FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q) Is the guest house included? Will it be rented to other guests while we are there?
A) The Shasta Suites sleeps 8 and has one bathroom. It is included with the Cabin and is never rented separately.
Q) What is your cancellation policy?
A) As a general rule, reservations cannot be canceled. Depending on time frame and circumstance, owner is willing to accommodate on a case by case basis. Please reach out.
Q) In August how low does the lake get?
A) When the lake is full it has an elevation of 4828 feet. In 2022, it was fullest on June, at 4827.44 feet. On July 19th 2022, it was at 4824.34 feet.
The closest boat ramp to us is at the Donnelly City Park which has an end of ramp elevation of 4817 feet. At the end of August and in September we use the ramp at Rainbow Point, 4814 feet, or the ramp at Poison Creek, 4812 feet.
All of this information and more than you will ever want to know can be found at the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's website.
Q) Is it ok to beach or anchor our boat in front of the cabin?
A) Absolutely. Not only is the beach kid friendly but it's also boat friendly, with a smooth, sandy, gentle slope. We have a permitted mooring buoy. Normally we beach our boat during the days and keep it attached to the mooring buoy during the nights.
We learned that it is not a good idea to drive the boat up onto the beach. Instead, you should cut the engine and glide onto the beach.
Q) Are there any rules about using the beach or surrounding waterfront?
A) On Lake Cascade the beaches are public. Of course, as a guest at the cabin, you have direct access to the beach. If you are not staying at the cabin, but at another lot in the interior, you cannot trespass on the lakefront lots to get to the beach. You can legally get to any beach by boat or by land using an access lot. There are a couple of such access lots nearby to the north and to the south of us. We pay a membership to help maintain the one to the south. It has picnic tables, a fire pit, etc. and a beach.
Q) What would be the closest boat launch?
A) That would be the Donnelly City Park which is one mile or three minutes.
Late in the season when the water is low we sometimes use Rainbow Point. It is on the other side of the lake and is 5.6 miles or twelve minutes. Rainbow Point is only two miles by boat, however.
We sometimes use, but only at extremely low water, Poison Creek which is 8.2 miles or 17 minutes. It is the campground closest to the Tamarack Resort on the other side of the lake and to the south of us.
Q) Is there enough room for parking a boat trailer, snowmobile trailer, motorcycle trailer, etc.?
A) Yes. There should be ample parking. We put in a circle drive in the fall of 2019!
Q) Are kids ok?
A) Absolutely. The cabin was made for kids of all ages.
Q) Can we invite our friends up?
A) You are welcome to have up to a total of 12 people on the property.
Q) What are the rules?
A) Just the usual rules. You and all guests must obey all laws. Smoking anywhere on the premises is prohibited. You are responsible for any damage that occurs during your stay. Be sensitive to the neighbors after the sun goes down. Suggested quiet hours are 10pm-7am. No on street parking.
Q) Where can you rent boats?
A) We highly recommend Mountain Meadow Adventure rentals. They are a 9 minute drive from the cabin (4 minutes on the lake) on the way to Tamarack. It is a family business and Ben and Rachel are super nice. If they are not busy they will bring the boat/jet ski right to the cabin's beach!
Q) Is there a barbecue grill available?
A) Yes. We have a large Blackstone griddle available for use on the deck.
Q) Are there enough pots and pans for a large family or do we have to bring our own?
A) The kitchen is fully equipped. If you have some specialty items or need to use an extra large pot, you may want to bring a few things of your own from home, but we have everything you normally need waiting for you in the cabin.
Q) Do you have life jackets we can use?
A) You will need to bring your own life jackets.
Q) Can we have an early check-in and/or a late check-out?
A) Let us know if you need or want to have extra time before or after the usual 11 a.m. check-out and 4 p.m. check-in time. When we can accommodate you, we will. It all depends on our housekeepers and how tightly our reservations are scheduled.
Guests have full access to the Main Cabin and the Shasta Suites.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at this property and it was as great as the first time. The cabin had everything we needed, and has beautiful views of the lake with amazing access to the water!
The house and all amenities were outstanding! Great view, perfect for us to walk out and ice fish with a campfire close by. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep, lounge, cook and relax. 100 out of 10 recommended
Kelly was a wonderful host! This is our fourth time staying at the Donnelly House and it’s still our favorite place to make memories with family. The house is always clean and comfortable with everything we need to cook large group meals. We’ll be back again I’m sure!
We’ve stayed here several times and this location doesn’t disappoint. The beach is amazing and the outdoor space is perfect for large groups of people. We loved it so much. We already booked for next year.
We enjoyed the spacious size of the interior and all the accommodations provided. The host communicated quickly after booking. The ambience and location was perfect.
This place is literally heaven on earth. My family absolutely loved every moment we had here. Cancel any plans you have and just stay here.

Thanks for the review Chris. We would enjoy having you back anytime!
We had such a fabulous family weekend at this cabin! the cabin was very clean, cozy and well taken care of. The kitchen had everything we needed (and tons of fridge space inside and out), which made cooking for everyone a breeze. The sleeping spaces and separate cabin worked out perfectly for all of our families. The kids loved hunting for cute little painted rocks around the property - such a fun and thoughtful touch. Outside we spent a ton of time grilling on the Blackstone, playing cornhole and warming up by the firepit on the beach (there was plenty of firewood provided) The big sandy beach was awesome-the kids played there all day, we all enjoyed fishing, soaking up the gorgeous views, and even some bird watching. It was so peaceful and quiet, and it felt like we had such an awesome space all to ourselves. We mad the best memories here and can't wait to go back! Host is excellent!

Gorgeous view
This cabin was perfect. The view was amazing , the beach was perfect for our kids and the cabin is spacious! We had a wonderful stay while at the cabin and roasting marshmallows at night! Thanks David for being so available to reach in times when we had a question. That aspect was nice and comforting. Only thing I would suggest is bring your own pillows if you are a picky pillow person as there's were slightly really flat. Also, we brought a couple extra pots and pans as there were very many to use. Other than those two things - we will totally rent again! We made the best memories while we were there.

Thanks for the review Lisa. We would enjoy having you back anytime. I took your advise and replaced the pillows. We now have 15 fat pillows. You were right. There were several flat ones in the prior collection. So henceforth only folks who like flat pillows need to bring their own. We now have the fat pillow people covered!
Our annual family vacation was a huge success! There were 10 of us. The home is large enough to accomodate a large group. We had plenty of seating inside and out. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep! The owners were great answering questions and provide lots of extras like towels for the beach, fans to help keep it cool, a laundry and so much more. It is an older home but it is well maintained and clean. The beach was excellent. It was easily accessible for our 70+ years, and had lots of shade for those of us that tend to burn in the summer. There was seating and a fire pit for the kiddos to make smores. We took a boat, jet ski and paddle boards. We tied the boat to a bouy and beached the jet ski and anchored it overnight. We stored the paddle boards and other toys on the beach and felt safe in doing so. Wish we had found this place years ago.....We cant wait for next year!
This home will not disappoint. We have an annual girls weekend (20 years+). This is our favorite hands down! Everything you need, or could want is there. We had plans to eat out one night but just couldn’t do it. We were in PARADISE!!! No need to leave! We will definitely be back.
This home was like living in a dream. It is situated on a quiet part of the lake and offered a lot of privacy.
Kelly, the host, was extremely organized and had everything labeled in the house. She was quick to respond to any questions, which was nice too.
The house was clean, and we felt right at home. It was like coming home to your parent’s house that has everything you could possibly need, but you still need to do all of your own laundry and cooking. We stayed there for 9 nights and cooked every meal at home. There wasn’t one time when we needed something that wasn’t there.
The views were wonderful, and we enjoyed cruising around on the lake. The outside covered porch was fun to sit in, especially since we had a couple days of rain.
We are already making plans to come back next summer.
This property is perfect! Comfortable, cozy, and gorgeous! Kelly is a perfect host. She is friendly and communicative and makes sure her property is perfect. This is our second year staying here and my family is already making requests for next year!
Absolutely amazing experience! Tons of space for our group in a breathtaking setting. This trip for us was made exponentially better through our stay at this lakeside oasis. Kelly Lee went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy. 150% recommend this spot to anyone looking for a vacation at Lake Cascade!
We had the best time at this adorable cabin!! It was very clean and had more then enough room for our party of 11. Everything we needed plus more was provided and the owner, Kelly was extremely nice and responsive. We will definitely be back and cannot wait!
This was our second year in a row staying at this beautiful house right on the lake. We enjoyed it so much we will probably try and make this a tradition. The property manager is so easy to communicate with. We really enjoyed every bit of our stay here.
Kelly is an awesome host and the house is amazing. Lots of outdoor space and perfect beach access.

About the host
Hosted by Kelly Lee
I am a wife and mother who loves to spend time with family and friends. We moved to Idaho in 2012 and after our first visit to Donnelly knew we wanted to spend endless hours on the lake.
Why they chose this property
This is such a special property! The land was purchased in 1959 by the Kerrick family, who 10 years later built the main cabin, and Shasta Suites followed in 2000. They built 60 years of memories here with family and friends and you can feel the love in every inch of it! From the moment we got there we did not want to leave. When the opportunity came up to purchase this property we were overjoyed and hope to build a lifetime of memories here! Hope you will join us in building wonderful memories here of your own.
What makes this property unique
This is truly one of the best spots on the lake! Easily accessible to town, gorgeous views and an amazing sandy beach. Peace, tranquility, fun, joy and relaxation all in one spot!
