My family and I were so excited for our time away at the “Peaceful, Lake View Cabin.” We booked our stay from August 22-26. When we arrived, the owner was there and was not masked. We were expecting a “no in person” check-in due to COVID-19. After the owner left, we settled in and learned that the kitchen was not fully stocked as advertised. The cabin was at the entrance to a trailer park so it was not private at all. The beds were terribly uncomfortable, many of the electrical outlets did not work and the bathroom floor and tub were littered with bugs. We told the owner about the outlets but he was unable to fix them and we did not want an electrician intruding on our time. The owner never acknowledged our request for a solution to the incredibly uncomfortable beds. Amazingly, when we told the owner that we were leaving two days early, he was very indifferent to the idea that we may be leaving because we were unhappy. He wrote, “ Oh OK, I'm sorry you had to leave early. I hope you enjoyed your stay. If not i apologize. I ask people for a review if they had a good time and to accentuate the positives. But I know it doesn't always work out and in that situation I also ask that people not leave me a bad review. But thank you very much for staying and supporting a local small business. Best wishes.”It was his responsibility to make sure our stay was everything we hoped for. It is our responsibility to you to make sure you don’t only hear about the positives.
