About this property
Casita La Capilla - A quiet garden home with sparkling pool
Just a small garage house/art studio in a big garden.
Made for the down to earth Baja traveler. Only a few hundred meters off MEX1 down a sandy road on the edge of a rustic village. Everything is only minutes away - fresh warm tortillas, downtown action, unpublished beaches. 7 minutes to the airport. El Centenario is the up and coming La Paz suburb - however, it is a poor neighborhood and the roads are still rough and dusty (muddy, should it rain). This is not for you if you prefer refined neighborhoods.
The large property is also home to 7 quiet dogs. They mind their own business and are not seen most of the time.

Peaceful oasis within easy drive to everything.
Comfortable casita with a tranquil garden and pool area. Dogs and host were kind and friendly. The “chapel wall” of studio needs a deeper cleaning. Everything else was great! Will likely stay here again in future.
Enjoying every moment and it's beauty. If you're a dog lover it will bring you much joy. We loved the pool and cooking outside. Definitely a great place to relax.
Cozy peaceful place in a restful beautiful setting. Great host. The dogs were fun, loved how they greeted us each time we returned. Location is great, close to La Paz but outside the city. Very secure, walled enclosure kept the rental car safe. The deli just up the road is a great place to eat and get coffee.
We absolutely enjoyed every moment of our brief stay at Casita La Capilla! The house is on a spacious piece of property with beautiful gardens and a very nice pool. As an added bonus, there are nine very sweet dogs to mingle with :)
Harold was extremely communicative from start to finish and provided helpful suggestions for day excursions.
The house is located about 25 minutes from the center of La Paz, so it is helpful to have a vehicle.
Overall, I highly recommend Casita La Capilla if you are searching for a quiet and serene place to rest and recuperate.
A very unconventional place, but that is what made it special. Harold was very easy going and has a little apt in this off the beaten path kind of place. All the green trees and plants really gave it that Paradice feel. 9 dogs on the property and we loved pulling in and having them all come out and greet us. Not pesky dogs, but gentle and quiet. They never woke us up in the morning.
The pool is tops, the best! Wife swimmers a lot and we even took some late night dips.
It is a bit difficult when it comes to where to eat out. Yes there is a outdoor kitchen for preparing food, but if you want to go out past 6:00, you have limited options. For us we simply planned ahead and got meals to go, then enjoyed a peaceful dinner at the house.
All in all a great place to stay, especially if you are looking for peace and quiet
Normally don’t write negative reviews, but I was so disappointed with this stay
My husband and I are frequently often outdoors- so we are no stranger to bugs and nature. However, our stay here was cut short due to the amount of big bites we received while at the stay during the nighttime.
Our backs, faces, and arms were COVERED in bites (unfortunately I can’t upload photos) despite waking to spray multiple times throughout the night. With this amount of bugs, I was surprised the owner did not have a net to place above the bed or some way or making sleep more manageable. There were TONS when we showered, which didn’t bother us too much- but the unprotected sleep made it truly awful.
We then noticed the bites were in lines and triangles all throughout our body- which is an obvious red flag for bed bugs. The owner said it was fine, but we were unable to check ourselves. We are taking precautions around our clothing and luggage, as so try to not bring them home.
Perhaps the most frustrating part is the owner’s poor communication. When we expressed our concerns and asked for a refund for the second night, he simply will not reply. We arrived in the evening and left first thing at 6am.He also lives on the property in between the pool and the outdoor kitchen space- so it’s far less private than the listing made it seem.
I highly suggest choosing a different place to stay. I normally don’t ever complain, but our stay here was truly awful. Things happen and we get that- but the lack of responses tells me the owner does not care.
We were looking for a unique place to stay that was off the beaten path, we were not disappointed. What Harold has built here is something you only see in pictures, we felt safe, and welcomed. He has everything you may need for your stay, all the little extras and personal items. His dogs and puppies are a bonus, we actually adopted one while we were there and named her Gringa!. We will forever cherish our time we spent at his beautiful oasis, and treasure the conversations we had with him. This is a very special place, I can’t recommend it enough. Thank you Harold, until next time!

I love the simple and quiet neighborhood of rustic El Centenario and the closeness to the city with shopping and restaurants
What makes this property unique
Casita la Capilla and its garden sit well protected on a one city block property. House and garden are very unique in design and setting. Highlight is a sparkling clean white pool.
