Beautiful landscape, great accomodations
A great place, definitely recommend it! The only thing people should be aware of is that the house is quite a distance from the barn. The house is not the one shown in the photograph with the two barns. The house in the photograph is the owner's residence. The rental house is far enough away on the property that we usually chose to drive between the house and the barn. It wasn't a problem for us though, and we still had a great time and would still recommend the place.
A beautiful and relaxing getaway spot
Our Family of 9 adults and one young Grandchild rented both houses for a weekend. What a great facility and treat. Tom greeted us and gave us a short tour which did not do the place full justice. You could feel the pride that he has in his properties. He left us a bottle of wine in each house. The houses are beautiful, very spacious and well appointed. I would love to own either one of them for my own residence. As it was June, we spent a lot of time at the pool which was very enjoyable. The Gardens and other outdoor spaces were beautiful. Tom did a fantastic job restoring and filling the Caboose with railroad memorabilia. The Basement Rec Room was also a lot of fun for us at the end of our first night. We enjoyed our stay very much and it went too fast. Please do note that the 3 Bedroom House is about 3/8ths of a mile from the Barn with the 2 bedrooms. Not an issue for us with our multiple cars. We hope to come back again. Thanks Tom & Carol !
VERY UNIQUE HISTORICAL VACATION
This is the way to visit Gettysburg. On arrival at the Newharts Farm you are greeted by Tom and Carol and your history experience begins. Recommend very highly.
We arrived with mixed expectations as the photos do not do this lovely place justice. As soon as Tom toured us through the property, our expectations were exceeded by miles! The grounds are spectacular and the amenities those of a 4 star b&b! The owners, Carol and Tom have thought of everything and respond immediately to any request. Our visit was way to short but we can understand why families return time after time to stay at this beautiful place. You made me look good too, for selecting your farm for our family weekend. And for that, I thank you!
A wonderful place for a family reunion!
My family (4 couples with 7 teen and 20-something kids) rented both of the houses on the property for a New Year's weekend reunion. We had a wonderful time. The Old Stone House has a dining room area that seats 25, and worked perfectly for our sit-down dinner. The Barn has a basement with a bar, pool table, and air hockey, and was a great site for our New Years Eve celebration. The kitchens in both houses are well-equipped, and the bedrooms and sitting areas are lovely. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. The owner was very accommodating and rightfully very proud of the property and of the area. We hope to return in the future.
Excellent Family Reunion Spot!!!!
My family (mom, dad, sisters, brother and spouses) rented both the house and barn. It was great! Big enough for us all to gather for dinner together, visit and talk. The owners, Tom and Carol, were great and provided a tour of the property which included a renovated caboose. You can tell they take a lot of pride in the property and providing great service to all of us while we were there. My daughter and I plan on going back later in the year.
