Traditional fisherman's house, a real taste of village life
The house was lovely, everything we needed for a short break. Ideal for a quieter stay lovely local bakery and shop's and a supermarket round the corner. Maria and Jorge were excellent nothing was too much trouble from booking to arrival they made our stay. Would definitely stay here again.
Thanks for your great comment! We hope to see you again.
Charming home in Vila Nova de Gaia
A charming fisherman’s house on the Vila Nova de Gaia side of the Douro. While the bedrooms are small, they are functional. The house was clean and equipped with basic amenities. Maria and Jorge were excellent hosts. They were in regular contact prior to arrival so checking in was a breeze. Maria came prepared with a map and recommendations for our 2.5 days in Porto. The view of Porto at night from The south side of the Douro is incredible. Recommend this property!
Thank you for your great comment. We hope to see you again.
A delightful little house in a charming fishing village near Porto
We very much enjoyed our stay in Afurada, a charming village on the other side of the Douro River from Porto. The house is delightfully old fashioned, clean and functional. Jorge was very easy to deal with and our visit was smooth. The ferry to Porto from Afurada was not gong the day we wanted to use it, but we found it was quite easy to drive to Vila Novo de Gaia and walk across the bridge to Porto. Highly recommend this as n alternative to staying right in Porto. The house is basic, but for the price, a good buy.
Thank you for yoiur nice comment. I hope to see you again.
Great local experience!
Perfect location just a nice walk from the city centre along the river. Close to nearby beaches & yet quiet also. The best experience was hitting the streets following Portugal winning the Euro Cup over France! The streets of Villa Nova de Gaia absolutely came alive parading Portuguese of all ages with drumming bands, horns yelling Por-tu-gal, Por-tu-gal, Por-tu-gal!!!!
The house is located in Afurada, parish of Vila Nova de Gaia, near the historic center of Porto and Port Wine Cellars. The house is part of a typical fishing village, quiet, near the river, sea and beaches. You can enjoy nature and tourism while staying near the main tourist and historical sites of Porto.
São Pedro da Afurada is a village on the left bank of the Douro, near the mouth of the river. One of the most typical Gaia parishes.
The Afurada is primarily known for its fishing traditions as well as for your party in honor of St. Peter, which is celebrated every year on the first weekend of July and consists of a procession followed a lively outdoor party.
The gastronomy of this parish has a special glow because many of the fish dishes which can be appreciated in its restaurants are the result of the work place.
