About this property

Gilmore House

We are located off of historic Gilmore Trail appx. 10 miles north of Fairbanks. Our cute 3b.r.- 1 bath home can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people and is perfect for anyone who is interested in exploring the Last Frontier at your own pace. We have a large deck located on the 2nd floor and a large front porch, both overlooking the historic Gold filled hills north of town. Great for watching the Northern Lights or enjoying the Midnight Sun! The kitchen has pots & pans, dishes, silverware, baking pans, cake pans etc. and we always provide, with our compliments, a food *'Starter Kit' with things like Bacon & Eggs & OJ plus a variety of condiments, salad dressings, spices, and more, plus some snacks & bottled water. In the freezer there are always a couple of pizzas! *(Gluten /Dairy free options available upon request with advanced notice). So much easier than trying to find a Grocery store before you've even had a chance to get settled in! With a little notice, we can pick you up or drop you off at the Airport or Train Depot. We are Pet friendly & have water & food bowls & a blanket for your fur babies. We live next door, so no matter what time of year you come to Alaska, we are always available should you need anything & we will do our absolute best to make sure you and your family & friends have a great visit! No matter where you choose to stay, whether with us or elsewhere, we hope you have a wonderful time in Alaska!

Charming charming charming. The cottage is as cozy & comfy & cute in real life as it is on the listing. Laura & Martin are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, responsive hosts. We felt right at home. We had all the amenities of home…even rubber boots to borrow for swampy bird hikes. Highly recommend!

This home is a hidden gem. I stayed here with my family while moving my daughter into UAF. It is located within a 20 minute drive of Fairbanks Airport as well as UAF campus. The home was beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The hosts were amazing. Complimentary breakfast items and snacks were available on arrival. I will absolutely be back to stay here again.

Laura was very available for any questions I had and to give me information regarding our stay. She sent me links for things to do after she learned why we were there and what we wanted to see. She acted as my VRBO travel agent which was much appreciated! The home is quaint and the decor is Alaskan eclectic. It’s was fun to just look at what they have gathered. The home was clean and well stocked with everything you would need for your stay. Overall? It was a nice calm getaway at a great house. The house is tucked away from town and business and allowed us to just sit and take in nature. I would go back again, it’s just a nice, peaceful place.

This was a great place to stay and recover from our jet lag. Laura and David were excellent, helpful hosts. We would highly recommend the Gilmore house, we only wish we had time to stay longer. The house is located several miles out of town, fairly rustic and only one bathroom, but if you are looking to be out of town for a little peace and quietness, this place is perfect.

Gilmore House is a lovely comfortable property with a huge hilly yard opening up to great views. The home is full of antiques and interesting historical pictures that you could spend hours perusing. A generous starter of food and snacks was most appreciated. Most significantly, Laura and Martin are terrific hosts and super interesting people and went out of their way to make sure we had everything that we needed. They are what makes VRBO a great traveling tool.

Our stay was wonderful, Martin & Laura were extremely accommodating and communicated well. We stayed for 9 nights while we sold our Fairbanks home and they were very kind and helpful while we had a lot going on. The house is older and has a great Fairbanks/cabin vibe. The house was very cute and comfortable and had everything we needed (including fans!)

Great stay!! Beautiful views from every window! Very remote feeling and private!! Hosts were fabulous! Very attentive when needed. Very clean and organized. Snacks and some food in the refrigerator. What an AMAZING hidden gem! The house was seriously so cool. So many things to look at and read. The kitchen was perfect for our needs and the bedrooms were great. But honestly, the best part of this entire stay was getting to meet Laura and talk with her. What an amazing woman with some amazing stories about coming to Alaska. She is seriously the sweetest, coest person to talk to and so incredibly hospitable. We absolutely recommend staying with Laura and Martin at the Gilmore house!

Laura and Martin were amazing hosts! The cabin is cozy and warm. If you are going for the Northern Lights, this cabin is the perfect spot. Close enough to the city for touristing during the day and far enough in the hills to get out of the ice fog and watch the Northern Lights dance at night. Highly recommend this rental!

Cute, simple, rustic Alaskan cottage just outside of town enough to soak in that Alaskan feel but close enough to be a good location for taking in all of the things Fairbanks offers. Ohh and the view into the valley below is fantastic! Martin and Laura are wonderful hosts and offer any help you need in planning, places to visit, things to do, etc! They even included some fresh eggs, bacon, and snacks to start the trip off right! On this trip, we were able to see eagles, moose, caribou, fox, a beaver and a porcupine while in the area. Also, I must mention if you’re the pioneering spirit, there is a public access creek only minutes away from Gilmore House to try your hand at gold panning! We didn't get rich but those colors in the pan were pretty exciting to see!Anyone wanting to have that classic alaskan stay with beautiful views, fresh air, and no traffic to simply relax, you should give this place a look!
