About this property

The Cardinal log cabin. Wrap around deck, firepit. Next to Pipestem resort park.

Modern, light, 4 bedroom and 2 1/2 bath log cabin on 3 levels. Enter via a walk-way from parking area (space for 3 or more cars) into the dinning/kitchen area. Sliding glass doors lead out to wrap around deck, with tranquil views over woods. Upstairs are three bedrooms with queen sized master bedroom and en suite. The three remaining twin bedrooms share a second upstairs bathroom. Downstairs is a basement bedroom with two twin beds. Outside at the back of the house is a picnic area, BBQ and fire pit, secluded at the edge of the forest. Cabin includes gas wood burning stove, wifi, cable tv, dvd player and washer and dryer units.

The cabin is located just outside the 4,000 acre Pipestem State Park and a five minute drive to the zip line tour (9 zips), water park, 18 hole championship golf course, 9 hole golf course, tennis, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, mountain biking, hiking (13 trails) white water rafting, fishing, horseback riding, and rock climbing. Pipestem lodge with three restaurants is only a five minute drive.

In winter, enjoy cross country skiing and sledding in the park and Winterplace Ski Resort is only 30 miles away.

Fantastic stay

We had a fantastic stay, so close to Pipestem! The cabin was very clean and had plenty of toiletries and we were so happy that we were well taken care of! We are excited to come back for a visit!

Work Reunion

Beautiful, well kept cabin. Quiet and peaceful. Kitchen had many cooking utensils and supplies. Informational book about the cabin and surrounding area very helpful. Great location for local activities.

We’ve been renting these cabins for the past few years and they never disappoint! Everything is always clean and tidy. The beds are decent for a rental and there’s always enough linens & towels. We’ll continue to stay here on our yearly trips!

Property was beautiful with more than enough sleeping quarters for our group. Gas company had turned off the gas prior to our arrival to do some repairs so the hot water heater pilot light was out. We called management and they responded quickly! They were very helpful and made some wonderful suggestions for us to check out while on our stay. Even though the property description was accurate on distance to Winterplace VRBO had it listed a lot closer. Overall stay was wonderful would love to stay again!

Cabin needs cleaning

The cabin was nice and comfortable but it wasn't very clean. The cabin needs to be cleaned properly, there was food inbetween one of the downstairs mattresses and the wall. There was also a lot of dusty inside, especially under the beds and other furniture.

Enjoyable family vacation

We spend 5 nights at the Cardinal at the end of May. It was more than enough room for our family of 4. We found the kitchen well stocked for cooking and eating at home. We used the charcoal grill and the fire pit for s’mores. It was easy to gather some sticks to make a fire from the wooded area behind the house. The place was clean and updated. If I was going to make a suggestion it would be to have some extra blankets on hand for the beds, the first couple nights were quite cool and I could have used another layer on my bed. The Cardinal is located just minutes from the main gate of Pipestem State Park where we spent most of our days hiking, swimming at the lake, riding the aerial tram, and playing at the adventure zone - we got the all inclusive day pass and it was well worth the money and a lot of fun! Overall I would absolutely recommend the Cardinal for families, couples, and friends looking for some time away.

Absolutely atrocious directions. "Go a few miles".... how about thee owners or property maintenance folks actually go out and measure true distances?!?! Poorly maintained. Two key boxes, none of which made any sense, only to be told when we called to ask for help- oh, we know, the bottom box should have been removed a long time ago. To start- why on Gods green earth should my son and husband spend 2 hours cleaning the walkway of ice/ frozen snow to make it safe for any of us to walk on?Lastly, and why we left a full day early- we found LIVE bugs in the beds. The master bed had "organic debris" from previous guests... on stained sheets to boot. Two missing smoke detectors in the upstairs bedrooms/ hallway area. When we gave up on using the master bed when we found all of the nastiness left over from another guest, only to sleep on beds that felt like they belonged in a prison instead. I attempted calling / texting all three numbers left as contact numbers, and got no response from any of them. I've got the screen shots/ photos/ videos on anll of these items as well. All in all- ranks pretty high on the "don't EVER stay again" list. Safe yourself the time- book the Pipestem Lodge instead. It's closer to the park entrance, clean, far more amenities, and a fraction of the price.

Just a couple of issues 1 the walkway was very icy & dangerous 2 there was hair on some of the pillows 3 distance to the ski slopes was 45 minutes but overall we had great time

Gem in the woods!

This place is amazing! Has all comfort of home in the middle of the woods. Our family had a blast in our stay. The house looks small from outside but when entering is another thing. Lots of room for the family. Definitely recommend this place.

Lovely location, buuuut

While the location was beautiful and the cabin layout acceptable, we were taken aback at how dirty it was. The kitchen floor was not swept, the counters had food caked on them, dishes in the cabinets had dried food on them, and multiple bathrooms had black-looking mold from water leaks. It was not a relaxing experience to start a vacation by deep cleaning. It is very unlikely we will return or recommend this particular cabin.

Christmas Vacation
