A perfect holiday home
We selected Maison Caignac, after much consideration over various properties, for a family holiday - three generations, eight adults and four children from four months to four years old - and it's plain that we made the correct choice. The house is enormous and although the pictures on the website make it look fantastic, in reality it is even better than it looks. Set on the top of a hill in a sleepyl village, it's wonderfully peaceful with great views over fields of corn and sunflowers. The pool was perfect and safe for all ages and that's where we spent much of our hot, sun-filled fortnight - though we managed to make use of the tennis court and games room as well. Eating outside under the vines every night was blissful and the children loved exploring the large garden. Inside the house, everything was catered for. It seemed that the owners had thought of everything we might possibly need for our stay, and Karen was quick and helpful in response to the minor queries we had. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and it's an easy trip to Carcassonne, the caves around Foix and Montsegur. I really can't fault our experience (unless Karen can find a way to stop mosquitos biting!)

Large and beautifully maintained property
This house has everything you would want in a holiday home - well equipped with lovely pool and tennis court (and boules, table tennis ...even outdoor chess) for the sunny days and a pool table and dart board and board games for times with poorer weather. The house is set up as the owners would want for themselves so it has a real sense of quality in terms of furnishing and equipment. The bedrooms are all large and extremely comfortable. We had a lovely time with our grown up family - who all seem very keen to return (certainly if Dad is paying!). Thoroughly recommended

Fantastic Property
This beautiful property is very spacious with plenty of room for large family or friends. The bedrooms are well decorated with large comfy beds, the kitchen is ideally situated in the centre of the house and is a great space for gathering in for meals if you decide not to sit out on the veranda, or cook yourselves lovely pizza in the pizza oven. The house has spectacular views of the local countryside, and some lovely walks along quiet country lanes. The house is not far from local towns and shops where you can get everything you need, the village however does have a little shop and pub to get essentials. We even borrowed the bikes and went cycling along the Canal du Midi. The main attractions for the children where the pool and tennis court, which they spent most the day going between, while the adults lounged by the pool side or played giant Jenga. The owners left a welcome manual for how everything works within the house and local restaurants that they like and recommend. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to go back very soon.

Extraordinary!
What can I say….. A short drive down from Toulouse Airport….take a turn off the motorway and wind through some spectacular countryside (at the right time of year it’s all yellow and decked out in Sunflowers) to find Caignac which is a small village perched on a hill. You can’t miss Maison Caignac (it’s the largest house there) and, cunningly, it does look understated from the street. This impression is completely erased when you get inside or view the house from the rear and the gardens…..it’s fabulous….almost like a hidden gem with views across the valley. I have stayed on a number of occasions now and really enjoy the sociability of the house – there are several, well-appointed dining and cooking spaces. The bedrooms are very well presented (with bedside lights made from the largest champagne bottles the owners could find - clearly they are very thirsty people!) and comfortable beds with crisp, white linen. There is plenty to do….or nothing to do….large swimming pool….tennis……sky TV…..or lie in the gardens reading. I would recommend Maison Caignac…..it is great for a small or a large party of people, its well-appointed and I am hoping to visit again!

We live in Kent but we love the great weather and countryside of South West France so much that we bought Maison Caignac. We enjoy walking and the stunning countryside gives us spectacular views round every corner. The towns of Toulouse and Carcassonne provide the culture that we enjoy and could have been missing in some parts of rural France. Obviously the food and wine of the area were also a major attraction for us.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house after renting it and finding out that it was for sale. It has been on this website since 2003 and we have found customers that have returned for more than 10 years - we can understand why!

The house is spacious with different entertaining areas and sits in 2 acres of landscaped garden including a heated swimming pool and hard tennis court.

Although in the centre of the village, It is like an oasis, and has lovely views over the surrounding rolling countryside. We fell in love with it, even though it was January, as it is the perfect holiday home for our extended family.

What makes this property unique

As the house was converted from three properties in 2002, it has retained three distinct parts and therefore is perfect for a multi generational group. It is great for those that want to party late while allowing others to retire in peace.

The combination of the house, the terrace, the outside eating area and the pool vicinity make a very sociable area with enough other space to allow party members peace and quiet.

The Canal du Midi is 7 km away and provides a unique resource, not only for boating but also horse riding, cycling and walking along the tow path towards either Toulouse or Carcassone.
