About Sam Cave
We are a retired couple from Minnesota.
Sam Cave purchased this House in 2007
Why Sam Cave chose Ermita Santa Lucia
We chose to buy our winter home (winter in Minnesota)in Antigua because of the perfect weather. Antigua provides a great place to live. It is safe and has lots of amenities, yet provides easy access to the villages and other cities of Guatemala. Antigua provides a respite from the harsher conditions under which many Guatemalans live. We participate with and often act as dinner hosts to educational and mercy groups that come to Antigua before, after, or during their projects.
What makes this House unique
We love to take breakfast on the corridor beside the garden. We often have an evening meal or snack and glass of wine while watching Volcano Fuego spout off or watching the clouds passing Volcano Agua from our second floor patio.

Great property in convenient location
This is a beautiful, well furnished, spacious house in a very secure area within walking distance to the grocery store, language schools, and the Central Plaza.
This is a beautiful house. The pictures, great as they are, still do not do it justice.
We felt very blessed to be able to stay here for a week and a bit. It is well furnished with very nice rooms. The view from the master bedroom of the mountain is phenomenal to wake up to, and we loved the beauty of the open air garden in the center of the house. I am very hopeful we will have the opportunity to stay here again. It is convenient to shopping and a comfortable walk to the central square. The community it is in is safe and well kept. I could not recommend it more highly.
Beautiful spacious colonial style home.
I had the upstairs master bedroom with bath and walking closet. Upon waking I would open the bedroom door and in the morning l had a clear view of the monumental bluish green volcano. It was breath taking. The downstairs atrium was charming. It was surrounded by colorful flowers, hanging ferns and a quaint colonial fountain in the middle. It reminded me when I was young and lived in Antigua with my parents. The home was very clean. Comfortable and lovely.
Picturesque inside and out!
Our family of 4 (mom, dad and 2 teenagers) have stayed at several other locations in Antigua, and this was by far the best AND the best value! The location on the west end of Antigua is handy to everything, especially the market, "grocery store" and bus station. All Antigua highlights are within walking distance. The times we stayed "at home," we found the volcano views stunning .... day and night! Be sure to lounge on the rooftop at night to see Fuego's lava spurt and flow! If traveling during the rainy season, we recommend bringing or buying bug spray. With the rain came mosquitos. We would have liked to have the house more open to take advantage of the fresh "eternal spring" air, but kept doors and windows closed, especially at night, to keep the bugs out. There are fans in each bedroom to help keep air circulating and bugs at bay. The house overall is so lovely, that the mosquitos were a small inconvenience. We would stay here again, rainy season or not!
Beautiful home, convenient location
Everything about this house worked well for our family! The layout accommodated everyone with plenty of room. The house was clean and well cared for and the location felt safe. Property manager was available and attentive to our questions/concerns.
Beautiful home and well stocked kitchen. Quiet and safe area, but need to walk on a very stinky, bus-filled street the last block to get to the home. Otherwise very nice.
Yes, septima calle ( Calle el Espiritu Santo) is a bus route. That makes it very handy for catching a bus but somewhat smoky and smelly during rush hours. We generally walk on sexta calle one block north to avoid the bus traffic. It is shady and pleasant.
