Luxury Cottage on ice-fishing Rice Lake and year round activities

Hi Scott, we enjoyed hosting you! Thank you for being so respectful of our Lakehouse. We hope you enjoyed some fishing and took the boats out. Rice Lake is a quiet lake best known for great fishing all year round. Ice fishing huts become the norm in the winter once the lake freezes. The weeds do tend to creep up and we have our maintenance crew clear them up regularly. Sorry you didn’t let us know, we would have had our guys out to clear them for you so you could enjoy the water more. Kind Regards

Hi Carrie, Thank you for staying at our cottage and for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the water toys: kayak, canoe, pedal boat and water pad, and you also appreciated how spacious the cottage is. Yes, Rice Lake is well known for being one of the best lakes for fishing. We even have fishing rods for your use and we noticed you left bait behind. We’re happy you enjoyed the fishing too. It also makes for a safe and quiet lake since there are few speed boats, respecting those that are fishing. Fishing is great all year round! There are fishing huts set up on the ice in the winter once the lake freezes and it is safe to do so. The lake is safe to walk on, skate, and often even drive on. In town there is even ice racing (dirt bikes with winter tires!). In the summer, depending on the current the weeds do get pulled in. We clear them up before arrivals and we encourage guests to let us know if the weeds creep up, so we can send out maintenance team to clear them so the water is cleared for your enjoyment. We are available year round and will be including an ice fishing hut this winter. We do have a maintenance person that rakes out the seaweed regularly. Rice Lake was once a wild rice bed in the early 1900s and because it is a shallow lake, usually after heavy rain, the seaweed does get pushed to the shoreline.

We are the only property in the area that has a maintenance person that goes in the water and rakes the weeds from our frontage of the lake. The weeds flow and drift in from north to south daily.
