Spectacular, Kaanapali, The Whaler, 2BR/2BA Condominium

The Whaler is a tranquil retreat in the center of the active Kaanapali beach area which has great restaurants, shopping, snorkeling, and surfing, all an easy walk down the boardwalk. The Whaler property consists of two, 12 story condominium towers, which provide great morning shade on the perfect stretch of beach and a great venue for enjoying the incredible Maui sunsets.

Next door at Whaler’s village you can enjoy boutique shopping, ice cream, a great meal or even an evening hula show. There is also a trolley from the village which will take you into near by Lahina Front Street for more adventures.

The unit is on the 10th floor; from the wrap around Lanai you will encounter breathtaking views of the West Maui Mountains with frequent rainbow displays as well as the majestic ocean and neighboring Lanai Island.

The recently remodeled unit is extremely spacious with 2 large bedrooms with king beds each opening to the lanai, a sofabed in the living room, and a roll away in the room. There is plenty of dinning space if you are not out enjoying your meal on the lanai. Each room has a TV and wireless is available. (3 total TV's with Cable)

This unit is the perfect place to experience all that Maui has to offer.


Resort fee inclusive of parking, towels, Access to tennis courts (balls and racquets available at desk) beach chairs is $40 per day and paid directly to the Whaler upon checkout.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. We have stayed at the Whaler on a previous trip and on the Kaanapali Beach stretch numerous times because of the unique area with views hard to beat and shopping/eating close. This property was large enough for our family and had views of the ocean AND the beautiful Maui mountains. Parking was plentiful and property gorgeous and well kept. The owner was gracious and answered any questions that we had. Definitely a wonderful place to stay and make memories.

Fantastic condo stay!!!

My husband/I and 3 younger children recently stayed in this gorgeous 10th floor corner unit. We've always stayed at a hotel nearby but this condo was so perfect - will only stay here on return visits. Decor awesome; communication w/owner and Whaler staff exceptional; super clean; immaculate/gorgeous/quiet resort; heated pool; fantastic price - really this condo has it all!!

Simply Fabulous

Loved the condo and the location in the heart of Kanapali beach. Condo is updated and kitchen is stocked! Perfect for us! The Lanai is fabulous - lots of chairs and tables along with a chaise. Beach chairs, cooler and umbrella available in the condo along with 2 boogie boards and some noodles. It was very windy on the beach the week we were here so couldn’t use the umbrella so we just used beach chairs provided by the whaler down by the pool! Quick walk to Black Rock and was lovely being right next to the Whaler Village shops and restaurants. Quick 10-15 to Lahaina and the Safeway. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Jon!!! Jon was very responsive and helpful. Oh and WiFi in condo and by the pool was appreciated by my teens and this working mom.

Beautiful condo

The Whaler is a lovely property. Not a giant mega resort, which makes it easy, and not so crowded. Yet it still has all the amenities you could need, including beautifully kept grounds with a pretty koi pond, a nice pool, easy beachfront access, towel service, and all the walkability of the Kaanapali beach walkway, including being right next door to Whaler’s Village. The condo itself is beautiful, clean and spacious. Perfect for a family, especially having two bedrooms, two bathrooms, washer & dryer, and a full kitchen stocked with all the necessary supplies (appliances, plates, utensils, cups, etc.). The wrap around lanai is gorgeous, with views of the ocean and the mountains. The property owner was very communicative and a pleasure to work with. Check in and check out at the front desk were easy. Parking was included, and also easy. We would definitely stay there again.

This is a great condo! It is nicely decorated, clean, quiet, and such a wonderful view! This is our second stay in this condo & we plan to stay here when we return to Maui.

The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach

Decided to join our daughter on a rather spontaneous trip to Maui. Normally we stay in Wailea and go in the fall. We were concerned it might be too crowded but we were pleasantly surprised it wasn't bad. Haven’t stayed at the Whaler since the late 70’s and really kept my expectations low. We were thrilled with the huge remodeled corner unit with a massive balcony and views of both the mountains and beach. Glad to be in Tower 1 with regards to the shade when sitting on balcony. We took advantage of most amenities, pickle ball, Gym, pool. The unit did provide beach umbrellas and chairs, which we used daily. The proximity to Whalers Village was convenient. The grounds are beautiful, clean and impeccably kept. Great stay. 🌴

Beachfront Resort Vacation at The Whaler

Great property with excellent views. The wraparound lanai was great no matter what time of day. Beds are comfortable and condo had everything we needed, including beach chairs and toys. The kitchen has all the utensils needed, some you just need to look for. The sleeper sofa is comfy and the rollaway bed came in handy too. The living room has a great TV for movie nights and the dining table is perfect for games. The resort towel process was great, as we always had fresh to use. The pool is perfectly situated, and a great place to be at sunset. Hopefully COVID capacity restrictions end soon, so restaurants are easier to get into. Almost impossible to get reservations at the nice places. We were lucky and when we were told the waitlist was over 2 hours, it was usually more like 1 hour. Several places had suspended their happy hour too, so we couldn’t count on that. We had many more food truck meals than planned, but at least everyone could find what they like. We did Hula Grill next door twice, once at sunset (well worth it). Black rock was a little disappointing for most of our visit (only a 5.5 on snorkel report). We drove a few minutes up the coast to beaches rated 8.5, and had amazing snorkeling. Overall I highly recommend Jon’s place for your vacation in Maui.

This unit has mountain and ocean views, is spacious, has everything you need in the kitchen, is well decorated, and in a central location of Kaanapali. Our family will definitely stay here again!

A Great Stay

I have stayed at the Whaler several times. This unit is updated and exceptionally clean with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Spacious wrap around decks for ocean or mountain views and enjoying your morning coffee. The Whaler is a well maintained property with helpful staff and great location on Kaanapali beach.

Summer vacation

Paradise, amazing property!

We loved our week long stay here! The place was very clean and spacious. The lanai was huge and there is access to it off of each room with views of the mountains on one side and ocean on the other. It had everything we needed, also there were boogie boards, a cooler, beach chairs, beach umbrellas etc... The property itself was very beautiful and very well maintained with the Koi pond, pool and beautiful, clean beach right out front. Right next to it is Whaler's village where there are tons of shopping and dining choices. We could have not asked for a better place and location to stay while we were in Maui! The owner, Jon Hamel was very accommodating, he answered all my questions in a very timely manner and was a pleasure to deal with. If and when we return to Maui I would choose this place over any other, we were very blessed to find this little piece of paradise. Staying here made our vacation even more enjoyable, if that's possible!

Wonderful Maui vacation!

We shared this unit with another couple and had plenty of room for everyone. Both Bedrooms are big and have balcony views. Unit was well equipped. Plenty of TV's for everyone. The lanai had a sweeping view from ocean to mountains, just breathtaking. Really enjoyed having coffee in the morning enjoying the spectacular view! A Week in Paradise

This beautiful condo was very comfortable for our family of six. It is stylish, well planned, and practical. The view is very nice. The grounds are peaceful & captivating. The kids found the Koi pond fascinating (so did I). The pool is great & kid friendly, and then there's the beach! Ka'anapali is wonderful. We can't think of a better place to be or to stay.

We had a wonderful family vacation in Maui, staying at The Whaler. All of our expectations were exceeded! The condo was perfect for our family of 8. Beautiful views and only 2 minutes to the ocean The kitchen was equipped with all the right things to make our stay easy. Jon was quick to respond to any needs or questions and gave us some excellent tips. We are hoping to return and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Lovely property, GREAT view, AWESOME space, lots of toys!

Walking into Jon's apartment felt very relaxing. The furniture is comfortable and well placed. The beds were also extremely comfortable for my back and I had no complaints from the other guests. This is a perfect place for a family to come and visit. We did allot of hiking while there as well as the para-sailing. O, and for those busy moms, there is also a washer and dryer. Thank you Mr. Jon, for allowing us to stay in your beautiful space!!! Lots of sweet memories! Mary Ann McDermott

Amazing Kaanapali Condo !!!

Just wanted to say we just returned from 10 wonderful relaxing days at this condo. The owner Jon was super professional and was a very smooth transaction. He answered all my emails very promptly and the check in to condo was quick and easy. We had a family of 5 which included two teenagers and we had plenty of privacy for everybody . The condo was very clean and well stocked . We loved sitting out on the Lanai every morning and evening enjoying all the sunsets and just in aww at how beautiful the ocean was from the Lanai. We loved the location and the convienace of just being able to walk to dinner at Whalers Village that was a plus!!! We would defiantly rent this condo again in the future !!!

Expectations exceeded!

WOW! Very spacious corner unit with plenty of room inside and outside on the deck for our family of 6. Tastefully decorated and updated interior. Beautiful Maui mountain view as well as the courtyard and beachfront. The Whaler Condo property is so well located to everything it is rarely necessary to drive anywhere. Having the pool and the beach right in front was perfect. It would hard for us to stay anywhere else when coming back to Maui.

Beautiful condo in beautiful location!

Our family (4 adults) had a vacation to remember on Maui. This condo is spacious and well located in the complex. The bedrooms were quite large with updated bathrooms for each. Each bedroom was attached to the L-shaped spacious lanai. The lanai itself had plenty of seating areas to eat and/or relax with spectacular views of the both the beach and mountains. Beach toys were supplied. The kitchen was updated with great appliances and an unbelievable amount of dishes, glasses, utensils, and small appliances as well as pots and pans. At the end of each day we would just sit out on the lanai and relax and discuss the next day's adventure. The complex is close to all sorts of shopping and restaurants. A great spa is also located in the complex as well. Find time for a massage!

An Awesome Condo!

This condo was absolutely perfect! My family which included two teenage boys, stayed here in late July 2013. The condo had all the amenities of home: extremely spacious, comfortable furniture, beautifully remodeled baths and kitchen with granite and new stainless steel appliances, very comfortable beds with lots of pillows (I sleep with 6 pillows myself) , washer/dryer, all the kitchen appliances you could ask for, walls of windows on all sides, hair dryer and safe. Who would want an ocean front when you can get the views of this condo from the wrap around lanai? The West Maui mountains and view of Ka'anapali on one side with the ocean and courtyard including the Koi Pond on the other side were beautiful. The owner was a dream to work with. He left us a CD of the Road to Hana, boogie boards, ice chest, beach chairs and umbrella, as well as recommendations on restaurants and activities. A tropical storm hit the island while we were there and he called to make sure we were alright and didn't need anything. The Whaler complex is very safe and located next to Whalers Village (shopping center/restaurants). I felt comfortable letting the teens go exploring on their own at the beach, Black Rock (just down the beach) and Whaler Village. It was great that we were able to let them walk over and grab a pizza on the tropical storm night. If I return to Maui, I will definitely stay in this condo again.

Beautiful Condo in Kaanapali

Spectacular is a great description of this beautiful condo right on Kaanapali Beach. Very spacious, modern condo with all the ammentities of being at home. Down the elevator and a short path right to the pristine Kaanapali Beach. After playing at the beach my kids loved the refreshing pool as we sat close by and watched them. The views are amazing from the beach to the mountains behind. We also loved sitting out on the spacious lanai. Very convenient location to many restaurants and shopping in Whaler's Village. We will be back to this perfect spot!

Great condo in perfect location

We stayed in 1023 at Whaler's from July 22 thru Aug 2, 2012, and loved it. The place was very clean and spacious, with terrific views of the ocean and the mountains from the wrap-around balcony. The beautiful kitchen had everything one would need for breakfast, lunch or dinnner. We stocked up a few times at the Safeway up the road, but mainly just used it for breakfast. The living area and bedrooms were ideal for our family of five and the owner was the perfect host, happily answering questions and checking in with us to make sure we had directions, access codes, and tips for our stay. Housekeeping was available on request, and the attendants at the rental facility near the pool and beach were extremely nice. Whaler's is of course perfectly located on one of the best beaches in the world. A right turn as you walk towards the beach takes you to Black Rock snorkling in five minutes; a left turn takes you to Whaler's Village shopping and some pretty decent restuarants along the beach promenade. Lahaina is a five minute drive away. Highly recommended!

Amazing location and a Fabulous 2 bedroom Condo!

We spent 9 days in this amazing 2 bedroom condo. We found the condo to be in a great location for all activities Maui has to offer. Black rock was less than a 5 minute walk where we were able to snorkel with turtles. The Whaler Village was right next door so we were able to to enjoy meals out, pick up sundries and shop without having to drive. The beach out front was amazing and we never had an issue finding a chair at the pool. The condo itself was huge with an amazing Lanai (over 500 square feet) with views of the West Maui mountains, the Koi pond, Kaanapali beach and Lanai. We ate breakfast out there every morning. The kitchen has recently been redone and was fully stocked with more than ample amounts of glasses, plates, silverware and appliances. The unit has 2 large bathrooms that were clean and functional but could eventually use some updating. All the construction has been completed and the results are amazing with beautiful gardens and a Koi pond between the towers. The owner was very easy to work with and was always available to answer any questions. We found the unit exceeded our expectations and would stay there again.

A great condo in a great location!

Kaanapali is in the middle of it all, and this Whaler condo is in the middle of Kaanapali. The condo is a very large 2 bedroom with oversized rooms. The corner unit has a wrap around balcony that provides views of both the beach and the lush mountains. We ate nearly every meal outside listenig to the waves crash to our right, while enjoying the ever present rainbows to our left. If you haven't been to Kaanapali, you can find great snorkeling around black rock a few 100 yards down the beach to the right and find a surf spot at the other end of the beach. In between is the perfect beach. We also spent a fair amount of time in the beautiful pool. If you need a large two bedroom walkable to nealry everything that make Maui Maui. This is the perfect condo for you.

Amazing Property!!!

My wife and I stayed there last may with some friends and it was amazing!!! The property was very spacious with an open floor plan. All of the rooms were enormous! There was plenty of space for everyone. The Whaler property is exceptionally put together and very welcoming. Whether hanging out by the pool or the beautiful sand beaches it is top quality all the way! The view was truly breathtaking!! It seemed like you could see forever! You could see the beautiful mountains, the golf course, Lahaina and more importantly what we all go to Maui for... the OCEAN!!! Ocean as far as you can see! This condo will definitely take your maui visit to the next level! Enjoy breakfast on the spacious patio or a candlelight dinner or maybe just take in the sun in your own privacy. This condo has it all! You will not be disappointed!!!
