You've never seen anything like it. Let's start with the house; an eccentric, artistic, retrofit of a barn and a standing vernacular home connected by a greenhouse/hot tub room that makes you feel cozy and in the middle of the wilderness at the same time. Artisan touches include exquisitely carved beams, functional metal sculpture, a 'wildstyle' fireplace and hearth, a spiral staircase picketed with apple and pear limbs, an outdoor swinging bed (the dream machine), and other details too numerous to mention.
Summer or winter the gathering spot is the huge kitchen/dining/living room area where kids can play, adults cook, and slackers can pull books off the well stocked shelves and ride the plush couches or comfy chairs. In summer you'll move out from there to the giant wrap around decks complete with two hanging beds, for cocktails and river viewing. And in winter you'll retreat the opposite direction to the Fred Flintstone hot tub room for a soak in the unique hot tub.
Upstairs find a sleeping loft furnished with a queen sized bed and two twin beds in an very cozy alcove. Open the window in the summer and let the sound of the river take you down, down down... The master bed and bathroom are also on this floor, both airy and oversized, with a star gazing deck perched off the bedroom. The bath is equipped with a steam room and his and her sinks. There is also a bunk room adjacent to the master but not separated by a door.
Down the back stairs there is a bedroom furnished with a queen sized bed and another bedroom with a queen and a set of bunks. Both are paneled in warm pine finished the old Scandinavian way- sans trim. Beautiful! The downstairs bedrooms share a bath equipped with a 6' claw foot tub accessorized with shower hardware. The floor is limestone pavers which feel great in bare feet- especially in winter when the hydronic heat warms them. Downstairs further is a T.V. room with a large sectional which can serve as two twins and a twin futon couch . On the porch are two hanging beds, the most sought after cribs in the summer. We have slept six (kids) on the king sized bed. It has magnificent views of mountains by day and stars by night. The other bed is a full and has a view of the river!
In Summer slip out the back door to explore the Magical Methow. The property stretches along 1500' of riverfront with many shady nooks to view wildlife from (you will see many many deer, otters, and various other critters here) or write in that journal you've always promised yourself you'd be attending to. And fishermen- seize the day! This stretch of the Methow has a huge population of rainbows, cutthroats, and, in the fall of the year, steelhead. Flies only please! In winter you can traipse along these same byways with only the hush of the river and shush of your skis to accompany you. Birdwatchers also take note- the Methow Conservancy surveyed the property and found the highest concentration of migrating songbirds in the entire valley here.
If your objective is sheer relaxation, wander no further than the paradisical pond, complete with huge decks, a gazebo, and a pure sand beach, that lies to the north of the house. The olympic size trampoline pretty much provides for the kids all day entertainment.
Also, if this house isnt big enough for you we have another house next door with a pool, jacuzzi and four bedrooms.

- Large house, lots of sleeping room, lots of room to move around in.
- Large well equipped kitchen.
- Great views of the mountain.
- Large yard for pets and children to play around in.
- Pond was dirty.
- Not much instruction left by Peter. We didn't really know what to expect in terms of supplies, and instructions for check in/out. We also didn't know how to operate the jacuzzi properly.
- Sprinklers were on often and during hours we wanted to be in the yard.
All in all it is a wonderful place for large groups, and although we had some small issues, it was not enough to detract from the overall experience.
I feel so lucky to have been told about this space. I was celebrating a milestone birthday with a special gathering of people and this setting was so integral to how lovely the weekend was. We could all feel how much love had been put into this home and property and it infused the whole event. Thank you, Peter!
We rented Peter's place for a group of 20 to celebrate my fiance's birthday, and it was fantastic! The place is much cooler than is depicted in the photos, and even has a hot-tub in the foyer.
-Very spacious, more than enough room for the 20 people that came
-Fun space - the home is massive and there are all kinds of cool, custom design details
-Enormous kitchen and living space for mingling
-Great location - just outside of town so you definitely feel like you're in the country, but close enough to all of the amenities in the valley
-Owner is responsive - generally within 24 hours
-Unless the information was in a place I was unaware of, I needed to ask a ton of questions to ensure we had our logisitcs covered (how do we get into the house, what do we do with the keys when we leave, does the TV have an HDMI connection, are there towels and bedding for everyone, etc.) - I think Peter would benefit having a standard email he writes up that has all of these details.
-House could have been better stocked - some bathrooms were out of hand soap, and we ran out of paper towels on the first day
All told we had a great time and I'm happy to overlook the "downsides" given the the experience on the whole was amazing.
The setting is beautiful. This house is quirky and a true delight to the eye. 'Did you see...(some wonderful detail) was a common refrain. Lots of love and craftsmanship built this house.
It is also a study in contrasts: high end appliances & pots 'n pans but not enough silverware, slate floors and warm woodwork but missing outlet covers and a clogged shower head. There are no directions, and that could drive some people nuts. But, the owner answered our texts promptly and was very pleasant. The sunken hot tub in the solarium was so much fun. The pool/pond was frozen enough for ice skating. More fun. This place would be wonderful in summer.
We had a wonderful time, lots of spaces for socializing. The best house ever for hide and seek. I recommend this house for all but crawling babies or toddlers.
very cool house, beautiful setting. everything's not finished & perfect, but super creative and fun place to be. we'll be returning again soon!
This house is really unique. Its beautiful and you can tell a lot of the work was done in the DIY fashion. Our favorite room is right in the center of the home and has tons of natural light due to the windows wrapping from the wall to the ceiling. It has plenty of beds for a large group too.
The house wasn't perfect, there were some stains upstairs on the carpet and a cabinet in the kitchen was off the hinges. I see this as a positive honestly because I didn't feel the need to "walk on eggshells" while staying there. Everything that needed to be functional was perfectly fine and we were super happy with the stay.
The view of the mountains is gorgeous and there are literally "beds" on the porch hanging from the ceiling from big chains that you can lounge on and soak in the view and the crisp air.
I am looking forward to coming back and would recommend this to anyone with a big group.
The Methow has ample and varied opportunities for outdoor activities. Call us and we can discuss.

Most of the parties renting this house are large. If you have a smaller party, we can close off the two back bedrooms which are, in fact a separate mother in law unit. Price for smaller parties may be negotiable depending on season.
