Dear Clint, Thank you for your review; and for choosing Sundial Q401 as your home away from home for your 2 week Sanibel stay. I have forwarded your comments to the private housekeeper for the condo - I am shocked (and disappointed) that the condo was not up to snuff in regards to cleaning. We have enjoyed a 24 year relationship with the owners of this condo, and it is extremely rare that we receive a report that the housekeeping was sub-par. Rest assured, we'll be sure to "inspect what we expect" so that this does not happen again. I can only apologize that your vacation wasn't the absolute best that it could be. Had we been made aware of these 2 very important issues, we would have addressed it straight away. We send an email at check-in that specifically asks that should you find any housekeeping or maintenance issues, that they be reported immediately so that they can be addressed. I am concerned that you would choose to stay for 2 weeks and not call us to at least report how you found the condo, email or not. We would have sent the housekeeper back immediately; and, we would have provided a complimentary maid service halfway through your stay. We have no record of a phone call or email from you regarding the cleanliness of the condo or the performance of the wifi. Likewise, the internet service is 50mbps at the condo, which is more than adequate for streaming programming, etc. BUT, when wifi is slow (which usually happens after a power fluctuation or outage), we place a call to Xfinity and have a refresh signal pushed through to the unit modem, and that usually fixes it! :) Given that you only had 3 people in residence, this would not have been an issue of having too many devices connected to the network, which would definitely bring the wifi speed to a crawl. We have guests departing this morning (17 August), that arrived on your departure date, so we'll inquire with them about the internet, as well as the unit cleanliness. This is something that I always mention at check-in - to please check your wifi and cable settings once you get to the condo, that way we can address any issues right away. We appreciate that your vacation is an emotional as well as significant financial investment, and we would welcome the opportunity to make this right, should you choose to return to this condo, or another one of our properties. We are pleased that the layout worked for your family, and that the complimentary beach chairs allowed you to enjoy views of the gulf and run sand through your toes. We continue to search for a solution to the slow internet on the island. It is slow island-wide during the winter season, no matter the provider. Sundial's internet is provided by their condo association, and we have learned that bumping up the speed has no effect, since demand overwhelms the entire infrastructure (Century Link and Comcast are installing fiber optic line in a limited area to assist 911 emergency services and City Hall, because they cannot get reliable service during season, either). Oh, to go back to simpler times, with pay phones and pagers for messaging! :) We appreciate that your vacation is an investment, both financially and emotionally, and we thank you for choosing Cottages to Castles to assist you in your vacation planning. Dear Michele, Thank you for taking the time to provide awesome feedback on your stay at Sundial Q401. We try very hard to connect the dots in advance of your arrival, as well as during your stay, so that you'll have a memorable vacation at your home away from home. The Sundial Q401 owners were delighted to have been approved for a washer/dryer installation, and we wasted no time in remodeling the condo to accommodate it. We provide complimentary detergent as well, so that when you do have to spend time catching up on laundry, that's one less expense to incur. I apologize for the slow wifi connection that you experienced during your stay. We recognize that not everyone is on vacation, and needs access to a reliable internet connection. In addition to the open-access wifi provided by the condo association, this owner opted to pay extra for their own, separate 50mbps service (the highest we can get on the island, unfortunately). With frequent summertime power outages, we sometimes have to call the internet provider from the unit phone and have a signal refresh pushed through so that you can enjoy "normal" connectivity and speeds, especially if you have a large family group. 8 people in residence can mean 8 - 16 devices - or more - drawing on the wifi bandwidth, which will definitely slow it down. :( Moving forward, we'll implement a call-in procedure to refresh wifi signals after a power outage. Better to be safe with a fresh signal and avoid a slow connection! We thank you for choosing Sundial Q401 and our company to assist you with your vacation planning. I can only offer an apology on behalf of the Owner for the Sundial Condo Association having the elevator in and out of service during your stay. We worked tirelessly on your behalf prior to and after your arrival to ensure that there would be suitable service, and Sundial's disappointing response was that they only have someone on staff Monday through Friday from 8a - 4p. Rest assured, I have reached out to the Owner of Q401, and the Sundial Board, to address this. You are 100% right. It would be nice, especially over a Holiday, to have someone available to handle unforeseen maintenance problems that cannot wait until the next business day! New locks had been installed in April by the Association as well, and it appears one set proved to be difficult to operate. I'm glad we had another functional set to offer you. We have disposed of that set! We pride ourselves on our responsiveness to unforeseen issues. I am on call 24/7 to respond to any concerns, and I personally answered your call at 9pm on July 4. After assessing the problem, I explained that I would do my absolute BEST to get a plumber to you, but I could not guarantee it, as the Causeway Islands were closed to through traffic for the upcoming (ultimately canceled) fireworks. I even offered to come over myself, and bring a fill valve kit with me (yes, we keep a spare on hand!). I simply wanted to be clear that being on an island has its challenges, and July 4 fireworks/road closures can make for a big logistical challenge. Other agencies would consider a non-filling toilet a non-emergency and would have let your call go to voicemail and called you back during normal business hours. We answered your call. We appreciate that your vacation is an investment, and being able to locate a plumber on-island that was willing to come fix the $12 problem for $250 at 9:30pm was a big win! And, you know what? We're thrilled that Walker Plumbing responded so quickly! Your stay and satisfaction is worth every penny! We are making some wonderful improvements to Q401 in the coming weeks. New Plantation Shutters are being installed, new furnishings are arriving, and we would welcome the opportunity to let us make it right and have you and your family return, with a special Friends & Family rate.
