About this property

Summerfell 4BR Oak Island Beach House, Sleeps 9, Screened Game Room + Dogs

Summerfell is a 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath beach house on Oak Island, built for families who actually want to spend time together — and for the moments when everyone needs their own space. There's room for the whole crew: a king master suite, a queen room, a twin room for the kids, and a bunk room downstairs for the older ones who want independence. Sleeps 8–9.

The real highlight?
Three screened porches and a full screened outdoor recreation area with couches, a mounted TV, and a ping pong table — all screened in so you can enjoy evenings outside without the bugs. Add a fenced yard, a grill, and a half-mile walk to the beach, and you've got a week where nobody asks "what are we doing today?"

THE HOUSE
Summerfell sleeps 8–9 guests across four bedrooms on two levels.
The master bedroom has a king bed, a walk-in closet, and its own walk-in bathroom — a proper retreat for the adults who need one. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third has two twins — these two share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom between them. Downstairs, there's a fourth bedroom with a full/twin bunk bed, a half bathroom, and its own entrance to the outdoor space. It's the room teenagers or older kids will fight over.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking real meals (not just reheating takeout). There's a dining area and a bar for the inevitable post-beach grazing.

THE OUTDOOR SPACES
Three screened porches and a full screened outdoor recreation area. The rec area has couches and lounge chairs, a mounted TV for movie nights, and a ping pong table. All screened, so you can be outside from morning to night without dealing with mosquitoes.

Out back, there's a fenced yard (great for dogs and kids), a gas grill for cookouts, and an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand before you come inside.

THE BEACH
Oak Island's beach is a half-mile walk from the house — about 13 minutes on foot with the beach chairs. We're not beachfront, but it's an easy walk on flat ground, and the upside is a quiet residential street instead of beach traffic at your front door. Oak Island's beaches are wide, uncrowded, and nothing like the high-rise wall of Myrtle Beach. This is a real beach town.

WHO THIS HOUSE IS FOR
Summerfell books best with multi-generational families (grandparents in the king suite, parents in the queen room, kids scattered across the twins and bunks) and two-family trips where everyone wants to share a house but still have their own space. Four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and multiple screened outdoor areas mean people aren't tripping over each other.

Dogs are welcome too — up to two, with a pet fee. The fenced yard and outdoor shower make it easy.

BEDROOMS AT A GLANCE
Bedroom 1 (Master, main floor): King bed, walk-in closet, private walk-in ensuite bathroom.
Bedroom 2 (main floor): Queen bed. Shares Jack-and-Jill bathroom with Bedroom 3.
Bedroom 3 (main floor): Two twin beds. Shares Jack-and-Jill bathroom with Bedroom 2.
Bedroom 4 (basement): Full/twin bunk bed. Half bathroom (toilet + sink). Separate access to outdoor space.

ABOUT OAK ISLAND
Oak Island is one of the quieter NC barrier islands. It's south-facing, which means you get sunrises over the Atlantic and sunsets over the Intracoastal Waterway from the same island. There are no high-rises, no boardwalk arcade scene — just 10+ miles of wide beach, two fishing piers, local seafood restaurants, and the kind of small-town feel that bigger beach towns lost a long time ago.

It's also the home of the NC 4th of July Festival — one of the oldest in the state, with 50,000+ people — if that's your thing.

GOOD TO KNOW
Beach distance: about a half-mile walk (13 minutes) on flat ground. Easy even with a wagon of beach gear.

Dogs: Up to 2 welcome with a pet fee. Oak Island allows dogs on the beach year-round (leashed in summer, off-leash October 15 – March 15). The Salty Dog Park at Bill Smith Park is nearby.

Check-in: 4:00 PM. Check-out: 10:00 AM.
Parking: Dedicated parking for 2+ vehicles. No street parking hassles.
Groceries: Food Lion and Lowe's Foods are both a short drive. If you're arriving late, ask us for the list of what's stocked in the kitchen.
Traveling with little ones: A pack-n-play and high chair are both available — just let us know and they'll be set up when you arrive.
TVs: No paid streaming subscriptions on the house accounts, but every TV supports AirPlay and Google Cast, and HDMI cables are on hand. Sign in to your own Netflix, Disney+, etc., or cast from your phone.

Summerfell Perfection

We stayed for a week at Summerfell and fell in love with the house and the island! Karen our host was beyond accommodating and the amenities at this perfect coastal house were outstanding! 4 screened porches - our favorite the large ground floor with large flat screen. We loved how quiet the evenings were and how our location was accessible to the whole island!

We are a family with kids and dogs - just like you. We bought summerfell after we fell in love with the beach life, and want to share it with others.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with OKI back when we first visited with our kids. Why this house? Why this location? Simple - this is where we want to be. A house setup like a place to live, and not a "designed for rental" amenities. It's close to the beach, but without the beachfront traffic, and with a quiet, tree'd and shaded yard that provides simple access to the amenities on the island, and the bridge to get on an off the island. It's the perfect blend.

What makes this property unique

This house was built as a place to live - and it's setup like it. It's not a "built to rent" - and it shows. It's very comfortable, private, shaded, and setup with lots of spots to enjoy nature. Take your coffee on the back patio amongst the trees. Sit out in the front porch at night by the fire and listen to the ocean, or spend your Saturday down in the screened rec room cheering for your favorite team. It's got a room for everyone.
