Love to vacation in the heart of a place? Then you've found "home" (at least for a little while) at Carmel by the Sea, a lovingly updated, 3-bedroom, 2-bath vacation rental in the center of Manzanita’s quaint downtown, just steps from Laneda Avenue and the wide sandy Manzanita beach.

Search for one-of-a-kind pieces in Laneda Avenue's distinctive boutiques and for artistic inspiration in its vibrant art galleries. Then sit down to a feast at a sublime farm-to-table restaurant or find bliss at a day spa. All of this Manzanita charm is just a short stroll away!

Carmel by the Sea comprises the entire top floor of a two-story building. And this loft-style space definitely makes the most of its elevated perspective: a generously sized balcony features a lovely view of Laneda Ave. and the ocean.

Back inside, a luminous living area features contemporary coastal decor and nap-worthy furniture. With its open floor plan, Carmel by the Sea makes it a breeze for your group to spend time together, cooking, snacking, watching the game on a WIFI-equipped flat-screen, or settling in for a wonderful meal and even better company at a dining table with a gorgeous view of Neahkahnie Mountain.

A fully equipped kitchen offers the inspiration to try a new recipe, plus all the cooking utensils and dishes you need to create culinary magic. Or go for a vacation classic: burgers from the BBQ grill on the private second balcony, which is accessed from the living area.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

The home has three bedrooms—including two master bedrooms!—and comfortably sleeps six guests.

The master suite features a king-size bed wrapped in fine linens, an en-suite bathroom, and double closets. Find another king-size bed in the second master bedroom, this one with a cloud-like pillow-top mattress. This bedroom is a guest favorite with its flat-screen TV and small writing desk (free WIFI lets you use the space to catch up on emails, too).

Both king bedrooms access that spectacular, ocean-view balcony through sliding glass doors.

A third bedroom is situated at the other end of the suite, and features a queen bed. A second full bath serves these two bedrooms as well as the main living area.

After an unforgettable day of exploring Manzanita and the Oregon coast, we recommend pouring a glass of wine and heading to the balcony to catch a watercolor sunset on the ocean.

Tremendous location, apartment/home, and host. We were on an extended stay and the house had everything we needed and more. Loved the long beach walks with easy access, local restaurants and people watching on the deck. On our list to come back to.

Without a doubt, this is the best vacation rental we have ever used. (And that’s saying something as we are frequent travelers). The home is extremely well equipped with everything you might need, especially in the kitchen. The owners obviously cook, because the pots and pans are high quality, the knives are sharp, the pantry is well stocked and there are plenty of towels. The lighting was great, and it was fun to look out over the town with balconies and large windows throughout. The condo was spotless, towels and linens bright white (and 100% cotton!!!) The furniture was comfortable, and so are the beds. My one complaint would be to add cushions to the dining room chairs, they were kind of hard. Otherwise, the decor is beautifully done, but not so prevalent that it gets in the way of activities. We enjoyed flipping through all of the coffee table books. We loved being so close to the beach, but also right in town. Need milk? It’s less than a block away! The Mexican restaurant next door was great, and so was the bakery. Sadly the pizza place was closed during our stay, but we will definitely be back. Selfishly, we don’t want anyone else to know about this gem, so that’s it’s always available for our use, but that would be unkind to other travelers! If you’re heading to Manzanita, this is the place you’ll want to stay.

Perfect spot in Manzanita

This is an exceptionally beautifully designed space with all kinds of thoughtful touches from hot chocolate and loose leaf teas with adorable teapots to wonderful towels and throws -- and all in a great location walkable to everything in Manzanita including the ocean. The guest guide provided, great wifi, easy access, and garage space were all appreciated too. We will be back!

The layout was perfect, property was very clean and well-maintained. It is located in the cozy town of Manzanita, right down town and only a block from the beach. We loved eating dinner on the balcony that overlooks downtown and the beach sunset. It was an easy drive to Nehalem Bay Park where we kayaked and crabbed. A little further down in Garibaldi we were able to take a boat out for fishing and limited out! We highly recommend the property and the company, Starfish Vacation Rentals. They offer great properties, well maintained and are very quick to respond to questions. 5-star rating!

My husband and I and our three adventurous children set up roots at the Oregon Coast when we purchased a home in Arch Cape in 2003. Over time this one home morphed into a passion for welcoming families and groups to the area and the creation of a local luxury vacation rental company. We sold that company in December 2021, and now have more time to enjoy hiking, paddle boarding, biking, and long beach walks, not to mention travel to other destinations worldwide.

Why they chose this property

Being right in the center of town makes it easy to enjoy everything this area offers. It’s easy to walk to restaurants, shops and cafes, and the beach is just 2 blocks away. Plus surfing and hiking are close by too. The balcony is a great place to people-watch during the day or catch the sun set in the evening.
