Spa inspired Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We just got home from a very relaxing and comfortable stay during the Thanksgiving weekend at this adorable cottage. The owners have a talent for making sure that every detail of a vacation stay is taken care of. The attention to detail was amazing from the bottle of wine and fruit left for us to enjoy to the sutle hints of the season sprinkled throughout the outside decorations. The cottage is close to the ocean and many nice eating establishments. We want to thank the owners for making our stay an enjoyable one. We would definitely come back again.

Perfect spot for us

  • 5 of 5

We had to change our vacation location at the last minute due to the devastating fires in Big Sur (bless all the hardworking fire crews!!!). This was a great Plan B! We've always enjoyed this neck of the woods/ocean, but this was the first time we got to enjoy it with our 9 month old grandchild. She (and we) loved the strolls to the cafes, the beach, the art museum, the tidepools and through the quiet neighborhood streets. The patio allowed us to easily enjoy the weather and quiet beauty of this spot. Walking out the door into the most gorgeous bougainvillea we've ever seen kind of takes your breath away. Accurate description, friendly and helpful owners, very comfortable for all. Hope to return one day.

Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our needs. We didn't need a full kitchen, so it was nice that we didn't have to pay for a cabin that had a full kitchen (would've been much more expensive). The property was very nice and clean. It was close enough to some breakfast places that we were able to walk. I would stay here again!

Cozy cottage in Pacific Grove

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable place to use as a base to explore Carmel / Monteray area.

Enough space for 4 adults or a family with children. Plenty of parking.

Not right on the beach but close enough to walk or bike to the ocean.

Short drive to the aquarium.

The cottage is clean, with sufficient towels and supplies ( disposable dishes, paper towels, etc.). Owners are very responsive so - call back within a couple of hours to answer questions.

Adorable cottage, great location, great communication - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the cottage with 3 friends for a reunion weekend. The location is fantastic - we walked to the beach and downtown Pacific Grove (really cute shops and restaurants). Grocery stores conveniently nearby as well. We spent a lot of time just relaxing at the house because it was so cute! There was fruit and wine for us when we arrived, and even though it is not a full kitchen, there are plenty of supplies and we were able to make meals there. The owners responded very quickly to every message, and really went above and beyond with the details like an incredibly sweet thank you note after our stay. Couldn't be happier - I would definitely recommend!

The cottage is cute and space is a adequent, however make sure you check the furnitures when arriving. Owner claims to have antique furniture in a rental which hard to believe when everything is very worn out. We spent two nights there and very little time in the cottage but owner says my senior parents damaged their night stand. There is no protection to renter when owner claim something damaged and I can not dispute it. It just get automatically deducted from deposit and I can't do anything about it. I have rented many properties and have never had bad review and this is very upsetting to spent some time with my parents and turn out to have accused that we have damage something we did not.

In addition, home is in their backyard with a small pond which is cute, but it is noisy at night in one of the bedroom because you can hear the pond water running all night long. The ceiling has leak stains that are visible. There were few spiders here and there in the living room area as I think the closer of the front door not throughly seal or the window does not have window net.

There is no kitchen, just a microwave and a small fridge.

Cottage is very close to Lover's Point but not close enough to walk. It is about 5 mins walk from local downtown which is great to dine.

Would not stay here again!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are sorry you were not completely satisfied with your stay. In reference to the damage, we do a double, separate inspection by 2 people prior to each guest's stay. The first is the cleaning staff and the second is by me, the owner. We do not charge guests for normal wear and tear and understand that occurs over time. We only charge for fresh damage such as the scratches down to the bare wood that occurred during your stay. We do not make it a habit of charging guests. Only as needed which has just been a couple of times in our almost 10 years of renting our cottage. We try to make our cottage family friendly with comfy furniture in a relaxed setting but we do have a few antiques in the master bedroom to add to the Victorian feel and age of the property. We also understand that accidents occur. We just expect the guest pay for damage as per our vacation rental agreement that you signed. As you can read from most of the guests’ comments, they believe the cottage is an ideal location. Most guests can easily walk the pleasant 10 min walk to Lovers Point. The ½ mile walk may not be as easy with elderly folks which is understandable. We provide our address and a map prior to your stay so there are no surprises. Also we do mention in our ad and in our rental agreement that the cottage is the guest house to the owner's house and is located on the same property. Most people enjoy the sound of the pond but if you do not, you could have mentioned it to us and we would have gladly unplugged it for you. That is one of the many advantages of being on the property - to help our guests if needed while giving them the privacy of our entire back yard and garden. We also state clearly in the VRBO ad, pictures and rental agreement that the cottage does not have a full kitchen but states exactly what it does contain. We do not want any surprises or disappointment for our guests. It seems to work for our guests who enjoy walking to the local dining establishments just a 5 min walk to downtown through the quaint neighborhood. Again, thank you for your review.
