Town: Chudleigh is an ancient wool town situated in the Teignbridge District region of Devon, offering a wealth of historical and picturesque attractions to explore year-round. The town's history dates back to the Saxon period, with numerous Saxon place names remaining in use today, as well as historical marvels such as the caverns at Rock and a hillfort from the Iron Age that overlooks the town. For a self-catered stay, Chudleigh offers a variety of services, such as two pubs, an English restaurant, convenience stores, quaint shops, and more. The Teign Valley is a stunning, steep, wooded valley on the eastern edge of Dartmoor National Park between the communities of Dunsford and Chudleigh. Christow, Lower and Higher Ashton, Dunsford, and Hennock are idyllic tourist destinations surrounded by breathtaking landscapes of hills, fields, rivers, and thatched cottages. The entire area in and around Chudleigh is a walker's paradise with wonderful views. If you're feeling a bit more energetic, you can try rock climbing, kayaking on the adjacent River Teign, mountain biking, or hiking in the surrounding area and beyond. Spend a day at the traditional seaside town of Dawlish, perfect for calm beach days with a selection of family-friendly diversions and amusements, while The Lawn and Brook is where you will discover the renowned beautiful black swans. Spend a day in the historic city of Exeter, with its magnificent City Walls around its centre and its Gothic cathedral, Exeter Castle, and numerous more landmarks awaiting discovery. With convenient access to Dartmoor National Park and close proximity to the attractions of Newton Abbot, Torquay, and Paignton, Chudleigh is the best location from which to enjoy Devon's coast and countryside.
