Marmot Mountain Guest House is perched on a hillside overlooking the Icicle Valley and boasts a breathtaking 180 degree view from the Enchantment Mountains to the distant Entiat Ridge. This cozy, comfortable retreat is the perfect getaway just 10 minutes from the Bavarian village of Leavenworth. Decorated in a colorful, mountain style, this home has a main bedroom and a bunkroom that sleeps 4 comfortably, though can accommodate 6 with a sleeper sofa. The deck is a perfect spot to grill dinner, sip a glass of wine, or watch the hawks ride the thermal breezes. A fully equipped kitchen and dining area makes dining in an affordable and relaxing choice. The bath has both a separate shower and a luxurious soaking tub.
Deer, raccoon, pine squirrels, quail, wild birds, and the odd bear meander over the hillside providing Mother Nature’s version of nonstop entertainment. In the winter, snow shoeing through the aspens, cross country skiing in the valley, sledding down a hill are all just minutes away. In the spring, summer, and fall, whether hiking the aspen-covered hillside, enjoying the wildflowers, bird watching, or curling up by the gas fire with a good book, this home has it all.
Just 2 hours from Seattle, life slows down and mellows out here in the country. Downhill skiing is just 40 minutes away at Steven Pass or 1 hour to Mission Ridge. Romantic sleigh rides are just 5 minutes from your door. In the summer, we are just 10 minutes from the Icicle River where you can enjoy rafting, kayaking, tubing, and swimming. A stroll along the canal below the property gives you a full appreciation of the wonderful vistas of the area. For the more adventurous, many more hikes are just 20 minutes up Icicle Canyon. Of course, Leavenworth’s Bavarian hospitality is not to be missed, with shops, wineries, restaurants, and many festivals. Whatever the season, the choices abound in this tranquil area.

Our stay at the Marmot Mountain Guest House was restful and enjoyable. The view is absolutely inspiring and we began the mornings with coffee on the deck, drinking it all in. We wanted for nothing, the house is well equipped with kitchen implements and plenty of towels. Close enough to Leavenworth that we could drive to town within 10 minutes, yet far enough away to smell the pine in the air and listen to birdsong. The walk along the irrigation canal just below the house is beautiful and not to be missed! The hot tub in the evening was welcome after a long day of walking in town or hiking the trails. Though the owner was not on the premises at this time, a minor concern was taken care of immediately via cellphone/email communication. Obviously, these owners are animal lovers and though we did not have a dog with us, we appreciated their welcome attitude toward animals. The home did not smell "doggy" at all if that would be a concern to future tenants. All in all, a very nice place to spend a weekend. We would recommend it.
We had a lovely time! The space is well laid out and well equipped. Friendly dogs for the girls to play with and a beautiful view.
Wonderful location to escape to. Wish we could have stayed a few more days. Long steep road, AWD or 4x4 a must. Beautiful views of the valley and night time lights of town. The driveway is a perfect length and angle for the kids to sled down. After a few trips of them hiking up the hill, they were worn out.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay. As our Christmas getaway trip, the snow covered mountains and tree tops viewed from our private deck were breathtaking. When the sun went down, the glistening lights of downtown Leavenworth including the brightly lit trees were reminiscent of a Christmas Card. The open concept floor plan made playing board games and sharing meals easy to facilitate and enjoyable. I could not have asked for a more perfect setting to have my boyfriend of three years pop the question. I would have given our trip the fifth star if it wasn't for the scuffle my very old, sweet, calm, Golden Retriever got into with the owner's Border Collie. I'm not sure if his name is Levon or Buster-- he's very sweet to the humans but very territorial of his home and especially tennis balls. My fault for having the two dogs play fetch together. The Border Collie won with both tennis balls, and my guy ended up with a bloody ear. However, he is well trained about staying in his yard and so the rest of the trip was a breeze with a quick walk up the driveway for potty runs and play time. We will definitely be back again. I loved that we were close enough to stores and town that running in for groceries or takeout pizza was easy but far enough from town to enjoy peace, quiet and silence. Not to mention the views and the starry skies at night.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay! From the views, to the hospitality, to the sledding hill we had a most enjoyable visit. The home was cozy and had everything we could ever need in a place to stay. Our hosts were knowledgeable and gracious in every way.
Perfect place to take in the beauty of Leavenworth and close enough to the festivities to partake, but return quickly for a night cap and a rousing game of "Watch Ya' Mouth!" :) Thank you Liz! It was a pleasure staying and meeting you both! Tell Buzbie and Levon "Hi!" from us! Merry Christmas!
The Andersen's (& one lovely Spaniard!)
Very cozy mountain retreat. Very happy with stay. Will stay again next time were in Leavenworth.
We've spent a lot of time in Leavenworth, but not in the mountains above the city! What a fresh perspective! The views are spectacular and change with the sun position - made the deck/balcony a favorite spot! The walk along the canal is not to be missed! We enjoyed having our dogs - seemed like home away from home. Pop in to Dan's Market - shop local - for a few provisions and snacks on the way to begin your stay (it was hard to leave once we settled in). Cashmere is only a few minutes east and a great spot along the Wenatchee River for dinner (Milepost 111) to skirt the Autumn Leaf festivities. We had a very nice time in the most lovely of seasons. Thank you!
