About Jim and Kenton Bansemer

I moved to Brookings Oregon in 96 from Eldorado Hills Ca. For a Life style change, I love the ocean the rivers and the redwoods.. not to mention the world class salmon and steel head fishing! The lodge is run and managed by my son Kenton. We both love what we do and feel fortunate to work in such a beautiful area!

Jim and Kenton Bansemer purchased this lodge in 2004

Why Jim and Kenton Bansemer chose North Coast

This is a rare property that is riverfront and has south exposure. With only being a block away from the ocean it has amazing bird watching, fishing, whale watching and is only minutes from the tallest redwood trees in the world, and who doesn't love hiking in 300 ft tall redwood trees?!

What makes this lodge unique

We have Kayaks, a horseshoe pit, row boats for your enjoyment and fishing rods for the kids..its all about the kids!

Amazing location, fantastic hospitality, delicious salmon!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had the most amazing time here. The location was picturesque with lots of activities and the home was beautiful and extremely roomy, really great for large family gatherings. One of the highlights our trip was fishing with Kenton, while there was only 1 person in my family that had any real fishing experience. Kenton was extremely patient and flexible. He was especially tentative to my 7 year old daughter who fell in love with fishing. I cannot understate the hospitality and generosity Kenton showed my family not only during our fishing trip but for our entire stay.

You can be sure we will be returning here!

Great New Years trip

  • 5 of 5

My family loved this lodge as we spent a quiet, relaxing 4 days touring the redwoods and surrounding area. The front yard was huge, all our own (in the winter), all grass and was perfect to let our dogs run and enjoy a beer watching the sunset. Thanks to Jim and the couple gentlemen who help with the place as they were wonderful with the local knowledge and were super nice guys.

The house was huge, with a great kitchen and entertainment area. Beds were very comfy and everything was clean. We borrowed a kayak to take a paddle up the Klamath river. Overall, a wonderful stay!

Salmon, smoked salmon, and some salmon fishing!

  • 5 of 5

What an unbelievable weekend!

Not only was the salmon fishing off the rocky beach absolutely phenomenal, (we caught 4 fish total in 5 hours, one 18 pound King Salmon at that), Jim the owner and his son smoked our whole catch of the day for us free of charge, that way we could take home the fish and enjoy it for months to come!

It was such a wonderful weekend we had at the house, with beautiful sunsets, fires made in the fireplace with some s'mores, experienced fishermen to chat with outside at the campsite and make friends with!

My husband and our two dogs stayed here for two nights as a first wedding celebration and had a great time at the house! Romantic but not too secluded, the house seems like it has been remodeled/updated recently, with a huge fridge and cook's stove, and all the amenities you need (board games, cooking spices, fireplace and wood, kayaks, etc)! The views from the house and pation area, and the atmosphere in general, are top notch - especially after a full day of fishing at the mouth of the lake, just a relaxing place to be at by the end of the day!

Would recommend for large and small groups/families alike, fishermen and nature lovers would all enjoy!

Great Fishing and lodge

  • 5 of 5

We just stayed here a night, but we absolutely loved it! The lodge is amazing, the owners cooked fish for us, and really made us feel welcome. The rooms are great and comfy, the view outside is beautiful. My husband even got to go fishing and caught a beautiful Steele-head on the river with the owners. Thank you sooo much. We will 100% come back.

Wedding accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a wedding with a party of 10. Even though we had a lot of people coming and going throughout the 3 days we were there, Jim was very accommodating and open to all our needs. He took a small group on a fishing trip and they were successful and happy with the experience. We didn't get a chance, but there are 2 sea kayaks available for cruising around the estuary. It looks to be a great place for an outdoor adventure vacation. It has all a traveler needs to set up housekeeping, it is clean and comfortable. We undoubtedly will return to the area and, hopefully, this lodge. Highly recommended!
