About this property

Luxury Historic House for Grp accommodation-village location near Bath-Somerset

The Malthouse is a large self catering house near Bath, Somerset, perfect for large groups, including families and groups of friends. Additionally, The Malthouse is also ideal for weddings and special occasions. For example, we have hosted baby showers, birthday parties, anniversaries and welcomed many bridal parties who are attending a wedding nearby.

This large house for rent boasts 7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and handcrafted large Kitchen dinning area, sleeping up to 14 people with 4 bathrooms, providing everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Additionally, combine our Studio Apartment, and this will allow a total of 16 guests to stay here in total.

There are two sitting rooms at The Malthouse, but we like to refer to the other as ‘The Garden Room‘. Through the kitchen and into the sitting room, you will be welcomed by an inglenook fireplace, which is very welcoming on those colder evenings. Enjoy gazing into the flames on the deep sofa, with cosy lighting. You will find the room is comfortable and thoughtfully furnished with large cushions and throws. Additionally, we have added a table if you need to work from home. We do supply some wood for the fire, however, we would suggest ordering more through us before you arrive.

The Malthouse is steeped in history, some parts dating back to the 15th century, and has been lovingly restored from the ground up! set in the picturesque village of Norton St Philip, surrounded by beautiful countryside, making it the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. There are plenty of walking and cycling trails in the area, including the Somerset Coal Canal Trail and the Colliers Way cycle path.

Enjoy a deliciouse meal in the George Inn pub next door, one of the oldest in England.

World-class sights such as Stone Henge, Longleat Safari Park, Glastonbury, Brutons Houser & Wirth and many National Trust properties are on the doorstep. Furthermore, the beautiful City of Bath is only a 10 minute drive away.

Well behaved dogs are welcome at The Malthouse with many walks that surround the area. Simply let us know that you would like to bring your four legged friend when booking.

Was a really lovely stay, house was clean and well stocked with what we needed. There was so much space for everyone and really convenient having the parking close by as well. Thank you for a great stay.

Beautiful house, full of character, excellent amenities for large groups. Not suitable for people with mobility needs due to uneven floorings / steps etc. Warm, very comfortable. Excellent communication. Wonderful pub next door. Lovely views and garden. Ample parking.

It was a pleasure hosting Faye and family/friends. All very respectful of the house and surrounds and very communicative most welcome back. As pointed out and we do mention it in our description to take care when walking around and due to the nature of the building you must be very able in doing stairs and steps and some low door ways, one slightly slanted floor which adds to the character of the building 15th century.
