About Clifton and Darra Dukes

Our family has been boating for years and have dreamed of getting a second home on the water. This year we finally realized that dream and purchased the cabin in Logsdon Landing.

Clifton and Darra Dukes purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Clifton and Darra Dukes chose Clarkson

We purchased this cabin at Nolin Lake because it is a beautiful lake that is perfect for water sports.

What makes this cabin unique

We enjoy tubing and wakeboarding with kids and sitting by the fire, roasting smores in the evenings!!!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We most appreciated the fire pit, three bathrooms, and the multiple seats in the living room. We most enjoyed the nightly bonfire! Such beautiful scenery

Peace and Quiet

  • 4 of 5

It’s a beautiful cabin in the woods. Very little cell service but that was just fine by us. The lake is NOT next to the house, and Now that they are building more houses around Logsdon Landing neighborhood, I’m sure it won’t be the same down the road. Only one long trail to get to the lake that everyone shares, so if other renters are down there there’s no other beach/lake access.

The House was cozy and comfy for all of us. It had everything we could think of and needed. Beds were nice and the place was clean.

Somewhat of a let down

  • 3 of 5

Positives: Cabin was clean. Linens and bedding were comfortable. Kitchen and paper supplies were adequately stocked, nice fire pit area, plenty of hot water for multiple guests to shower.

Negatives: Rotten food left in trash by previous guests. Whole cabin reeked upon arrival. We had to empty trash and wash out can. Not fun after just traveling 4 hours. When renting keep in mind cabin is remote and hard to get to, Curvy, winding roads make going for supplies or dinner seem like it takes an eternity to reach your destination. Cabin could use some TLC; stained carpeting downstairs, old throw pillows on sofa and outdoor furniture, maybe fresh brooms for sweeping off porches, new charcoal grill (entire bottom is rusted out). An outdoor trash can at the cabin would be nice so trash would not have to be carried to cans at bottom of hill. No Keurig coffee maker as listed and WII game system had no batteries. Lake trail is NOT easy access to lake! Trail is not maintained. It is overgrown with weeds. My son and I attempted to get down to the lake but were covered in chiggers before we even reached the lake despite applying bug spray before heading out. We gave up and returned to the cabin to shower to get the chiggers off. I know that outdoor bugs are not the owners fault but be aware the trail is not maintained as pictured. Probably would not use this rental again due to distance from attractions and lack of lake view/access.

great cabin! quiet, private, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was in a perfect setting, tucked back in the woods to privacy and a relaxing way to get off the grid. There was a nice television there, but we never turned it on. Comfortable beds, plenty of separate porches and patios, and plenty of activities on the lake (just an easy walk down a trail to the water) for family members to get some space from each other, but a huge living room with several couches for us all to congregate when we wanted. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook large meals, plus a large gas grill - and you can be in town in 15 minutes to a Super Walmart for all grocery needs. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Very nice, remote and peaceful.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin. Everything was very nice and it was extremely quiet and peaceful. Only suggestion would be a bit more lighting or better light bulbs. Thank you. Steve

Great place with lots of space!!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay and enjoyed sitting in the back deck in the morning. However, at night some of the rooms were dark since there were only lamps to use. Can sleep a lot of people and with three bathrooms can get ready quickly. Great place to rent and would highly recommmend it!!!!

Great property to stay at!

  • 5 of 5

The stay in the house was great. They had all the needed kitchen equipment and it was in good shape. We couldn't figure out the TV but that just made it all that much better because we had to spend time with each other instead of vegging out watching TV. Also, cell service is not good there so that worked great for a bunch of teenagers who would rather been on their phones instead of talk to each other. Cabin isn't really close to the lake and not any good way to get on the water from the access that is there. No yard for kids to play in so that was a bummer. It is in the middle of the places that we wanted to go so that worked out great. All in all a good stay.
