Imagine being only 56 miles from Palm Beach, Florida, on a one-of-a-kind, serene, Bahamian Resort. Known for its spectacular oceanfront setting and luxurious accommodations, Old Bahama Bay was awarded the Four-Diamond Award by the American Automobile Association (AAA).
The suite is an over-sized, junior suite (550 square feet+120 sq. ft. oceanfront balcony) with custom-designed furnishings, beachfront terrace, and fabulous ocean views. Availability is typically not a problem for at least 1 of our 3 suites. For that reason we do not display bookings on our rental calendar. Options for adjoining/connecting suite rentals can be discussed with owner.
The Resort has been selling out completely, well in advance, for summer weekends and Holidays. Some holiday weekends may be blocked on the rental calendar.
Return from a day on the beach to fresh seafood, served Bahamian-style, in the marina restaurant or the beachside tiki hut restaurant/bar just steps from the ocean.
Old Bahama Bay is located on the very western tip of Grand Bahama Island and boasts miles of pristine beach and world-class snorkeling. Its 72 slip, state of the art, full-service marina offers night navigation with dockage for vessels up to 120 feet. Our luxury beach cottage suite is located in one of twelve Bahamian-style buildings, each with six suites facing the Atlantic Ocean and about 40 ft. from the beach.
Conde Nast Traveler listed this world-class beach resort as one of the World's Best Places to Stay. A Conde Nast Traveller UK review stated: 'For an unpretentious holiday in luxurious surroundings, head to...the unspoilt western tip of Grand Bahama Island. Your suite will be located just steps from the beach.'
The following Miami Herald article highlights Old Bahama Bay's appeal:
By Cheryl Blackerby Special to the Miami Herald
I’m sitting in the shade of a coconut palm on Old Bahama Bay’s white sand beach. I have a lot on my mind. Like when will the tide force me to move my chair? And when will hunger finally compel me to walk 100 feet to get that hamburger in paradise?
All in good time.
A yacht cruises into view. I can see the bow and then slowly the rest of the behemoth as it turns. I wonder who’s on this big girl. The hamburger can wait.
Tiger Woods has dropped by Old Bahama Bay resort several times on his 155-foot yacht Privacy, so maybe it’s him. Katerina Graham of The Vampire Diaries stayed here recently. And Kesha filmed her TV show here in July.
. . Could be interesting.
Only about 80 nautical miles across the Gulf Stream from Miami and 55 from Palm Beach, this elegant compound including an inn and villas is strung along a beach on the western tip of Grand Bahama Island near the fishing village of West End.
Most people arrive by boat — yachts, fishing boats and sailboats. The 72-slip marina is a port of entry and many boaters pass through, some just stopping for a dinner of cracked conch or lobster at Old Bahama Bay Dockside Bar & Grill. Or a cheeseburger and conch fritters at the beachside Teaser’s Tiki Bar.
The inn’s 67 luxury junior suites and six spacious two-bedroom suits are in two-story Bahamian-style buildings with terraces and balconies overlooking a gorgeous white-sand beach. My room is sophisticated Caribbean-style with dark wood furnishings, wicker on the terrace, and plantation shutters thrown open to ocean breezes.
The inn has a new dive shop, but bonefishing and offshore fishing trips remain the top attractions. And there are enough beach toys to keep me busy for a week — sailfish, Hobie Cats, kayaks, bicycles, and snorkeling gear.

Very nice accommodations for short of longer term stay. Unit is well maintained , offers a nice view of the ocean and has access to a large multi burner gas grill and picnic table on lower level facing beach. Small refrigerator can accommodate drinks and some frozen items for a longer stay. Coffee pot , dishes, knives , small toaster in unit also. In room safe to protect valuables if desired. Bed is very comfortable. TV in room with multi channels including access to US news programs including some cable channels. Owner very quick in responding and informative if you have questions. Have been to OBB several times, but not last in last 2 years. Nice to see the property is being improved from an already nice condition. More activities offered, and as always great sunsets, and a relaxing stop on your way by boat to other locations, or to enjoy fishing right out front.
Excellent Family Vaca
Shot over on the boat with the family for a couple days of fishing and snorkeling and had a blast. The rooms (two joining) were great and the resort had everything you need to relax and have fun. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The owner was easy to work with and responds quickly. We will be going back soon.
Wonderful Bahamian Resort
We have traveled to Bimini and the Bahamas for numerous years and the BEST place to visit these days is
Old Bahama Bay. The rooms and suites have wonderful views and very convenient to the restaurant and marina.
I remember this resort in its infancy and it has truly grown into a FABULOUS place to consider for a relaxing and memorable vacation!! For us its an annual event!!
Great Relaxing Time
This is really quite an excellent place. Very quiet and remote but with all the conveniences you could need. The staff at OBB were very attentive and made the visit so easy. The dining
choices are good and I hear are getting better. I can't wait to return and have such a wonderful experience again.
Wow. I hardly know where to even begin with this review! We loved everything about our stay at Old Bahama Bay! Our unit was perfect for our needs, super clean with perfect access to the water. We counted 47 steps from our porch to the beach! We enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking, swimming in the pool, riding bikes around the property, playing shuffleboard, relaxing in the hammock or lawn chair on the beach. Harold at the activity hut is probably the most delightful person I have ever met. So warm, enthusiastic, helpful, and simply charming in every way! We also were able to meet owners Steve and Ellen, and they too are wonderful folks. Steve and I exchanged multiple emails from the time we decided to stay here until the time we arrived, and he answered my endless questions with great patience and a sweet attitude. (Usually within minutes!).
The food at the Teasers, the Tiki Bar was very good, especially the coconut french toast, though they close early during the week. The food at the marina was quite disappointing, and the service extremely slow, so bypass that choice for an early dinner at Teasers, or grill something yourself on one of the multiple grills on the property.
I highly recommend renting a car so that you can see a bit of the rest of the Island. DO NOT MISS the Gold Rock beach, part of the Lucayan National Park. It is simply breathtaking, though does require a bit of a walk to get to.
While this vacation was our first trip to the Bahamas, it certainly will not be our last!
We spent a week here in March and had a wonderful time! The accommodations were perfect for our family of 4, plenty of space and comfort. Enough dishes to have what we needed and a gas grill right below the balcony to use for grilling. The view from the balcony was spectacular! Just steps from both the beach and the pool. The resort has paddleboards, kayaks, snorkel gear, pool toys, bikes, shuffleboard, giant chess board/pieces and more, all available for guests to use! Great snorkeling right at the resort. Harold and his staff are a lot of fun and make great recommendations for things to do and see. We booked a boat trip from the resort and were able to spear lobsters, catch fish and snorkel at a shipwreck. We rented a car so we could explore but you wouldn't need one, the resort will take you places and does offer airport shuttle service (for a fee). The tiki bar on the beach has excellent food and drinks. The marina restaurant was a little inconsistent but had great outdoor seating where you could watch the activities in the marina. The owner, Steve, was very quick to respond to inquiries and offered great suggestions for our stay. We hope to go back again!
