About Trudy Kiggans

My family has grown up vacationing on the beautiful Gulf Coast. My husband and I had the opportunity to build our ideal beach house in 2005 for our large family and to share with friends. It is the nearest thing to heaven!

Trudy Kiggans purchased this house in 2005

Why Trudy Kiggans chose Gulf Shores

Heritage Shores is the perfect Southern neighborhood with large, gracious beach homes and a huge expanse of sugar white beach. The quietness and the the privacy are what drew us to this location. Our house has beautiful gulf and bay views, a short stroll to the beach, and overlooks the pool and tennis court.

What makes this house unique

Southern Shores is specifically designed and furnished for large families (or two or three families) to come together. Bedrooms are private, bathrooms are ensuite, living and dining areas are spacious and comfortable for big groups. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped for several cooks to work together while enjoying conversation at the island. Several large balconies encourage slipping away for long talks.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Scheidels and Roods returned for our third Spring Break visit to your fantastic beach home. We have had a wonderful stay. The beach was heavenly, the pools refreshing and your home is so comfortable. The kids loved playing tennis and basketball. Thanks again for a great week.

Great home for large family!

  • 5 of 5

We had plenty of room for our whole family. Without a doubt, we will rent this home again in the future. We had one small issue and as soon as we called the owner, she was quick to resolve it. The outdoor deck and stairs had obviously been updated and were very nice. We had great weather and our kids enjoyed the pool and basketball courts! Out of all the many homes we have rented in Heritage Shores, this was our favorite!

The house was above our expectations!! We could not have been more pleased

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival we were so excited to find that the property met and exceeded all of our expectations. Our family of 13 immediately felt right at home too! Having the 5 bedrooms each with its own bathroom made it absolutely perfect as we were all provided a bit of our own personal space. The openness of the main living area and kitchen made for great dinners and family time as well. The sunsets viewed from the upper back deck were breath taking. "Delightful Southern Shores" will forever be a part of our most cherished memories! Thank you!

Fantastic place for a vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family of 14 had plenty of room to spread out. LOVE the master suite! Its really nice having the pool and basket goal right across the street because we spent a lot of time at both. There are all kinds of beach chairs and floats in the downstairs closet. The outside shower was wonderful! No sand tracked into the unit. The best surprise was the kitchen! We have never stayed somewhere so fully stocked. I took my own pitchers, sharp knives, large bowls, cookie sheets because the places we have stayed in the past had bare minimum . But this kitchen has EVERY AND ANYTHING you need and want for cooking! Great place and owner is great to deal with as wellp

Oklahoma Family

  • 5 of 5

We are at Southern Shores right now. Family of 12. We are enjoying our stay so very much. Trudy has been amazing to work with. Some issues with the plumbing and she had a plumber here Sunday morning after calling her a few minutes before. Came in from the beach and upstairs A/C wasn't working, called and someone will be coming to fix it. I really feel bad about having to call here but she has been wonderful. Problems happen anywhere you stay, but not all people are so quick to fix them as she has been. Everything is perfect for our family. Plenty of dishes and pots and pans , glasses and utensils. Plenty of bedrooms and baths. We think it's great and will rent here again if we decide to come back. I would recommend this for any large family.

Fort Morgan

Southern Shores is located near the west end of the Fort Morgan Peninsula which is well known for its history, natural trails and marine treasures. The site of Fort Morgan is 3 miles west of Southern Shores. 175 years old, the fort was the focus of the Battle of Mobile Bay, August 5, 1864, and was also an active garrison during the Spanish American War and World Wars I and II. Next to the fort is Mobile Bay Ferry landing, boat ramp and pier. Launch your boat or fish off the pier. Leave your car at the landing and ride the ferry (walk-ons are $5.00 round trip with children under 12 free) over to Dauphin Island where Fort Gaines and the Dauphin Island Estuarium are within short walking distance. The Fort Morgan peninsula also hosts the National Bon Secour Wildlife refuge with 7,000 acres of protected woodlands, wetlands and beach. Walk trails to the beach or Mobile Bay and see Alabama’s coastal wildlife and beautiful wetland scenes. There are ten bird watching sites on the Peninsula.
