Solar Egas Moniz - Charming House & Local Experiences

Solar Egas Moniz Charming House & Local Experiences is a manor house from 1890, located in Paço de Sousa (Penafiel), region of vinho verde and just 30 minutes from the city of Porto or 45 minutes from the Douro. This manor has got 10 double rooms and has been restored, maintaining its original characteristics, in order to preserve history, endowing it with modernity and comfort. Maximum capacity 20 people.

On the ground floor of the historic house, guests can enjoy the library located in the first room of the house. Here you will also find a corner with a work table waiting for you. Sofas, bookcases and a salamander, as well as the use of the old "loveseats" of the house, ask that you sit here a little. In this area furniture with local products brings a certain charm, we want you to take a little of our region with you to offer or simply remember.

In continuity, you will find the enoteca, where you can use the wines you will find here, highlighting the region's green wines, but also a sample of other regions of the country. You can use them (honesty bar), with the prices properly presented. This is also a beautiful living room with a sofa and TV. For colder days this space and the dining room share a fireplace, and we will add wood to be able to enjoy this unique moment that is the sound of the fireplace crackling. The kitchen is right next door, at your disposal and equipped with all the utensils to prepare beautiful meals.

The outdoor swimming pool is open from May to October and we will provide you with umbrellas, sun loungers and towels. The children's park will cheer up the little ones, so that they can be outside, with their feet on the grass or relaxing on a blanket, while the little ones play. Children will also enjoy seeing the cats that stroll around here. The friendly Mel is very affable and likes to come and play with the children.

On the top floor of the house you will find the rooms, all properly equipped, with air conditioning and with an extremely careful and thoughtful decoration. There are 6 double rooms in the historic wing of Solar and 4 double rooms in a new built wing. The rooms are located on the 1st floor.

Nearby, and within walking distance, you will find grocery, bakery and cafes.

Portuguese history is also evident in the geographical area where the Manor is located, namely in the route and discovery of the “Rota do Românico”, starting point for a journey full of culture and heritage.
