the St Michael’s mount start but without the traffic and busyness of Penzance. Gord gave us fantastic dinner recommendations and we loved them all. The home is completely stocked with spices, press coffee maker and all the items needed to make meals. The little deck area is a lovely spot for cocktail hour. And Gord was super easy to work with! You will be glad you stayed here

Wonderful spot outside of Penzance!

We had such a wonderful experience at this Harborside cottage. It was clean, had enough room, was a stones throw away from the Harborside boardwalk, and had a lovely coffee house nearby right through the art gallery (Fika). Gord was accessible for questions, and was very helpful. If you get a chance, talk to Pippa and Sophie and get recommendations from them. They directed us to a lovely spot on Sonnen beach. We had everything we needed, and was very comfortable and quiet. I couldn’t recommend any higher.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry you had experienced an issue and only wish you had informed me during your stay so I could resolve. I discovered there was a drain blocked in the neighbourhood that was causing a back up in the pipes that may have contributed to an odour which has now been resolved. I am unclear what the heating issue you experienced was but the heating is currently working. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention.
