About the property

Large house-Sleeps 12-14

Lewisia Lodge is a beautiful, cozy house, designed by local architect, Kurt Jacobsen, situated on 12 acres of one of the most beautiful pieces Methow Valley Riverfront. The property is all riverfront....and this section of the river includes one of the best swimming and fishing holes anywhere in the area. The house is perfect for families, small intimate gatherings of friends or large groups. We have also hosted several weddings on the property. The house sleeps 12, (14 if you count the outdoor sleeping porch--which by the way, is fabulous), and the open layout is perfect for a lot of people to relax comfortably. The upstairs loft sleeps 10 people comfortably. It is separated into 2 large semi-private sections. In each section, there is one queen bed and 2 twins on one side and 3 twins on the other. On the property, overlooking the swimming and fishing hole, there is a gazebo (with a small kitchen and queen bed) and deck built right out over the river for lounging, entertaining and cocktails. Just below the gazebo is a perfect place to tube the river. We have some inner tubes in the barn. The house is surrounded on all sides by decks and in front of the house, right on the river, is a huge, beautifully mowed lawn for playing games like volleyball, croquet and soccer. (The house is fully stocked with games for the outdoors and board games and movies for cozy winter nights.) It is filled with cozy spots (2 big window seats) to cozy up on, and the focal point of the living room is a huge, beautiful stone fireplace. The house is fully stocked with wood and kindling. In the winter, the area is covered in ample snow and you can ski or snowshoe right out your front door. This is one of the most charming places you will ever stay. It is designed for total peace and serenity, and the views from the house are spectacular.

Please, if you are looking for a place to party hard and get crazy, please do not come here. This is a home for peace and serenity.

About Jill Hansen

I have owned the house since 2000. It was designed and built by my father (in 1992) who was a well known architect in the area. It is a true gem...cozy, yet roomy and beautiful. The property has been in my family for 30 years and it is one of the prettiest pieces in the area.

Jill Hansen purchased this house in 2000

Why Jill Hansen chose North Central Cascades

The Methow Valley has over 300 miles of groomed ski is one of the best (if not the best) destination spots in the country for cross country skiing. The hiking is some of the most spectacular in Washington state, and all the hikes are just a few miles away from the house. The mountain biking is phemonmenal as well. The house is stocked with hiking/skiing/biking guides to help you navigate the area. People come from all over to fly fish on the Methow River. Steelhead season is especially amazing. There is hot air ballooning, horseback riding, rafting, kayaking, tubing on the river, snow mobiling, and heli-skiing. If you love the outdoors, you just won't find an area that has more recreational activities, all seasons of the year, in such an amazingly beautiful environment.

What makes this house unique

The house is located almost evenly between the towns of Winthrop and Twisp (4.4 miles from each.) Both are charming little towns with great shopping and restaurants, and 2 amazing brew pubs with locally brewed beer and live music on the weekends.

This place is amazing. The peaceful energy and spaciousness of the grounds allowed us to have the most relaxing week ever. It was a fun, happy getaway with our fur babies. We will definitely return!

Charming cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was a great spot for our summer adventures. The home was outfitted with all the necessary amenities and an exceptional spice cabinet. We enjoyed the provision of games and movies for a break from tubing the river and swimming in the watering hole. It was a delight!

Perfect get away for us!

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of people from San Juan Island who like to camp together. This trip we decided to try a house. It was a perfect match! The kitchen and dining area were great for sharing the cooking and group meals. The wrap around porch held lots of tucked away spots for smaller conversations. In the evening all of us could gather for the campfire on the riverbank. The setting is beautiful. The house feels warm and accommodating. Everything was there waiting for us. We have already booked for next year.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We were in Winthrop on a snowmobile trip. Snowparks aren't super close to the cabin but we didn't mind the short drive. The cabin was absolutely perfect for our group, we loved the layout. There was plenty of room for everyone and we didn't feel like we were stepping on each other. It had everything we needed to feel at home, and, as mentioned in other reviews, we loved that we could close the doors to the kitchen so the early risers weren't waking everyone else up. The view of the river is fantastic and we enjoyed watching the deer that frequented the river and even had some up close to the porch. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!
