Overview

About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

Welcome to the Covered Bridge Cottage, a charming getaway nestled in the woods on the bank of the Cocalico Creek. During its colorful past the cottage operated as a prohibition speakeasy and a fisherman's cottage. Today it’s a quaint abode perfect for a romantic getaway or quiet weekend with friends. Marrying the beauty of the past with a simple, modern style, this century-old home includes unique details like wood floors, peaked ceilings and exposed peg and beam construction. We invite you to cozy-up and make yourself comfortable by the gas fireplace in the living room. Or take in the view of the historic Wenger’s Mill Covered Bridge from the sunlit dining porch. Enjoy a relaxing dip in the secluded outdoor hot tub. Sit on the porch swing and listen to the songbirds while admiring the beauty of the surrounding Amish farmland. Or kick up your feet by the creekside fire pit.

Additionally, we encourage you to sample the variety of unforgettable experiences that Lancaster County has to offer. Whether you prefer exploring the rich history of the Amish or the fresh, contemporary vibes of Lancaster City, our area has something for everyone. From delicious eats to endless shopping venues, invigorating hiking trails to art museums, and buggy rides to amusement parks, the opportunities for a memorable trip are endless. We’re located 35 minutes from Hershey, a little over an hour from Philadephia, an hour and a half from Baltimore and Gettysburg, and just over 2 hours from New York City and Atlantic City. Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Overall nice, quiet and relaxing stay with my husband and two toddlers. The kids loved running around outside and watching horse and buggies going through the covered bridge

Perfect get away!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was exactly as described in the description. It was my first time using anything like HomeAway and I was very worried due to all the horror stories. However, this cottage was as beautiful as the pictures shows! I would highly recommend if you are looking to be alone together!

this was a perfect quiet retreat that we loved.

  • 4 of 5

Very homey and comfortable. Great scenery and loved being on the river and looking out over the covered bridge. Lots of space for our family to play cards and enjoy. It would have been perfect if there would have been a ground floor bathroom. Two of us were over 70 so steps getting into the house and then another flight up to use the bathroom was work and hard on our knees and hips.

Very relaxing! Lovely cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 5 nights and had a wonderful time. Comfortable, with all the comforts of home. Close to many things to do. Even a day trip to Philly. The porches fire pit and hot tub made just staying 'home' as good as anything

Magnificent place!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, because a stream ran by the back yard it was heaven for me to sit out back. And the cottage itself was perfect too. Three bedrooms, a perfect kitchen with all you need, and a long lovely sun room off the kitchen where we ate our meals. The gas fireplace made it cozy as we played games in the spacious living room. The Lancaster area was beautiful too. Tidy flowers around almost every home and fields of healthy crops. We got to go to a blue grass concert in the field around a vineyard and to tour the Amish museum.
