About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

This canal house on the Prinsengracht (100 square meters more than 1,000 square feed) is completely renovated. We bought the apartment six years ago and everything is new. As our apartment is located at a corner, there are 7 big windows overlooking the cannels which makes the apartment unique!

The apartment contains:

- Spacious master bedroom including bathroom (with bath, shower and toilet)

- Bedroom with two single beds that can be put next to each other including bathroom (with shower)

- Open kitchen

- Spacious living room including high def. TV

- Separate toilet

- Fireplace

- New beds and furniture

- Wireless unlimited internet

- New modern kitchen with everything you need including American fridge

- Wooden floors

- Double glazed windows (although you you don't need it because it's a quit area)

- Washing machine / dryer

- Towels, sheets, dishes etc.

- Nespresso coffee machine

Our apartment is in the centre of Amsterdam on the South part of the canals near the 'Spiegelgracht' where all the art galleries are.

It is located 2 minutes from the 'Leidseplein';

The 'Leidseplein is very crowded both throughout the day and night. When the sun is shining, the terraces quickly become filled. Street performers entertain the public, with acrobatic acts and music. At night the crowd changes: Amsterdammers go out here to celebrate, and to visit the theatres, cinemas and clubs. It is also possible to rent bikes at the Leidseplein, which you can store in our bicycle room.

On February 1, 1999, the Dutch government decided to qualify the inner city, the canals of Amsterdam, as a monument, a protected inner city view. The girdle of canals (ranging from the Singel Canal up to the Prinsengracht Canal) is a historically important part of this region, and it is one of the city's most attractive sights.

The girdle of canals starts at River Amstel and ends at Brouwersgracht. One third of the houses along the canals (grachtenhuizen) were built before 1850. During the 17th Century the city extended its boundaries, and canals were shaped in a girdle around the oldest part of Amsterdam to accommodate wealthy tradesmen and burghers. First the Singel Canal was dug out, then the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and, last of all, Prinsengracht.

Perfect Escape

  • 5 of 5

Our family of three were fortunate enough to be able stay in this wonderful apartment on the canal. It was just perfect. We spent nearly a week and walked everywhere. The location could not have been any better. The apartment far exceeded our expectations. The unit was so comfortable, well decorated and provided every amenity imaginable. I am hesitant to recommend to other guests, because we want to come back and would hope it would not be booked. It was a perfect escape.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is in the heart of Amsterdam on the Prinsengracht Canal. Very comfortable overall. Good beds, spacious bathrooms, the kitchen had all you need and super clean. The view of the canal is beautiful. It was fun to watch the bikes and people.

You have an excellent restaurant right next door. buffet von Odette. Super convenient and great food.

Our host, Cazjin, welcomed us and explained the layout of the apartment.

Fabulous Amsterdam holiday.

Fabulous apartment on Prinsengracht, Amsterdam

  • 5 of 5

The two bedroomed apartment was very spacious and tastefully decorated. In itself it is a nice space to be but add to that its location in the heart of Amsterdam and it is worth every penny/Euro. We had the unexpected but added bonus of the Gay Pride week canal parade passing below us. This took 4 hours to pass but we watched it from the comfort of our second storey windows. As soon as you go out the door you are walking along the canals and 30 seconds from the nearest bar/café. One minute (walking) away are some antique shops. 5 minutes away, the Rijksmuseum and 10/15 minutes (walking) away Dam Square. If we came to Amsterdam again we would definitely try to rebook this apartment. Thank you Cazjin.

Perfect location - great apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was perfect. It's located close to everything and looking at on the Prinsengracht canal, which provided hours of entertainment. The only concerns - two flights of very steep stairs (but the views from the apartment are worth it) and some street/restaurant noise. Overall would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends or family.

Canal Apartment

  • 5 of 5

Great apartment!! Great location close to museums and central Amsterdam. Walked every where we wanted to go. We especially enjoyed sitting in the front window watching all the activity on the Prinsegrscht canal. The pictures accurately show the apartment.

Location worth every penny. Comfortable accommodation and friendly hosts.

  • 5 of 5

Our vacation was greatly enhanced by our accommodation in this apartment. It is probably the most central and beautiful location in Amsterdam. The canal view was wonderful, and we enjoyed wide open windows and watched the variety of boats sliding by as they cruised the canal. We could walk within a block or two to every city amenity; The trams, grocery stores, bank ATM, pharmacy, restaurants, bars, and many many stores. The neighborhood feels totally residential, and cozy. We were struck by the quiet in Amsterdam. Due to the electric trams, the electric motors on the boats, and all the bikes, car noise in general is minimal. We could hear some late night conversations from the restaurant below, but we were sleeping with the windows open due to an unusual heat wave. Nonetheless, we were not disturbed and were very comfortable.

As for the apartment itself, the two flights of stairs are steep and do curve, but speaking as an overweight, out of shape individual, I didn't find them too difficult! After a day or two, it was no issue at all. The high ceilings, beautiful decor and updated kitchen and bathrooms are what you would expect in any fine hotel. The beds were soft and comfortable, the closets ample, and we never ran out of hot water. The fridge is large, and has ice and water in the door. The dishwasher is very quiet. It was great to have a washer / dryer on hand. The set up is that the master has an ensuite full bath with a tub/ shower combination. The second bedroom has an ensuite shower room/ sink (though there is no door to close it off from the bedroom, the closet door swings across the opening as a visual barrier, so privacy was not an issue) the second toilet is off the main entrance as a powder room with it's own sink. There is a hairdryer in the unit. The windows are fabulous and the apartment is a corner unit, so there is plenty of breeze in each room and into the whole apartment. There was also a standing fan. There is a privacy glass door that separates the hall and bedrooms from the main living/dining/kitchen space.

The owners were very responsive before we arrived, corresponding with me to answer questions, and then during our stay to arrange payment, and help with questions we had. We will return to Amsterdam and seek out this apartment to rent again in the future.
