About this property
Seabury Lookout – Classic Kiwi Bach with Views!
Welcome to Seabury Lookout – your cosy coastal getaway!
Once the original Postmaster’s house, our bach blends history with comfort. Perched high on the hill, you’ll love sipping your morning coffee (or evening wine) on either side of the bach; the estuary, and the mighty Tararua Ranges or the sunny deck while taking in views of farmland and the settlement.
Inside, it’s classic Kiwi holiday living. The main lounge has plenty of seating and a roaring fire for winter evenings, while the separate kids’ lounge with additional TV keeps little ones entertained. Bedrooms are simple, restful spaces and the bathroom is spacious with a bath/shower and separate loo. We’ve stocked up on puzzles, board games, and the latest NZ House & Garden mags for those slower holiday moments. Half the home now has double glazing, making it extra snug on cooler nights.
The deck is a favourite hangout — with built-in picnic seating, an umbrella for shade, and gates to keep kids safe. When the sun sets, the village lights sparkle and the night sky fills with stars.
Adventure is right on your doorstep!
5 minutes to Mr Grumpy’s for legendary fish & chips 🍟
A short stroll to the beach for swimming, fishing, or white baiting (in season). An even closer walk to the worldclass estuary a few minutes walk away.
Watch the kids at the amazing nearby playground (think skate ramps, flying fox, tennis courts, basketball hoops, and more) — some visible from the lounge and bedrooms!
Walk or cycle into historic Foxton to explore its working windmill, quirky museum, murals, a fantastic bookstore, a range of cute shops to explore and a choice of fabulous cafés.
Tee off at Foxton Golf Club, try wakeboarding, or head to local markets and events. There's something for everyone in the Horowhenua!
Whether you’re after a family-friendly base, a cosy couples’ escape, or a laid-back group getaway, Seabury Lookout has been delighting guests for many years. Your Kiwi holiday awaits! 🌊✨

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels) and leave as you found it.

About the host
Hosted by riledy733

One of us grew up nearby and we both have travelled to 60+ countries where we camped and stayed in basic accommodation. When the opportunity arose to buy this place we knew some hard work could see a casual relaxed and comfortable place be shared with others.
Why they chose this property
This is a unique slice of historic Foxton Beach being home of the former postmaster who had the best views to see the boats and mail come into the settlement. It's a warm house, insulated, easy living. It's very comfortable to relax in, and is so super close to the various attractions and Cafe/Fish and Chips some just 2 minutes away. Ideal for families with spacious deck, games and puzzles and House and Garden magazine/Next for relaxation.
What makes this property unique
Walking distance to cafes, dairy, great takeaways, world ranked estuary, Skate park and kids park 2 minutes and beach 15 minute walk. Relaxing space where you can sometimes hear the waves from the beach. One of few places with near 360 view of settlement from various rooms and decks. Cosy fire in winter.
