Located just 2 miles south of Noel on Highway 59 and nestled between the bluffs and Bluff Dwellers Cave is The Cavern Inn. The limestone house was home to C. Arthur Browning, who discovered Bluff Dwellers Cave in 1925. This limestone house was originally built in the late 1920’s and as the family grew, an addition was added which almost doubled the size of the home. What was once 5 bedrooms upstairs has been converted into 3 rooms, each with its own private bathroom. In addition to the kitchen and open living room, the main floor has a king bedroom which is handicap accessible. Upstairs there are two king bedrooms and one queen. Linens and towels are provided. There's a room upstairs, no bed but has a sofa; could easily throw two sleeping bags down or an air mattress.
Central heat and air is throughout the house as the upstairs was updated February 2023.
Noel is known for beautiful cliffs and limestone overhangs along Missouri Highways 59 & 90 as it winds along the Elk River. Elk River offers lot of opportunities in Noel for river rafting, canoeing, and kayaking so it’s close enough for adventure and far enough to qualify as a true escape! Fall is particularly beautiful when the trees are vivid with an autumn palette of red, orange, gold, and brown. The Inn offers breathtaking views of the bluffs and pond. Modern amenities include Wi-fi, tv, (no cable), dvd player, and private bathrooms. The common area is expansive and occupies most of the main floor. Windows surround the room. The kitchen is at the back of the house and has windows on three sides affording breath-taking views of the wooded area.
You’ll enjoy sitting out on the patio. It’s awesome with a granite inlaid floor and ornate ceiling fan to circulate the air. The back patio has a BBQ grill, but you'll need to provide your own charcoal. There's also a fire pit and some benches. Wood for burning is usually available.
Nearby attractions include Crystal Bridges (45 minutes), Precious Moments (1 hour) Roaring River State Park (1.5 hours), Grand Lake 'O the Cherokee (45 minutes) and numerous sites for canoeing and rafting are within 2 to 5 miles of The Cavern Inn. Branson, MO is a little over 2 hours and Eureka Springs, AR is about 1.5 hours.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our host was exceptional and process for checkin and out was so easy and she was responsive to us during our stay. The property is very comfortable, in a beautiful location and a perfect base for all of our activities!! Will stay again if ever we travel that way again. Thank you
We loved the house, exactly as described. Beautiful scenery, explored the cave on the property. Owners were kind and informative. Enjoyed our stay there very much.
We absolutely loved our stay here! Beds were comfortable, rooms are spacious, and each bedroom has its own full bath, which worked well for our large group! Ann was easy to get ahold of and the property is easy to find, and close to the check in location for River Ranch Resort.
The host was very welcoming and available to answer questions. The downstairs bed was not comfortable for 2 people. Probably could use an upgrade. Upstairs was very nice. Best place for 7 adults we've found! Lots of amenities that made our stay really nice.Thank you!

It was disappointing to hear about the queen bed on the main floor. We will be doing a sleep test of our own and check it out. Glad to hear the other rooms checked out okay.
We love the house! I cook so the kitchen is great. We gather for breakfast or one morning we ate on the front porch. Love how all the bedrooms have there own bathroom. We will be back
This was our 3rd year staying here for a float trip. As always, it was a wonderful experience and the accommodations can’t be beat! Immaculately kept, cold air conditioning, and plenty of space to spread out makes this location unmatched! We also love the history and character of this beautiful home! Once again, we will be returning!
Really enjoyed my 60th Birthday weekend with all of my family. The accommodations were perfect for our weekend getaway and the home was everything I had hoped for. The rooms were perfect for the 8 adults we had and the front porch was our favorite stop. I'm sure we will be back and everyone left talking about next year.

Glad the family enjoyed your visit. The front porch is our favorite place to hang out, too. Happy belated birthday!
There was 4 couples staying here all family and the house delivered on every aspect. Every bedroom had a bathroom.. The house is very open and large for families who dont want to be on top of you.. Several porches with plenty of seating. Fire pit for those extra memories you want to make.We have already booked our next stay here. The grounds are beautiful..
Our stay here with a group of friends was absolutely perfect. This beautiful and charming home has everything you need, plus more. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms were equipped with everything you would need. We also enjoyed the front porch and back area with the firepit. The owners were so kind and went over and beyond to make our stay perfect. I can't wait to visit again!

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at The Cavern Inn.
This was the perfect place for us to stay for a nearby wedding. My family of 5 and sisters family of 4 were quite comfortable. Each room has its own bathroom and the kitchen is well stocked, just wished we had time to stay longer and enjoy all the amenities and explore the nearby cave. Anne was very easy to communicate with and responsive. Thanks!
This cozy home is so amazing. It has everything you need. We used this house during our annual float trip. Roomy and convenient. Owners are amazing. They even gave us a private tour of the on property cave after hours. This is above and beyond expectations. Thank you so much

Charming property, plenty of room
This space was perfect for two couples and two singles. Each had a private bedroom and bath. Large living room with enough seating for all. We brought a firestick so we could watch any show we wanted through wifi as tv is limited otherwise. Large kitchen had plenty of space for several of us to be preparing a meal at the same time. Owners are very friendly and considerate, and they provide lots of little extras to make the stay very enjoyable.

About the host
Hosted by Ann Bunch
Ray and I are "retired" and part owners of Bluff Dwellers Cave and The Cavern Inn. Ray's grandpa discovered the cave and it is still run by the family. We are the 3rd generation. We stay really busy in the spring and summer since we do most of the mowing and quite a bit of the weed eating on the grounds. When his mom, youngest daughter of Arthur, passed away in 2015, Ray took over management of the cave and inn. His brother and sister are silent partners. Ray's been in the distribution/logistics field most of his life.
Ray was raised in Wichita, KS and graduated from Wichita State. Ann grew up in Andale, KS and met Ray while attending Wichita State. Ray's career choice has relocated us several times - from Wichita to Victorville, CA and then Bedford TX, Evansville, IN, West Chester, OH, Pleasant Hill, MO, Duncan, OK and now retiring here in Noel, MO. We have two boys, both married, and 5 grandchildren that are the joys of our life.
Ray always told his aunt Kathleen and his mom, Reita, that he had a desire to keep the cave in the family he's doing that.
