Beautiful house, amazing views, very private

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 4 days at this house in Ostional with our three children (ages 6, 9, and 11). The house was gorgeous. The views were outstanding. The pool was wonderful! The owner and property manager were responsive and helpful. It was just a great experience all around. The house is very private, you feel like you are the only people around. You can hear the waves crashing on the beach in the master bedroom. The beds were comfortable. There was hot water with good water pressure. The house was clean and comfortable. There was room for everyone. The pool was warm and big enough for the kids to play in, and half of the pool was only 3' which meant my 6 year old could stand and the other half was like 7' which meant my older kids could dive down and have fun. Monkeys were hanging out in the trees one day which was super cool. We saw coatis eating the scraps we threw into the jungle every night. Just a wonderful place to stay. Only word of caution would be if anyone in your group has mobility issues or you have a young crawling baby or new walker, there are a lot of steps to get up to the house and also there are steps throughout the house. Not a problem for us, but it could be difficult for certain groups of people.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

Prepare yourself for the travel involved in getting to this beautiful home. You will drive about 2 hours down very bumpy curvy dirt roads and cross a river in order to get here. Once you arrive you will climb a bunch of very steep stairs before you enter the nice and clean home. The view is gorgeous! However, there is no place to sit outside to enjoy the view. The small pool was clean and refreshing. We did not see any wildlife around the house but I’m sure they were there somewhere. We never could figure out the air conditioners as it seems they are on a timer and kept going off (but I’m sure that was user error). The property managers were polite and helpful and responded quickly to emails. WiFi worked good. Nearest beach was not within walking distance but clean and pretty. We did see a few turtles laying eggs on the beach which was an amazing experience! Restaurant down the road (las tortugas) has great pizza and nice owner but after getting home we realized that he charged us a very high exchange rate. Overall the house is very nice. Would have been even more fabulous if there was a place to sit outside and enjoy the view

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The beach is a 6 minute walk from the house. The roads are not paved and there are no sidewalks but it's an easy walk. My husband does this with flip flops and carry's his surf board for his early morning surf session and again in the late afternoon. I walk down to the beach every morning to get my feet wet and some exercise. If you are disabled or can't walk then the jungles of Costa Rica may not be for you. The only outdoor seating area is the hammock which has an amazing jungle view and the area around the pool. There is not a lot of yard around the top of the house and it can get pretty hot and buggy sitting around outside so the pool area is the best area to view the ocean/sunsets or the inside of the house where you can be screened in and still get the beautiful breezes. In our guests information sheet we do mention you can exchange your money for Colones at the bank and this way you don't have to worry about each business's conversion rate. It fluctuates daily so it's just easier to do this once you get there. Pura Vida

It was the best family vacation we have been on in a long time

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our family and we had a wonderful time. The pool was such a treat for morning and evening swims. Eli and Willie were amazing and we were so happy to have them to help us with booking adventures and any questions we had about the house. They shopped for us at our request it it was truly a home away from home. The kids had a blast!!!

Wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Ostional was wonderful! We loved the house for its fabulous view, peaceful setting and swimming pool. It was very clean and comfortable and well stocked with games, books and movies for relaxing at night! The pool was a particular hit for our family with evening dips and then sitting by the pool and enjoying the night sky. Many thanks to Elizabeth and Willy the caretakers for escorting us to the house and giving us great tips on where to go/what to do. Several highlights about the house are the amazing sunsets, the sound of crashing waves from your bedroom and the viewing of the howler monkeys!

Beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great time at Casa de La Ventanas! Air conditioning works great views are AMAZING and bird watching is good. We watched a turtle lay her eggs on the beach down the road from the house. I saw monkeys nearby the house. We did have a very difficult time getting our van up the hill to leave the house and we should have listened to the recommendations to get a 4x4. It should def be a requirement. The house is nicely decorated and clean. We didn't see many bugs in the home. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Amazing Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

This place was absolutely gorgeous. The property managers were extremely responsive and helpful from when we first booked the trip to checking out. We thoroughly enjoyed the fact that the house is away from the tourist beach, but only about a 15 minute drive to the main beaches of Nosara. We were able to meet a lot of locals while wondering around the beautiful black sand beach that surrounds the rental. We went with a group of nine, we only had two cars but we took advantage of the super cheap ATV rentals in Playa Guiones. I will definitely be staying here again in the future and recommend this rental to any one, from a group of friends to a families.

One thing you should know about the house is the hot water does not last, neither does the water pressure. The internet did go out for a few days, but we didn't mind. We also experienced one of the Costa Rican black outs - it only lasted for about 30 minutes and there were enough candles around the house for it not to be a problem at all.
