Host did not send entry code until noon the day before, even when I requested - I’d read the VRBO quoted policy as 72hours in advance; she declined. It was my first VRBO experience; it made me feel uneasy. The neighborhood is well-located but still “transitional”. That was fine as it seems perfectly safe. It is close to a nicer area of town.Spaces are generally nice enough and the common space as pictured, quite lovely. But:The double bedroom had only one towel, one washcloth (no hand towel). The little (tiny) bedroom had NO towels but since the 3d bedroom had two extra large towels we were able to manage. I found the lack of towels incredibly inadequate (and a silly cost saving if that was the point) for 3 adults staying 5 days. The curtain in the tiny bedroom was half pulled down - a shoddy look. The ice maker did not work and there was no ice. The hot water eventually worked but there’s a tricky process and I had to get specific direction from the host. I question what the “cleaning” and the “service” fees - better to include in the rate than add on these surprises. There was no evidence of any attention to us or the apartment while there.Importantly, It should be noted in the information that this apartment requires walking up three full flights of steep stairs - about 20. Again, we managed but we are not young.By contrast, we went up to El Valle for a day and night and stayed at an exceptional VRBO property.
