Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8 adults and two children in bunk beds)

This beautiful home comes fully furnished for you and your family. We have an on site caretaker named Alfredo that lives in his own small home on the property and is a helpful, kind gentleman. The house is on a slight hill about 60 meters/yards from the water. This ensures beautiful views and additional privacy. Four bedrooms and two full baths. Three of the bedrooms have full size beds and one bedroom has a full bed and a set of bunk beds for children. There is also a nice crib for families with infants.

The beach in front of the home is known as one of the premier beaches in Central America, and that is why Jack Nicklaus is putting 'Seaside Mariana' only a couple miles south of our home. The beach shelf is so gradual that in low tide, there is about 100 yards/meters of beach. Unique volcanic rock formations transform into mini waterfalls and tide pools throughout the day with the changing of the tides.

We also own a beautiful lot three minutes walk from the home with lots of shade from mature palm and almond trees. This lot IS ON THE WATER and is included in the rental for your enjoyment.

A beautiful walk up the beach (20 minutes) in the morning will take you to the fresh seafood market. All different types of fish, rays, clams, shrimp, lobster, etc can be purchased just as soon as it makes it's way off the local fishing boats. It doesn't get fresher. There are horseback rides on the beach and four-wheelers (ATVs) for rent as well.

If you enjoy gambling there is a casino at the Barcelo Montelimar resort located in nearby Masachapa, that is open to the pubic and open 24 hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Banking: There is also a new ATM in Masachapa and a Bank in San Rafael del Sur, the nearest medium sized town with a grocery store.

The home is located in Pochomil, which is an older development that is the home to many of the Nicaraguan elite, foreign diplomats, and expats. It is also the closest beach to Managua. The former president of Nicaragua lives just a short walk down the beach. The road is paved and well maintained all the way to Pochomil which is a huge plus in Nicaragua. There is also a Barcelo resort in the nearby town of Masachapa with a casino if you want to try your luck.

We look forward to having you stay at our home and don't forget that Alfredo will make sure that the pool is ready and the hammocks hung waiting for you!

Please be aware that we do not have WIFI or internet at the home. There is a TV but we also do not have cable.

The home can also be rented with a full time cook/maid for an additional charge of 25 dollars per day.

A 4x4 my be needed to get all the way to the home in the rainy season due to unpredictable road conditions in this season.

THE SURF: The surf break in front of the house is a gradual, sloping beachbreak with several sandbars which is perfect for beginner to intermediate surfers. Crowds are not a factor- you will most likely have the entire lineup to yourself! The break is best on WSW swells and benefits from Nicaragua's famous 250+ days of offshore winds per year. At low tide, about 100 yards of beach is exposed. To the north of the house are the famed, world class breaks near Playa San Diego (Chiggas, Hemmies, Pipes) which are fast, hollow and challenging. You can get to San Diego via car (30-45 minutes) or via water by hiring a local fisherman in Masachapa.

Keywords: Beach, Front, Ocean, View, rancho, swimming, pool, AC, onsite, parking

Because I get these questions every week I wanted to mention it at the beginning of the description. No one night rentals. There is a two night minimum rental time. The maximum number of guests is 10 if there are two children in the group that can sleep in the bunk beds. All quotes are for up to 8 guests.

Great place to get away from it all

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned from a great stay in Pochomil. The house was perfect for our young family (2.5 year old and 7 month old). The beach was a stones throw away, and deserted. It was so great to disconnect for a week, spend time at the house and enjoy the simple things. Highly suggest a trip or 2 to the fish market. Also the housekeeper and cook is fantastic. She made our vacation a true vacation...never having to worry about meals or spending nap time prepping dinner! Fresh mangos from the tree by the pool were an extra treat!

Counting the Days Until Our Return

  • 5 of 5

This place is just awesome! Finding the home is an adventure, but once we arrived it was just perfect! Carlos (the caretaker) is so friendly and accommodating! The house is a great place to relax when you're recouping from the rum, swing in the many hammocks, or read by the pool. Once you're ready for the beach, it is literally RIGHT THERE! Walking in either direction is simply gorgeous, and can take you to some amazing local places for food, drink, and entertainment.

The house itself is nice, with a/c in every room, and a place to unpack if you're staying for more than a few days. The kitchen is great, providing basic necessities and a nice fridge and stove. To be honest, we didn't spend much time in the family room, but only because the view outside is breathtaking and worth spending every minute outside.

This time our trip was more romantic, but we are definitely planning on taking the children next year! I can't wait to go experience Casa Del Mar again!!!

HAVE TO GO!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this place once in 2011 and once in 2012. I have traveled all over to warm places such as the Caribbean, Bahamas, Florida, and to Hawaii 9 times. It is by far the nicest place to go. Nicely priced, nice people, and a great house(even with a pool). One of the nicest beaches in Nicaragua. I will defiantly be going back here in 2013!

My wife and I had the beach all to ourselves!

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights at the house during our trip to Nicaragua. Finding the place was a bit of an adventure but once we were there it was great. It was really comfortable and the beach was amazing. The owners also have another lot right on the water that was close to the house. So we could have our little picnics right on the beach under the shade of the palm and almond trees. My wife loved that she could take a horseback ride on the beach each day for just a few dollars. I loved the little thatched roof cantina's on the beach where I could have a cold beer and some seafood in between body boarding. Overall we had a great stay and the price was good for what you get. Thanks Damian!

Great place to relax, unwind and enjoy a quiet beautiful beach without crowds

  • 5 of 5

I've been coming to Nica for several years now and have been all over the country. I love that there are so many things to do and see while there. If you want Caribbean turquoise waters and white sand then hit the Corn Islands. If you want to sandboard down an active volcano head to Leon. If you want to stay in a extinct volcano crater lagoon head toward Granada. If you want a bustling expat community and a beautiful Spanish Colonial town then head to Granada. Cigars and coffee, head to Matagalpa and Esteli in the north. Amazingly good rum for cheap...everywhere ;-)

Pochomil is a relatively quiet beach community for the Nicaraguan elite, diplomats and expats. It's a quiet but very safe and super close to Managua. In about one and a half hours driving slow you can get from Managua to Pochomil and be sipping a drink on the beach at one of the local beach cantinas.

Sometimes you have the beach all to yourself. The sound of the waves crashing in is music to my ears. I also enjoy a bonfire on the beach with some drinks and watching the sunset.

There's decent surfing nearby and great waves for body boarding right in front of the house.

As you can tell I love the place and will be back again. The house is more like a compound with a main gate that you drive into with parking for three cars. I found the place well equipped for cooking. Nice stove, fridge and all the kitchen stuff you can expect from a beach house. Comfortable beds and A/C in each room worked well but we only needed it at night. Outside shower for rinsing off after a dip in the ocean. Nice rancho for taking a nap in a hammock and avoiding the mid day sun. Barbecue grill if you gather some driftwood you can grill up a nice fish or lobster which you can pick up at the local seafood market that is open every morning and about a 30 min walk down the ocean or a ten min drive. Owners were easy to deal with. 24/7 caretaker who is very vigilant but doesn't speak any english. Charades is part of the adventure as English is not spoken in many places other than Granada and San Juan Del Sur. I love the adventure aspect of the country. Your imagination is the only limit to the fun you can have. Thanks for the great stay and the great memory and hope to see you again next year!
