Come vacation at Kahana Sunset, a quiet, lushly landscaped, beautiful resort on secluded Keone Nui Bay. Swim from our sandy beach, snorkel with turtles, enjoy spectacular sunsets, barbecue on our outdoor built-in gas grills—all without having to leave the complex! We are ideally tucked away between busy Lahaina and elegant Kapalua Bay, close to the action but removed from the crowds and noise. We are family-friendly with a children’s pool adjoined to the adult pool.

Our two-bedroom, two-bath townhouse style unit has direct ocean views from both lanais and inside. The kitchen has granite countertops, light colored wood cabinets, full sized fridge, full sized dishwasher, glass electric cooktop, microwave, and countertop convection oven. It comes fully stocked for cooking and entertaining. There is a washer/dryer in the unit with its own hot water heater. Covered parking is conveniently located right outside our door—no need to drag groceries or bags across parking lots, through lobbies, and up elevators! Our unit is ideal for families or couples as each bedroom has its own private bathroom.

Our family is excited to offer our condo to you. As San Diegans who have been traveling to Maui since 1980, we think this is the ideal spot to vacation. We've owned our unit since 2010. It has been remodeled in the past, and it will be newly remodeled in September 2017 with all stainless kitchen appliances, a new master bath vanity, new tile flooring on the main level, new ceiling fixtures, and new paint throughout. Look for updated photos this October.

About Liz Lindenfeld

We are a family of five from San Diego who absolutely love Maui. Michael and Liz have been visiting for more than thirty years and decided in 2010 it was finally time to buy! We love Hawaii's weather, culture, tropical beaches, hiking trails, and warm ocean. No trip to Maui is complete without scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, watching hula dancing, or dining on Hawaii's fabulous fresh fish. We named our condo 'Hale Kalela' after our three daughters, whose names translated into Hawaiian are Kelona, Lakela, and Kala.

Why Liz Lindenfeld chose West Maui

We have always loved West Maui for its lush, tropical landscape, its small coves and bays as well as long sandy beaches, the hustle and bustle of Lahaina with its sense of history along with its restaurants and shops, and in general, the whole feel of West Maui. Kahana Sunset had all the attributes we were looking for in a vacation home. The complex is fairly small, quiet, on a secluded sandy beach, has beautifully landscaped grounds, convenient parking, and easy access to nearby shops, restaurants, hiking, and other amenities.

What makes this condo unique

We enjoy being able to swim, snorkel, kayak, watch spectacular sunsets, barbecue, and just relax without ever having to leave our complex. We also love our spacious, comfortable, remodeled two-bedroom unit where we wake up to the views and sounds of the ocean, cook in our well-appointed and well-stocked kitchen, and relax inside or outside on our ocean view lanais. Finally, we enjoy being able to walk to nearby shops and restaurants.

Good space, nice rooms and great views! No AC was a bummer as it got very hot for a few days.

My family loved the property and our condo. It was spacious and clean. Nights were quiet and relaxing. Great view, easy access to the pool and beach. Our only disappointments were that the unit did not have AC (apparently some are "AC-capable" for an extra charge) and the pool temp was too warm. Sofa was also a bit abrasive after a long day in the sun. Also, a later checkout would have been nice so we could freshen up on our last day.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad our guest enjoyed our condo and complex, and I thank him for his overall positive review. Because he had some concerns that affected his stay, I'd like to address them here. I'm sorry the lack of AC was a problem, and I recognize that sometimes this can be an issue. Most units in our complex don't have AC, and those that do have it tend to be more expensive. Our lack of AC is posted on our listing and reflected in our nightly rate. I'm also sorry our guest found the pool too warm and the sofa uncomfortable. The pool is solar heated, so on warmer days, the pool tends to be warmer. Some guests prefer that, especially after a dip in the cool ocean, though others prefer the pool to be cooler as well. I guess it's a matter of personal taste. Regarding the sofa, it's a rather typical tropical style upholstered sofa-bed. The upholstery is textured, so I apologize if that made it feel a bit abrasive after a day of sun. Finally, regarding check-out time, the property management company we use, which provides housekeeping services for our condo, doesn't allow late check-out because there are just a few hours between check-out and the next check-in to get the unit ready for the next guest. Regardless, if guests have a flight later in the day, while they do need to vacate the condo by check-out time, it is always possible for them to stay at the complex as late as they desire and use the outdoor facilities (pool, grounds, beach, etc.). There are outdoor showers and restrooms by the pool where guests can freshen up. I hope these comments have been helpful, and please note that whenever I taking a booking, I always encourage guests to contact me at any point with their questions and concerns so that I can try to make their visit as enjoyable as possible.

The view is beautiful however the condo is in need of major updating

The owner was great to work with. The condo itself was a huge disappointment. We arrived and it was fairly warm. The ceiling fan in the living room barely works and there is NO a/c. The toaster oven that they stated they use as a oven was terrible and barely worked. The property management company brought us a tiny toaster (pointless) and let us know that the fan needed to be replaced at the owners approval. The fan was NOT replaced in the 9 days we were present. The owner stated in the description that you get a renovated condo for the un-renovated price. It has popcorn ceilings and the bathrooms are in need of major renovation. The couch and living room furniture are not relaxing after a day spent at the beach. We are a family of 4, I could hardly even imagine a party of 6 being able to fit. The kitchen table is old. If you are looking for nice units, the unit to the right and to the left are fully renovated and much nicer.

Owner's Response: I very much appreciate that my guest expressed confidence in working with me, but I'm sorry she was so unhappy with the unit. Let me try to address her concerns. Yes, there is no AC in our unit, but that fact is advertised in our listing. Many units at Kahana Sunset do not have AC, and guests that require AC seek out those units that do have it. I'm sorry she had issues with the living room ceiling fan. I thought I had corrected the problem and am surprised to find out I had not. Our property manager sent his handyman to check it out. He adjusted the speed on the wall switch and told me the fan was working fine once he adjusted it, which is why I didn't replace it. I didn't know there was still an issue. The guest pointed out several areas in the condo that need updating. This condo has been remodeled in stages over the years, with some portions more recently renovated than others. In light of that (which I mentioned in response to a comment I received this spring about the master bath vanity), we had already scheduled a significant renovation for this September. It includes removal of the popcorn ceilings, re-tiling of the floor on the main level, replacing all the kitchen appliances with new stainless ones, replacing the convection countertop oven with a new larger one, redoing the master bathroom vanity, replacing the ceiling fixtures (including the fans), replacing some of the older furniture with new pieces, and painting the unit throughout. We discounted our pre-renovation rental rate accordingly, and as advertised, we charged the price for completely unremodeled units in our complex. Once this new renovation is completed, the condo will be more similar to the neighboring units. Overall, most of our guests have been very happy with our unit. While it might not have been as fully updated as some of the others, guests have said they felt very pleased with the value they were receiving, especially considering the price, the view, the grounds, and the location. Again, I'm sorry this guest was unhappy. I strive to give my guests a wonderful experience, and I hope future guests will enjoy the newly refurbished unit beginning this fall.

Privet location yet close to the action!

The condo was very comfortable and clean. No AC but not needed due to large sliding doors down stairs as well as upstairs. Laundry in unit huge plus! Grocery store right up the street and great beaches Kapalua Bay and Napili Bay by far our favorite beach locations!!! You won't be disappointed with this unit!!!!

Best location and complex on the Island

This complex and location are by far the best on the Island.

The apartment was great for our needs and situated perfectly if you want to be watching whales and turtles as well as have within a few miles the best snorkeling on the Island.

The entire complex was extremely well taken care of. The BBQs and pool were cleaned every morning, the plants, trees, flowers, fresh herbs and fruit trees were all fantastic.

If you are a good snorkeler or have a SUP there is a beautiful reef 150 meters out front of the beach where you can see everything from small reef fish, turtles, stingrays, to reef variety sharks (no danger to humans).

The unit does not have A/C, but does not need it. It is directly fronting the ocean so winds come in the the balcony screen doors and keep the unit nice and cool in the evenings. ***A/C is usually a MUST for us! ***

It literally does not get any easier to enjoy Maui than staying here.
