The house is easy to find it was beautiful inside and out beautifully decorated the nicest home we’ve ever rented. A very peaceful winter escape. Easy spacious parking inside of a gated property. Look forward to staying here in the future.
This is a beautiful, relaxing place to stay. It is decorated gorgeous, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to make a delicious meal to enjoy in the beautiful backyard around the fire pit.

Thank you Randy. It was our pleasure. Hope you can return again soon.
The cutest, most peaceful and thoughtfully arranged home from the outside settings down to the snacks and cozy decor. This place was even able to get my teenage son to snag a cup of tea and sit out back quielty.
We needed this. Perfect for a couple, parent/kid bomding or individual retreat
This was my second stay at the Settler’s Cottage. I brought my mother, for my birthday. It was a wonderful staycation, restful, relaxed, and restorative. Thank you, Mitzi, for the birthday cake. It was delicious!

Thank you Freida. It’s always a pleasure working with you. Please comeback soon.
This property was absolutely delightful. My husband and I came up to celebrate his 40th birthday and it was everything we had hoped for. The cottage is cozy and well equipped. There are no services in Pine Valley but Mitzi let us know ahead of time so we were well prepared. We very much enjoyed our stay and didn’t want to leave.
This was exactly what we hoped it would be. Quaint, incredibly clean and personalized for our stay. I can’t recommend this enough. The stars alone are worthy the trip. Thanks you so very much. We will be back!
Stayed here for four nights and it was such a tranquil retreat from city life. Super cozy and comfortable, and extremely clean. We traveled an hour away on two separate days for leisure activities, but it was worth the drive to be able to return to this little mountain oasis! Also really appreciated the kind neighbors who suggested a spontaneous hike (Whipple Trail) just up the road from the property. Will definitely stay here again if we return to the area!
Big thanks to our wonderful hosts!!!

This property is wonderful, so cozy. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, cutlery, cooking ware, Keurig & accessories, seasonings, microwave, cook stove, grill, medium size fridge, in short, everything and the kitchen sink ;)
The bed was comfortable, and the atmosphere conducive to rest and relaxation. Ultimate ZEN. We thoroughly enjoyed porch sitting while marinating, luxuriously in the Mountain Views (out-door rocking chairs, macramé hanging seat, lawn chairs around a fire pit…).
We also appreciated the preservation of an old structure with modern flavor. Truly a work of art. We will definitely be back to stay again.
We had a delightful stay at the cottage. It was a step above other vacation rentals I've stayed. It was beautifully decorated with much attention to detail. The owners have a flair for it. Everywhere one looked, there was something of interest. I felt their intent to create a relaxing and soothing environment was directed at me personally. Moreover, the cottage was well appointed, with a very comfortable and large bed, a mini-split air handler, and a fully functional kitchen. Also, I ended up really appreciating the basket of snacks, as the nearest market was a considerable distance. Loved it and hope to be back soon.

It was our pleasure Thomas. That you for your kind words. We’d welcome you back anytime.
I can't say enough good things about this wonderful little vacation. First of all, the owners were super nice, polite, informative and communicative. The property itself far exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail was so thoughtful. The snacks were such a generous touch. The decor is so cute and homey. My husband and I live about 45 miles away so it was a perfect little getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. It was our time to renew and rejuvenate. And this was the perfect place to do it. Thank you so much! We will definitley be returning to your little paradise in Pine Valley!
Beautifully renovated cottage with high end amenities. Check in was seamless, opening the front door you are greeted by soft music, lights are on, and a diffuser subtly scents the interior. Kitchen is well appointed and a basket of snacks was really appreciated! Living room was very comfortable and made cozy with the fireplace. Bedroom has a king bed that was soft and comfortable. Bath was exquisite! Outside there were different seating areas complete with pillows and blanket throws. We were so relaxed and really didn’t want to leave! Area is very quiet, neighbors were friendly. We did a lot of walking and biking. Well done, Mitzi!

Thank you! It was a pleasure hosting you! Please come back soon, we’d love to have you.
A pretty, quaint, & cozy home! Nice touches, ample 'extras,' and helpful additional supplies. The stay itself, it began with a nice neighborhood walk, meeting tons of friendly folks. We followed up with a soothing stream and reservoir visit. Then, we hiked Forsythe trail, until we never found the end of it. This special hideaway, it gave me the opportunity to reflect on life, while my husband just got to gel with life. And the stargazing? Awesome! Beautifully, all doors are open. We so love the Utah mountains, & with this little 'Settler's Cottage,' it comfortably assures us that we will return to do it all over again! Thanks Mitzi!

About the host
Hosted by Mitzi
My sister Linda and I began our journey as hosts in Park City, Utah, back in 2003. We started by purchasing and remodeling several condos, which we initially handed over to property managers. As the short-term rental market grew, especially with platforms like VRBO, we decided to take on managing them ourselves.
By 2015, we sold our eight properties in Park City and chose to start again, this time closer to home in Pine Valley, Utah. With the help of my husband, Kendall, we take great pride in personally caring for each of our properties. We love creating spaces where guests can feel at home, and we’re proud of the unique experiences our homes offer.
Why they chose this property
We chose Pine Valley because it holds a special place in our hearts, filled with family memories. Our parents owned property here, and my sister Linda still owns the Petersen Cottage. When we decided to leave Park City, we knew that Pine Valley, with its rich history and serene beauty, was the perfect place to settle. It’s truly a hidden gem, a little slice of heaven that we wanted to share with our guests, so they can experience the peace and charm of this unique town.
What makes this property unique
Settlers Cottage is truly unique because it retains its original brick structure from one of the early settlers of the area. Each room tells the story of a different time and owner, creating a one-of-a-kind blend of history and charm. The bedroom was originally a shed, rolled in on logs, which explains the unusual width of the wall next to the house. The kitchen, built in the 1940s or 50s, predates modern conveniences like electricity and plumbing. The bathroom wasn’t added until the 1970s.
When we purchased the property, we updated it with all the modern essentials, including electrical systems, plumbing, windows, and doors. Although many suggested we tear it down, preserving its history was important to us. Our guests now get to experience the perfect mix of old and new—the yin and yang of different generations. In a world of instant gratification, a stay here offers the chance to step back in time and enjoy a simpler way of living, even if just for a short while.
