This property is an old motel that needs some remodeling. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The management needs to provide upgraded pillows, a coffee maker and better directions on how to check in.
They have excellent customer service and the host is a very kind and considerate person! We couldn’t believe the price for the area! Hands down, no one even comes close to the price! If you want a great bargain and don’t need expensive frills then I highly recommend this. It’s close to beautiful hiking trails, antique shops, outdoors sporting, parks, and some towns that aren’t too far (without paying the tourist trap prices). The tv service and WiFi were a plus. Highly recommend the host as well!
We did not stay because it was not what we expected. The room smelt like mud and the room was not clean. We did not spend the night there. The Hotel manager made sure to talk to the booking company and notify them we didn’t stay there.

Mountaineer Motel, Mt. Storm, WV
Substandard accomodations which violated several promised and customary parameters:
--Run down, unmaintained room. Filthy carpet, chipping paint, broken panels and tiles. Sloppy bedding without a top sheet on one of the beds. A single dim overheat light with no lamps. No closet or place to hang clothes. No shampoo included.
--Poor security. Deadbolt was nonfunctional, leaving only the doorknob lock as a barrier.
--TV did not work.
--Room temperature cold, 60F at best. No way to adjust heat. Small space heater was extremely noisy and minimally useful.
--Insufficient hot water. The water ran ice cold before I even started to shower.
--Inconvenient check in. No one present in front office at 6:30 PM. Had to use outdoor telephone to call management to arrange entry. The room was left completely unlocked prior to my arrival.
--False advertising about location. The Whitegrass web page indicated that the Mountaineer Motel is within 5 miles of the Whitegrass ski center, when in fact is is some 30 miles away.
This accomodation was so poor and in such flagrant violation of what was advertised that common standards of business integrity should lead to a total refund.
