Historic Cozy Parkside Cottage in Savannah

This darling historic cottage is located in the desirable Parkside area of Savannah. Built in 1925, Parkside Cottage is located one block from the largest park in Savannah, Daffin Park, which is home to Grayson Stadium and the Savannah Bananas Baseball Team. Parkside Cottage is approximately one mile from the Whole Foods shopping center, Home Depot, and Target. It is located one mile from Memorial Hospital and two miles from Candler Hospital.

The house is located two miles from downtown Savannah and the Historic district where you will find Ghost tours, a buzzing restaurant district, a wide variety of bars, historic homes to tour, and great local shopping.

A few things to note: there are two outdoor security cameras on the property. One is at the front door (doorbell cam) and the other is in the backyard overlooking the yard and the back of the house. There is also a security system in the home. I'm happy to provide you with the code and show you how to use it upon check-in. There has never been an issue with theft or a break in at Parkside Cottage since I've owned the home, but I wanted a security system.

Another thing, there is covered, gated RV parking on the property if you'd like to use it for that for an extra charge. No hookup to water or power, however.

All utilities are included in the monthly rent, but anything over $250 is your responsibility.

We had a lovely stay here for a girls/sister trip. The location was great! We were able to listen to the Savannah Bananas play from the front yard. We were within short driving distance to the historic area and River St, 25 min from Tybee Island. The communication with the hostess was excellent! She provided great recommendations and met us at the house for check in. Would definitely choose to stay here again.

Host was extremely friendly and welcoming, gave me a good orientation to the house. House was well equipped and very clean. Sheets and towels plentiful and of good quality. Kitchen was sufficient lacking only a dishwasher but short on counter space. Living room and dining room were inviting and comfortable for the five of us. Backyard was pleasant to sit in and provided a convenient place to sit with my dog. Washer and dryer are in a shed in backyard, not inconvenient, just unexpected. House is really old but fully updated. Still, a few quirks remain: uneven floors, oddly placed light switches, animals living under house or in walls, master bath very cold unless you turn on extra heater.

The hosts were very kind and responsive. They showed us all around and told us how to work various things such as heat/cool, etc. The property is in a residential area about 5-10 minutes from historic district downtown. Definitely felt safe. Parking in driveway. No steps except porch. Fully equipped.

I love hosting my little cottage in Parkside. I have met so many wonderful people during my adventures hosting through the years. It's great to meet other people who love old, historic homes and appreciate staying a piece of history; not to mention a place like Savannah.

Why they chose this property

Parkside is a special neighborhood within a special city. It is eclectic, safe, friendly, and deeply rich with history, stories, and plenty of activities right outside your door. Daffin Park is one block away and boasts of walking and jogging paths, athletic fields, a dog park, etc. It is the largest park in Savannah. Grayson Stadium is located at Daffin Park and is home to the famous Savannah Banana Baseball Team.

What makes this property unique

Parkside Cottage was built in 1925 and the previous owner lived there for over forty years. The hardwood floors, plaster walls, and trim are all original to the home. The floors have been screened so that their character can shine through. Several special elements about this house make it so very Southern. It has an enclosed side porch which is now a bedroom (bedroom 3) for extra sleeping space. This is common among small Southern homes built around this period. It has an attic, or whole house fan. There is nothing like an attic fan in the Spring, Summer, and Fall in the South to cool down your house and let in the fresh air! It also boasts a Screened House in the back of the property, which is wonderful to entertain on warm Summer days or cool Summer nights.
