Very homey, slightly cluttered, and very comfortable!
We very much enjoyed being in a ground floor apt and not having to climb stairs with my bad knees Also loved having access to PierSix restaurant right out the back gate. The apt was equipped with everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again when in San Leon!

It was such a pleasure having you both! We absolutely enjoyed the fact you were so clean, respectful of our Inn and so quiet! That is very much a privilege to have as guests. We would love to have you back anytime!

Our host , Julie, is so sweet! She left us drinks and snacks, met us upon our arrival and provided a personal tour of the property and recommendations for dining. The gardens were absolutely beautiful and all the seating made it so easy to enjoy them. The inn was nice and provided everything we needed. A great little trip for our anniversary!

Dear Deborah,

lovely review.

We stayed here for our 24th wedding anniversary weekend that just happened to share the 4th of July weekendl holiday. It was so nice and secluded. But there was also a restaurant in walking distance. It’s 15 min from Walmart. So we shopped at family dollar for some essentials. Galveston is a short drive away, we had a great day trip there. Then it was so nice to come back to a secluded garden paradise and enjoyed our stay! Hostesses were very communicative and helped when we asked for it. I recommend this stay for any couple looking to get away, but still be with in walking distance to the beach and there are several attractions within driving distance. Thank you Hostesses for your hospitality and a great Vrbo first time stay.

We loved the property and literally walked threw back yard to get to Pier 6. Beautiful landscaped walk to enjoy the water, enjoyed setting at bistro table. The only drawbacks were their was someone staying up above us and was up running around at 1am to 4 am and again late into the night the next. The bed was a little to hard for us but we got a good sleep the last night no one was upstairs. The area and cottage was so relaxed and clean. Would love to stay again
Located in laid-back San Leon, this retreat offers a peaceful place to unwind. Parking under a covered canopy gave easy & direct access to a back door to unload the vehicle.
Central air works even with 100 degree temps outside. Comfortable queen bed with upscale linens. Bathroom has plenty of grab bars for safety with plush, oversize towels.
Kitchen is functional with a better than average set of cutlery. I could not find a toaster nor toaster oven as described in listing. Used the oven instead to brown toast - easy remedy.
Aptly named the "Gallery," this well-insulated concrete block construction is decorated with an eclectic mix of furnishings and art. Seafood restaurants nearby: Pier 6 and Top-Water Grill both had water views.
The Windmill Gardens Inn was delightful! It was so charming and we enjoyed our weekend! We really liked being able to walk to the Pier 6 Restaurant to enjoy the delicious food and sunsets! Thank you Julie for the snacks and drinks you left for us!
Julie Hall was searching for a coastal place near the water. She came across a house and discovered the previous owner was Mark Inabnit who was known for his publications, one well known today as Houston Home and Gardens.
He passed away in 1997, never able to complete his project with the house. Julie's background in interior design was up for the challenge to convert the concrete block house into her dream home and that is exactly what she did!
Windmill Gardens Inn today is well known as a landmark with a Windmill perched upon the roof that provides a unique style of its own. Each of the units are designed differently with a name setting apart the artistic flare to make anyone feel right at home.
Why they chose this property
Windmill Gardens Inn can be envisioned as a nest of tropical cottage and bungalow-style accommodations nestled in a truly sub-tropical jungle setting. You will feel as though you have entered into a little bit of Eden, as the tensions of a busy world seem to melt away.... ....the very moment you arrive.
What makes this property unique
The gardens were created and are managed by a well-known horticulturist with a passion for Tropical Botany and who is responsible for helping to create, nurture and grow some of the largest and most fabulous professional gardens on the Gulf Coast.
