Why owner/property manager chose Somers
I bought this property to work on my artwork. The magnificent views of the lake and sounds of the waves crashing onto the bluff serve as great inspiration.
What makes this House unique
This house is unique to other waterfront properties in Wisconsin because you can hear waves crash onto the bluff when weather permits whereas houses on smaller lakefronts don't offer such sounds. The house scenic, peaceful, romantic, inviting, inspirational, private, quiet, and serene yet is close to shopping, restaurants, golfing, entertainment, and much more.

It's a lovely place, lots of room, not far from some interesting places to visit (Tenuda's Italian grocery, the cheese castle), but it's best feature is the glorious lake, sunny or rainy, it was wonderful. We had some trouble getting the TVs to work and a few other minor items needed attention but it was generally comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The owner has also been very nice to work with.
We thank ilona for her stay and checked that all of the 9 TVs did work except for 1 which needed new batteries on the remote. ilona never contacted me with any issues during her stay but if she did I could have fixed the issue. Every vacation rental will have a learning curve to using TVs because of the cable provider but this is the first group of over 200 groups that could not figure out how to work the TVs. Someone from ilona's group tried to fill up the outdoor hot tub in the winter when it was drained, winterized, and sealed off and left the hose running for over 2 days after we arrived. Nobody from her group told us about this but she was nice enough to pay a modest water bill which I hoped covered the added expense.
Great Vacation Home!
The location was nice right on Lake Michigan but more importantly the house was amazing. We stayed with our family and the nice living area, family room and kitchen made it nice to just hang out and talk, shoot pool or eat. The house was well furnished and clean. We would come back and would recommend this home to anyone looking for a place to stay.
Greetings and thank you for your nice feedback. After you left we actually brought new genuine leather furniture to the great room and cleaned up the garage which needed a make over so it looks even better than before. If you want to rent from me in the future you can contact me directly so you don't have to pay the booking fee. The best to you. Cheers.
Perfect place for our large family Thanksgiving--quite, peaceful and beautiful Lake Michigan sunrises. Found the house to be exactly as shown/described in the listing. Lots of room and high-end kitchen allowed us to prepare everyone's favorite dishes.
Owner very accommodating. Wonderful visit.
Beautiful home but many rules
The property is beautiful and better than the pictures show but there are so many rules. You can't have a fire once the sun has set which seems counter intuative and there are all sorts of other rules to abide by. We weren't a crazy group so would have been nice to be able to spend evenings outdoors enjoying the location.
We appreciate Jeff's stay but his statement that you can't have a fire after sunset is inaccurate. My rules state that groups must respect my neighbors right for peace and quiet and not make loud noises after sunset outdoors. This is just common courtesy and many groups use the fire pit after sunset all the up until the sun rises. Another rule is if a group dirties the out door hot tub and we have to drain and refill it then there is a modest $75 charge, which I charged him and which probably led to his sub-par review. The hot tub was clean before he arrived but he and his group did not take care of it during their 3-night stay. We sent him pictures as proof.
We were visiting the area for the Ragnar relay from Madison to Chicago, and found this home for the twelve of us to stay in. We've rented other houses at other races and this one is by far the nicest we've stayed in. The bedrooms are laid out, so that everyone has some privacy, no more than two rooms have to share a restroom, and the basement/work-out room has it's own bed and bathroom as well. The kitchen, dining and living room area are great for large groups, and the outdoor / patio area is great for cooking out. You'll definitely want to stay here.
Fantastic Home Away from Home
My family and friends celebrated my birthday with a long three-day weekend at the Retreat. Daniel was super to work with before, during and after our stay. And we were thoroughly delighted with our visit! The house is just a beautiful as the photos indicate, and fully equipped for comfort and fun. The bedrooms and bathrooms are plentiful, super comfortable, and met all our needs. Kitchen was fantastic and we loved cooking and socializing in it. The sunken living room is beautiful and comfortable, while the family room accommodated many a game of pool and darts as well as some delightful movie watching by the whole gang. The master bedroom and bath are a dream (oh man, that jacuzzi!). We enjoyed the enclosed patio and the balconies, the outside patio and fire pit, the hot tub, some games of volleyball and badminton, and the little patio overlooking the lake at the bottom of the stairs. The cram-packed game cupboard provided a fun puzzle and trivia game. And probably best of all were the three spectacular sunrises and three glorious moonrises we got to see. In short, we didn't even have to leave the property to enjoy ourselves immensely. Everything was very clean, and there are plenty of instructions all over for using the tons of equipment and appliances provided. I can't imagine anyone not loving staying in this comfortable and spectacular home. Thsnks so much, Daniel!
