The house was an ideal location for our 3 night stay in Stanley. Close to town but very quiet and peaceful with amazing views of the Sawtooth's.

John and his family were exactly the type of guests that we like the most. People that enjoy nature and recreating outside. Very nice family that is always welcome at Doc's Lodge.
What a great experience! The listing was accurate, the house was great, and the location is unbeatable. Jeff and CJ were very friendly and gave us great recommendations on local hikes and things to do. They were very responsive to questions and the overall energy of the place was great. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway I can't recommend thjs enough.
We can’t wait to come back! Owners Jeff and CJ are great and will make sure you are covered. The location is amazing! Kids and I found one of many amazing fishing holes right outside the property. Highly recommend.

Having Chuck and his family was so much fun, we really enjoyed seeing the kids enjoying the front yard and fishing. They are always welcome back at Doc's Lodge!
We really enjoyed staying here. It was cozy, loved the porch and the view, loved the location and being right on the creek. We could walk to town (.5 mile) if we wanted to. We could also very clearly hear the outdoor music from the mountain village.
The main drawback for us was that although it does sleep up to 7, we definitely felt cramped with 5 adults in 2 bedrooms and one bathroom, especially with the upstairs being under renovation and not accessible.

I was sorry to see we received less than a five star review from you. You mentioned the accommodations were cramped because the upstairs wasn't available. The upstairs has never been available and if it was the accommodations like any others would be considerably more expensive. Clearly in the home's information it states that the upstairs isn't available and lists the unit as a 2 BED 1 BATH facility. Perhaps the one writing the review was not the one booking the property and there were other expectations. When we did the walk through with you we told you we wished to make this a five star stay and please let us know if something isn't right or we can offer area information. We also explained we can't add a bathroom or bedroom besides what is there and that is exactly how the rental is advertised. Things like something broken or something the housekeeper neglected we can remedy, not add a bedroom. We often wonder why a group of 5-7 adults would rent a two bedroom and be upset for lack of room.
We're sorry the live music in town bothered you. It also bothers us too. We have been active in working with the city leaders to find a balance between the town's economy with all the art and music Stanley has and peaceful enjoyment. Stanley is a small town. and rest assured there is nowhere else in town where you would have had it any quieter during the music events that happen several times a summer. We will share the fact that the music distracted you from your vacation with the city leaders and continue to hope for the balance of having a town where people can enjoy music events vs. no activity.
At first little bummed about the fireplace and the dryer, both worked out very well, too hot for the fireplace and it was nice to hang our clothes out side, smelled so good. It’s a great cabin and a beautiful site to sit outside. Close to all the lakes and hiking. Felt like home after a long hike. A little bit off the grid (but worth it ) thank you CJ & Jeff and hope to see you again !

You're absolutely welcome and please come visit again! Yes, the fireplace is closed during the summer months as it will literally heat you out of the house, it just isn't meant for little fires. Come visit in the winter and you can totally enjoy it then! Normally we do not open the laundry to guests but since you were staying a week we made an exception and as we explained before we opened the laundry, the dryer was being revented, and we do hang our laundry outside in the sun to sanitize and have it smell fresh and clean. I would imagine being from New Jersey that Stanley would seem off grid but I do assure everyone that we have all the creature comforts of home including Wifi and Direct TV. We were a little bummed that there was smoking at the property since it is a non smoking property; but Lisa and Joey left the house spotless and I definitely appreciated that!
Gorgeous, well-appointed house close to downtown Stanley & right on a creek. Hosts were very responsive & gave great advice on local trails, activities, etc. Beds were very comfortable. Only negative for us was lack of access to washer/dryer on property. It’s a pain to spend valuable vacation hours at the laundromat. Otherwise this place is a 10 out of 10.

Carrie, Josh and their sons were great guests! Loved having them at Doc's Lodge. Thank you so much for the input on the laundry room and we have decided to open the laundry up for select guests like yourselves.
Doc's Lodge has spectacular mountain views, is river front in a gated community, yet minutes walking (or 1 min driving) from the town center, has 2 bedrooms, and is well suited for a family with (older) kids or 2 couples. Being right in the middle of everything you are close to some awesome restaurants (like Stanley Supper Club or dining at the Sawtooth Hotel), local shops and all the mountain and water activities you want.
The hosts/owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and they live in the cabin next door. I wish we stayed longer and hope to be back soon.

Christina and family are wonderful to have stay in your home. They are very respectful, communicate quickly and are friendly. I would definitely welcome them back anytime!
Great location! Walkable to downtown but feels remote being on the opposite side of the creek. Breathtaking view of the Sawtooth Mountains. Comfortable beds. Would have been nice to have access to laundry & cleaning stuff to tidy up now & then. It would also have been nice to have a some check out instructions & info about what to do with trash / recyclables.

Margaret and Timothy were great guests and we enjoy having guests like them. They did a perfect job cleaning up, taking care of trash and recyclables - I will definitely write down instructions for future guests on what to do with trash and recyclables. Timothy and Margaret are welcome back anytime!
This property was a dump, upon arrival the property owner spent 30 minutes what we had to be careful of bad patio, broken windows, odd front door lock, no children TV thru direct TV ,, that we had to wash our dishes before leaving ( there was no dishwasher,. during our stay we found old bananas in with the pots, no hot water, listing says sleeps 7 and there was only room for 5 and a twin size trundle

Darlene was just nasty from the beginning. She was rude and obviously unhappy to be in Stanley, Idaho. "We had to be careful of bad patio, broken windows" Not sure what Darlene means about a bad patio, none of the windows are broken, we did, however, point out a crack in a window that was done by a previous guest during her walkthrough. Darlene was also confused by the front door, which is an Anderson Door that she seemed to have a hard time operating. Also, yes, you have to do your dishes and may not leave the house full of dirty dishes. And yes, there is not a dishwasher and neither do we advertise that there is one. Again, it looks like Darlene was having some confusion over the water facet, as we have an on demand water heater and always have hot water. She contacted us and we instructed her to turn the facet the other direction - that worked. Direct TV - we subscribe to 151 channels and we offered Darlene to use the Firestick to access even more channels (she refused) and then we even sent her information on the Fish Hatchery and Museum that have additional programs for kids to try to help her find activities for her grand daughter. Our cleaners also want to know if anything was missing or needed to be fixed. Darlene did not share with us any problems, we would have been more than happy to take care of any issues. In the listing we have a queen bed, a full/twin bunk bed and a full trundle. We do sleep 7, the trundle is not a twin it is a full size.
We spent a wonderful few days in Stanley staying in "Doc's Lodge" cabin. The location was perfect - right in town, but it felt very quiet and had the gorgeous Valley Creek running through the yard. It's in a gated community, so traffic is very low. After a long day or hiking or fishing, what a joy to sit on the porch and watch the mountains and listen to the creek. Or even dip your feet in the icy water to feel alive! CJ and Doc were very very nice and you can tell they put a lot of heart and love into this cabin. Communication with them was clear and quick, and check in and out was easy. The cabin had all the amenities we needed, although laundry was not available on the property. There are a few rules to respect the property, but totally understandable. All-in-all, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend.
Terrific location, clean and comfortable. Our flight landed in Boise late but the owner met us at 9 pm to show us around.
There were two minor inconveniences. All the bedroom drawers were full, so little place to put clothing. Also no table with chairs for eating, and only room for 3 at the kitchen counter. All the chairs for eating were high stools.
Would still highly recommend, bed and bathroom and living room were very comfortable, porch is unbeatable and Stanley is the best location to access hiking in the Sawtooths. The owners were very gracious.

Thank you Cindy for your feedback. With the addition currently being added on to the property there will shortly be a large table for family dining or adventure planning. The upstairs will have a media/living room with additional sleeping. There are 5 chairs around the bar currently for eating and 2 additional chairs that seat around the log table. The bedrooms do have additional shelving and storage in the closets for clothing.
Our cabin rental completed our amazing trip to the Sawtooth Mountains. Camille is absolutely delightful, responsive, and helpful. The cabin was clean and in a beautiful location (along a creek with a full view of the mountains). A hiking trip is what brought us to Stanley, and we loved being so close to many trailheads in the Sawtooth range--most were 5-15 miles away. I didn't want to leave, but will definitely be back to Idaho at some point, and would certainly stay at this cabin again!
Our vacation could not have been better! The property is right next to a small creek with gorgeous views of the Sawtooth mountains and the town of Stanley. My adult children were in heaven hiking around Redfish Lake and my husband and I had a fantastic time fly fishing in the nearby creeks. The property owners were very accommodating and responsive to our questions. The property is as beautiful inside as the listing photos show! What I most appreciated about the property was how both the inside and outside spaces were so warm and inviting, and allowed us to gather as a family for a meal or just to enjoy each other along with the peace and quiet.
This place is wonderful. The creek runs right past the house and with the views you may think you are in the middle of nowhere however in less then five minutes you are in downtown with all the activity. House appears to be new and has everything you really need. Couldn't ask for a better vacation.

Kate and her family were wonderful. They will always be welcome here!
Great property for up to four persons located on the banks of Valley Creek which flows into the Salmon River in Salmon, Idaho. The gated community is a plus for safety reasons. A Robins nest with three babies in it was located off the big windows permitting a bit of wildlife viewing without leaving the cabin. Our only dissapointment was in not being able to use the wood stove or in having access to laundry facilities. Perhaps their future plans for this property will include these options, plus the inclusion of the currently unfinished upstairs bedroom. Owners were most helpful with suggestions for places to eat and fishing spots. Loved our stay here and hope to return again.

Joy and her family were great guests and left our home in perfect shape. I would definitely invite them back up to Stanley in the Spring, Fall or Winter when they can use the wood stove. In July with the 80+ degree weather the wood stove just isn't a great idea.
