beautiful, peaceful stay
We loved our weekend stay in this cozy barn and stone house property, just a quick 15 minute drive from Gettysburg. Each space was lovingly and thoughtfully furnished with antiques and Civil War era artifacts, including wax figures, which made for a fun and memorable family experience. The property was quiet and peaceful. We especially enjoyed the early morning sun on the balcony, the kitchen which included plates and utensils for us to enjoy making and sharing a meal, and the fireplaces in the evenings. We would definitely come here again for another stay!
This was the best vacation we've had in a long time. The gardens, the accommodations, the house space is wonderful and plenty of room for a large party if you rent both spaces. This location is close to the center of Gettysburg, outlets, and other places. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
Full of Character
The Iron Horse Stone House was a perfect location to base while exploring Gettysburg. The house has a lot of history and a lot of charm.
We stayed two nights. The first night there were just four of us and there were 8 of us on the second night. Plenty of room. We made some steaks on the gas grill and celebrated my mother’s 75 Birthday on the last night there! In the morning we saw deer in the field.
We also enjoyed the lovely swimming pool which is just up the lane, by the Barn. Great outdoor recreation area!
I highly recommend this property!
Beautiful landscape, great accomodations
A great place, definitely recommend it! The only thing people should be aware of is that the house is quite a distance from the barn. The house is not the one shown in the photograph with the two barns. The house in the photograph is the owner's residence. The rental house is far enough away on the property that we usually chose to drive between the house and the barn. It wasn't a problem for us though, and we still had a great time and would still recommend the place.
A beautiful and relaxing getaway spot
Our Family of 9 adults and one young Grandchild rented both houses for a weekend. What a great facility and treat. Tom greeted us and gave us a short tour which did not do the place full justice. You could feel the pride that he has in his properties. He left us a bottle of wine in each house. The houses are beautiful, very spacious and well appointed. I would love to own either one of them for my own residence. As it was June, we spent a lot of time at the pool which was very enjoyable. The Gardens and other outdoor spaces were beautiful. Tom did a fantastic job restoring and filling the Caboose with railroad memorabilia. The Basement Rec Room was also a lot of fun for us at the end of our first night. We enjoyed our stay very much and it went too fast. Please do note that the 3 Bedroom House is about 3/8ths of a mile from the Barn with the 2 bedrooms. Not an issue for us with our multiple cars. We hope to come back again. Thanks Tom & Carol !
