Join us at our lakefront log cabin located on beautiful Lake Bob Sandlin in the Piney Woods of East Texas near Mount Vernon, Mount Pleasant and Pittsburg.
If you are seeking a 5 star Hilton resort full of tourist sites to see and wear you down, well, our place is the opposite as we offer peace, quiet, nature and relaxation. No white table cloth restaurants but we have two grills and a great catfish house just down the road.
Our special place is nestled among tall pine, maple and hickory trees in a quaint, private setting…the perfect retreat to relax and unwind away from the frantic pace of city life, while getting reacquainted with nature. From fishing, water skiing, sunbathing, swimming, hiking, nature walks, biking and more – it’s right outside the window of our cozy home. Perfect for your family, friends or that special someone to create memories in an extraordinary environment. Great for quilt and scrap booking retreats… and don’t forget our fishing tournaments.
You will want to rise-n-shine early in the morning to enjoy your coffee on the back porch or deck while enjoying the 210 degree view of the lake. Grab your paper or fishing pole and head down to our private dock to relax in the rocking chairs to witness the sunrise as the lake comes to life. Lake Bob Sandlin is approximate 10,000 acres with a 120 mile shoreline known for its trophy fishing and an abundance of ducks, coots, heron and other birds. During the winter months, we have witnessed two bald eagles in our back yard. Let’s not forget the raccoons, squirrels and deer! If fishing is not your forte, then swing lazily in our lakeside hammocks reading your favorite book while enjoying spectacular views of the lake. Plenty of antique shops and places to eat in nearby Mount Vernon, Mount Pleasant and Pittsburg…just minutes away.
Our two story log home has a vaulted ceiling with a stone fireplace…and stands tall on its authentic style stone foundation with impressive views of the lake. Featuring 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, our 1500SF cabin is complimented by 1000SF of decks and porches as well as a 1200SF boathouse. Our woodsy cabin features custom stained glass, vintage art and handcrafted log furniture. The sun gleams through the stained glass windows adding color, light and coziness of our home. The dining area is open to the fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster and blender with the washer and dryer located in the utility room. The large breakfast counter/food prep area is highlighted by mosaic depiction of the Texas Flag while discretely tucking away a complete entertainment center that includes TV, Dish Satellite, DVD and Video Game System … with a limited library of music, movies and games. Each bedroom features a small TV/VCR. Our video tape library is extensive as well as board games…just in case it rains. Yes, we now offer FREE Wi-Fi just in case you need to contact the outside world...however the internet bandwidth is not suitable for video and game streaming. By the way, the perfect place for rain is on the back porch as the rain hits the tin roof.
Each of the 3 bedrooms is furnished with comfortable queen size beds. The downstairs master bedroom offers a TV/DVD/VCR combo, antique furnishing and a wonderful view of the lake…a perfect view to wake up to. The two bedrooms upstairs also offer TV/VCR units, one with lake view and the other with a view of the tree tops. Our property is perfect for a couple, family or a friends weekend away and sleeps 6 comfortably (3 queen beds). While we allow 8 guests max, 2 will have to bunk in front of the TV on the couch or in sleeping bags.
Ready for romance? For the adults, we have a hot tub on the rear deck…perfect for night time use while stargazing. During the winter months, you can nestle by the fireplace or make s’mores in the chimeniea on the deck.
Enjoy dazzling sunsets, great fishing, and the serenity of the outdoors. Bring your boat or jet ski (rentals nearby) to explore the lake. Sunbathe, swim or float the day away.

Beautiful location. Easy two hours commute from DFW or Shreveport. Off I30, exit 146 Mount Vernon, the 8 miles. From Fort Worth, 161 Tollway now open avoiding 635 traffic.
All about nature. Simply beautiful.
Largest Boathouse available.
We needed a break and we found it here at Bob Sandlin. We had such a good time at this cabin. The kitchen had everything we needed, which is unusual for a rental property. Fishing is good around the dock. We used the Kayaks to explore the cove. We had so much fun and will return sometime.
Thank you for providing a great home for us to spend s great vacation. We did not need a thing other than our food. The house is decorated beautifully and was very comfortable and inviting. We all spent the majority of our time on the beautiful boat dock catching lots of fish 😋 and eating them. Our boys enjoyed swimming from the dock also. Our neighbors were very nice and helpful and we appreciated them so much. We can't wait to get back to heaven on earth.
Thanks again, Mike ,Sharon,Joan,Cameron , Gerald. 😎
My friends and I enjoyed our stay so much. Very nicely decorated and had all the comforts of home, but with a beautiful view of the lake. We spent most of our time on the boathouse and outside on the porch. The property is very well maintained both inside and out with plenty of little spots to hang out. This place doesn't give you any choice but to relax and enjoy the peaceful setting. We will definitely be back!
First, there are many good things about this rental including the fun campy log cabin and decor, the big porch, access to the lake and well-stocked kitchen as well as comfortable beds and good shower facilities. The washer and dryer work great and came in handy. I can only give it 3 stars as there are some drawbacks and I felt the cost to value ratio was a little too high. The porch and dock have items that are worn and need replacing. I expected newer and better condition for the price. The cabin was too small for our group, which included my husband, me, two grown daughters and two grandchildren. I think it's ideal for up to four alduts, in my opinion. A warning to those with older children: there are several wall hangings that are suggestive and that may not be appropriate for families.
Our group has stayed at the Lake House for our annual girls weekend for the last four years. We LOVE IT! The house is beautiful and the boat house/dock is the BEST on the lake! We spend the majority of our time each year sitting at the table on the dock enjoying the cool breeze on the water. The home is clean and well stocked so that all we have to bring is our food! The owners are great to work with and take good care of their lake home! We can't imagine staying anywhere else and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great, relaxing weekend at the lake! You won't be disappointed!
My Family stayed at the property and enjoyed our stay very much. Great boat dock, beautiful lot and well maintained house. The owner was very responsive. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
