The house is situated in a unique location. The property joins the Swannanoa river on the back end and even features river access.
This home has been recently updated and has many new features. We added a new bathroom suite for the master bedroom. We also feature a fully stocked library with many books on spirituality, natural health and DIY lifestyles.
The house features a newly added deck facing the sunny side to the South. From here you look over green meadows with trees in front of the river. On the meadows are new residents: Two Highland cows from Scotland! They are busy keeping the grass cut and maintained. They are very friendly, tame and curious!
The property features one of the largest mineral collections in the area. Hundreds of quartz boulders have been hand selected in a local quarry and used for landscaping by the river. The beautiful Swannanoa river can be reached over a short trail. There are many secluded places to relax and to unwind.
I grew up in the USA and spent 18+ years in Germany and France. I have traveled and lived in Mexico, Africa and throughout most of Europe. I studied communication design, photography and languages.
I live in East Asheville and work in the media field producing tutorial videos and designing web sites.
Andreas (Andy) Otto purchased this house in 2016
This property offers unique opportunities for recreation, relaxation and experiencing nature in its purest form. It is surrounded by many miles of hiking trails, lakes, creeks and rivers. All nestled within the oldest mountains in the world!
Had a great time, took some time to feed the cows and sit by the river. A lovely serene place.
Your mountain home was just as cozy and warm as we expected. We were surprised that the kitchen was so well stocked, the beds were comfy cozy, and the mountain atmosphere just as expected. The cows, though not quite as friendly as we expected, were quite a treat to watch although their attempt at being friendly made my daughter quite uncomfortable and she was the one that backed off. We hope to plan a longer stay in the future and would gladly recommend this nice haven in the mountains.
Bee Tree Hive is a great little jewel in Swannanoa. It was recently remodeled and very clean with everything provided plus more that you would find in a nice hotel. The owner added so many little extras to make us feel like special guests. The house sits on several acres with a huge field in back with 2 highland cows and a walking path to the Swannanoa River. If we're ever in the area, we will be sure to stay here again! The only reason I gave the stay 4 stars was simply some minor repairs are still being done. What a clean, nice stay!!
The property is very close to Owen public park that offers free fishing on the shore of the two lakes and off of a floating fishing pier. The park also has a playground, basketball court, baseball field and walking trails next around the lakes.
Within a one minute drive there is also the Swannanoa river trail that follows the river on the property of the Warren Wilson College campus.
Within a few minute drive you can find the entrance to the blue ridge parkway that leads to famous destinations like Mount Mitchell, Craggy gardens or shining rock.
