Quigley Cabin -Sleep to the sound of Brewster Creek right outside the window
Rock Creek Trout Bums Offering Premier Vacation Rental Cabins Since 1997 Rock Creek Montana
Within the span of less than one short year, thirty acres on Rock Creek turned into a bustling gold rush town and then fizzled into nothing. During 1896, Quigley was a thriving metropolis with a population of 2,000 one day, and a ghost town the next. This amazing property is the last remnant of the goldrush town of Quigley, 1896-1897, and Quigley Cabin is the only remaining original structure from the town of Quigley.
It started out life as a Chinese Laundry; in fact, the door where the miners would enter is still visible from the inside of one of the bedrooms. At some point a couple bunkhouses and a smoke house from another ranch were moved onto the property, making a quaint ‘ghost town’. One of the bunkhouses has been modernized and is also available for rent. Additionally, in 2019 the owners of the Quigley property, purchased the adjoining property to the South (which has the 3 bedroom Brewster Creek Cabin) and is easily accessed by a footbridge over Brewster Creek – making this a perfect location for larger groups needing multiple cabins in close proximity to one another.
This unique property is gorgeous. Trout Unlimited restored the lower portion of Brewster Creek through the Quigley property in 2018, making excellent cutthroat trout habitat. Additionally, there is a small pond that is fed by Brewster Creek which offers fun opportunities for kids to see if they can outsmart the resident trout.
Quigley Cabin was modernized in 2016; fortunately in doing so, they were still able to preserve the personality of the structure. It has a beautifully equipped kitchen with a cooktop range, large refrigerator, dishwasher and granite countertops. New circle sawn flooring throughout the cabin retains the ‘old’ feel, while leveling out the very crooked 100+ year old floors.
Sleep to the sound of Brewster Creek flowing right outside the master bedroom window; Quigley Cabin has 2 bedrooms, one bath, a game room, laundry center, and a spacious living room.

We loved this cabin. It was updated, clean, and had plenty of room for our party. Loved the information about the history of the area. We wished we had time to meet the owners, who were very helpful and accommodating.
A wonderful experience surrounded by mountains, trees and the white noise of a river. It was exactly the relaxation we all sought - amazing views!! The cabin also was extremely comfortable with a kitchen stocked with everything a savvy cook needs. It was very clean and really great for and with children. We for sure will be returning - for a longer stay next time
We had planned to camp on Rock Creek for some early spring fishing but when the weather forecast deteriorated to four days of snow, we booked Quigley Cabin at the last minute. We could not have been happier with our choice. The property manager, Deb, from Trout Bums just down the road, was very responsive. She sent comprehensive instructions ahead of time and directions to get there. She checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and to point out where the extra wood was for the stove. While the cabin was built in the late 1800's, it's been well-maintained and updated; awesome new floors, modern appliances, electric light and heat, internet, etc. And indoor plumbing! That said, it still maintains the rustic charm that you would expect from the last vestige of an iconic boom-bust gold mining town. The kitchen was outstanding! We've stayed in many short-term rentals and Quigley Cabin is among the best of them for a kitchen that is well-equipped for actual food preparation and cooking. Brewster Creek is a few steps from the front door and the world-class trout waters of Rock Creek are a short walk through the property's meadow. A large beaver pond is at the mouth of the creek. We saw deer and big horn ewes on the property every day. We'll look to Quigley Cabin (or another Trout Bums-managed property if Quigley is not available) the next time we need a rental in the Rock Creek area.
